Claudia was silent for a long moment, then something occurred to her. She said to the Silver Hand, "I'm sorry, I can't approach the battle the same way they do. I can't fully unleash your strength."
In response to the girl's apology, the Silver Hand replied, "No, you are the most suitable partner for the Silver Hand. I have known this since before you even accepted the trial."
"Why do you say that?" Claudia asked in surprise. She had always thought that she had gone through trials to gain the recognition of the Silver Hand.
"The reason the Guardians forged the Silver Hand was not only to pass on the belief in sacrifice, but also to hope that this weapon could bring courage, hope, and love to mortals."
"And in your memories, I've seen that you once passed on your courage and hope to the soldiers in the nightmare, inspiring them to emerge from despair. This perfectly aligns with the spirit of the Silver Hand."
"And you've made plenty of sacrifices in battle. The Trial in Stratholme was merely a further confirmation of your spirit of sacrifice: many people would sacrifice their lives to protect their comrades without hesitation in battle, but when moral sacrifice is required, they can't act. That's what the Trial will test."
Claudia suddenly stopped while walking and felt a little embarrassed. She didn't expect the Silver Hand to think so highly of her, and the Silver Hand's voice continued to ring in her mind.
"Always remember that the purpose of the Silver Hand is to awaken the courage, hope, and love deep within people. These are far more important than combat. The Silver Hand was never meant to be a purely destructive artifact like the Ashbringer."
The Silver Hand's words reminded Claudia of the two-handed sword again. She asked, "What kind of companion do you think the Ashbringer should recognize?"
"In my brief encounter, I felt that the Ashbringer's core power, while formidable, was too pure, while the sword itself was imbued with the intense hatred and rage of its forger."
"This is a very dangerous weapon. If the wielder's mind is not strong enough, they will be influenced by the hatred and anger that the sword carries, and go astray."
Claudia was immediately startled, but then she said thankfully, "Fortunately, it's Lord Mograine who's wielding this weapon. He's a man of iron will."
The Silver Hand continued:
"The holder of the Ashbringer must be an extremely pure worshiper of the Holy Light and a fanatical abhorrence of evil, willing to destroy it at all costs."
"Although you firmly believe in the Holy Light, you are different from the other Paladins I've met recently. You don't believe that the Holy Light is the absolute truth. You simply like the beauty that comes with it."
"Furthermore, you sympathize with the undead and other creatures, and you don't think many things are necessarily evil. Therefore, the Ashbringer will never recognize you."
Claudia fell silent. She knew the reason. Before her soul fusion, she, like many other paladins, firmly believed that the Holy Light was everything and that evil must be completely purged. But after accepting the soul from another world, while she still believed in the Holy Light, she was no longer so fanatical, no longer believing that everything the doctrine taught was right. She also became more tolerant of things that other paladins could not tolerate.
She admitted, "Yes, I believe that whether a creature is evil should be determined by their behavior, not by their race or identity. For example, Natalie is my friend."
The Silver Hand replied, "That's correct. The Titans also wield multiple powers, and light is only one of them."
"I also know of the existence of another artifact. The Guardian once forged a powerful shield to protect mortals."
"You are not lacking in the spirit of protection, so you should be able to gain its recognition. It's a pity that your body is not strong enough, and I don't know where the shield is now. If I sense its presence, I will remind you."
After the girl agreed and thanked him, the Silver Hand continued, "You're welcome. We're partners. You could study more about how to incorporate your emotions into your spells. This will significantly improve the effectiveness of your spells."
"Okay, I can ask Natalie for advice. She knows more about the power of the mind."
Claudia returned to the adjutant's office and dealt with some official documents. Jacson arrived and handed over his work to her. Then the girl returned home. Paltrice was practicing inscriptions on paper, and Natalie rarely ran out.
Claudia greeted the two girls and put the Silver Hand in her room. She then took a bath and rested for a while, then went to chat with her sister, and finally went to Natalie. She planned to ask Natalie for some spiritual skills.
"Good morning."
Natalie said this casually to Claudia, and then made all kinds of faces in front of the mirror. There were some books with strange names on the table: "Forbidden Love", "Wild Gay Love", "Big Bomb"...
Claudia sat down next to her and picked up the oddly titled "Wild Gay Love." She flipped through it curiously and casually asked, "What is this—Aa ...
The blonde girl threw the book aside, covered her eyes with her hands and shook her head, trying hard to forget the picture she had just seen. Her mind had been severely polluted.
Claudia's reaction was beyond Natalie's expectations. Her eyes gradually brightened as she looked at the blonde girl. "This is a trophy I picked up. I think it's quite interesting. Why do you look like that?"
"My expression is normal! And what if Patrice sees this thing? Hide it or throw it away!" Claudia protested dissatisfiedly.
