"Have you studied history? Tell me about it."
Claudia's clear voice echoed, "I remember my teacher once told me that over a decade ago, Lordaeron's ministers engaged in a heated debate over whether to form an alliance or to support distant nations."
"A large number of ministers believe that there is no reason to waste their own national strength for a country far to the south. They only need to protect their own borders."
"King Terenas overcame his ministers' objections and said: If we do not help our brother nations, then no one will be able to help us when they perish."
"Later, when Quel'Thalas asked King Terenas for help, King Terenas once again went against the will of the people and sent half of the Alliance's forces to Quel'Thalas for the same reason."
King Varian listened to these familiar stories with a thoughtful look on his face, and the girl continued:
"I also remember another thing. Duke Vishak commented on the Elven Kingdom this morning. If Quel'Thalas hadn't stood by and watched Lordaeron's destruction, they wouldn't be facing the predicament they face today."
King Varian pondered for a moment, then looked at the girl in front of him with satisfaction and said, "I understand what you mean, Claudia. You have an excellent teacher. I will discuss this issue with my ministers tomorrow."
Claudia then took her leave, returned to her seat and continued to handle official business.
It was almost noon when King Varian stood up from his seat and walked outside to have dinner with Claudia. This was not an exception. His lieutenants were his closest assistants. Usually, when there were no guests, he would dine with his lieutenants or Prince Anduin.
Varian pushed open the door and found Claudia still sitting at the table, writing something with a pen. The golden sunlight shone on the girl's face, shining brightly.
It was so beautiful. He didn’t call Claudia immediately, but admired it in his heart.
This was by no means an admiration for her appearance. In fact, as a king, Varian had seen many beautiful noble girls. Compared with their exquisite makeup and enchanting charm, Claudia's appearance could only be considered average. Even if she was thrown into a group of noble girls, she would definitely be the most inconspicuous one.
However, she was so different from those noble girls. Whenever they met the king, the topics they talked about were hunting, dancing, and art. It was the first time that Varian saw a noble girl who understood history and politics.
Not to mention how much surprise Claudia had given him when he first met her: she dared to break into the palace alone to plead for the people, and she fought Bolvar on equal terms with him. In the end, when she faced the king, she was able to state her mission in a dignified manner. This was the first time Varian had seen such a girl.
Varian originally thought that a beautiful woman should be as dignified and virtuous as his former queen Tiffany, or as sexy and charming as Countess Katrina whom he had met before; but in Claudia, he found a kind of feminine beauty that he had never discovered before, independent, strong and wise.
At this moment, the girl in the sun is like a shining diamond, emitting dazzling light and shining brightly.
Of course, Varian only admired her beauty. From childhood to adulthood, he had always been a strictly self-disciplined person and would never have any other thoughts just because of admiration.
Claudia looked up and noticed the king's arrival. She stood up to collect the documents and Varian spoke.
"Come on, it's time, Claudia, let's go eat together."
"My pleasure, Your Majesty."
On the way back from lunch, Claudia noticed that Varian was a little listless and asked:
"Your Majesty, do you need a rest?"
"It's okay. It's been many years, and there are always times when I can't rest well at night."
Varian then mentioned something else: "When Devin arrives, you will hand over the work at hand to him. Your important task this afternoon is to greet Her Highness Jaina, the special envoy from Kul Tiras."
Jaina? Claudia was no stranger to her. When she had served in the army with Arthas, Jaina had been the most dazzling star in the army.
Claudia immediately agreed: "As you wish, Your Majesty."
