Chapter 11 God's Punishment

Chapter 11 God's Punishment

Chapter 11

11.1

When Lorenz asked Euridice, “How did you do that?”

Olidisi did not answer immediately.

For her, this mechanism in the statue was not just a tool used by the Duchess to frame her this time—

When Lady Beatrice accused her of being a "witch", she used the excuse of this mechanism in the statue.

The sins of the "witches" were so grave that even the gods shed tears of blood.

Even though Countess Euridice had always had a good reputation in Oplenci, she was suddenly overwhelmed by such a serious accusation as "God's punishment."

She was tied to the stake by her angry followers and burned alive in the Judgment Square as a "witch".

So, in the castle, when the maid panicked and said, "Something happened in the temple. God has sent down divine punishment!"

Olidisi understood immediately:

The Duchess is about to activate the "blood and tears" mechanism in the statue.

This time, Mrs. Beatrice used this device on her so early, probably because the mud she fed her made her crazy.

Olidisi thought so and suddenly started to giggle.

"Oh, it's very simple," she said. "The core material of 'Blood Tears' is simple. It's just cow blood and a kind of seaweed gel extracted from small Sapphire seaweed."

Lorenz was startled: "Seaweed gel..."

Lorenz had always performed well in the academy, and he had gradually come to understand: "Alginate is a solvent commonly used in alchemy."

"Yes," Oulidisi smiled. "Cow blood tends to coagulate easily in the catheter and doesn't flow well. So, they added seaweed gel to the cow blood. This way, they can create the 'slow blood flow' effect at any time."

Lorenz had already guessed that Mrs. Beatrice wanted to create the illusion of "tears of blood" when Euridice was praying.

"It's just that," Olidesi smiled, "I added this to the sacrificial incense when it was lit."

As she spoke, she pulled out half a stick of incense from her sleeve and tossed it to Lorenz.

Lorenz was startled, and subconsciously took the half incense stick and looked down:

That's a type of mugwort aromatherapy.

Olidisi said calmly, "This kind of mugwort is called 'condensed incense'. The smoke it releases when burning will temporarily condense the flow of seaweed gel."

The mechanism was activated by Mrs. Beatrice, but Euridice quietly added a scent of mugwort to the sacrificial smoke.

A light smoke called "Ningxiang" slowly rose up and spread over the eyebrows of the statue. It reacted with the seaweed gel, solidifying the seaweed gel and temporarily preventing the cow's blood from flowing out of the pipe of the mechanism.

As she knelt before the idol, the incense burned silently, so that the idol remained motionless.

As she stood up and left the statue, the smoke of the sacrificial incense and the smoke of the incense gradually faded, and the effect of the "condensed fragrance" gradually dissipated.

The seaweed gel resumed flowing, and the "blood and tears" in the mechanism continued to flow out.

Olidisi raised the corners of his mouth slightly.

"I am an apprentice praised by the Master Alchemist himself," she said. "They are playing such tricks in front of me. It's really not worth mentioning."

As for Lucian, it's even simpler.

She only needs to activate the "Rosaline" model small mechanical crossbow on her wrist when the sacrificial smoke dissipates, and a thin crossbow needle will be fired.

It hit Lucian's knee accurately, causing him to kneel on the stone bricks in front of the statue.

After finishing the story, Euridice sat back at her dressing table, took off her earrings, and smiled at Lorenz through the glass mirror: "That crossbow needle may still be in Lucien's knee. Aren't you going to save your brother?"

Lorenz sighed softly. "You know I agree with you. Mother and Father are probably trying to save Lucien, but I don't want to get involved. If they ask me for anything, I will refuse. As for Lucien's punishment, I believe the High Priest, the Judge, and the Knight Commander will be able to make a fair decision. I will not get involved."

Euridice nodded with a smile. "Yes, that's my good boy. You know, if you say anything about sympathizing with Lucien, I'll kick you out of this living room immediately."

Lorenz laughed, but as Euridsi said this, the smile on his face suddenly faded.

She suddenly mentioned an unfamiliar name: "Do you remember Theodora?"

Lorenz was startled, and after a moment of recollection, he found the name from his memory: "Theodora... She once studied with us in the academy."

"More than that," Euridice said with a smile, "She was in the alchemy class with Lucian. Lucian almost blew up the copper furnace, and her fingers were burned by the potion that splashed out of the furnace."

When Oulidisi said this, Lorenz was slightly startled: "It's her..."

"It's her," Euridice said calmly. "Her fingers were burned, and her index finger can no longer bend or extend freely. She can no longer play the harp. She loved the harp the most."

Lorenz remained silent. Euridsi said slowly, "I don't know why, but I can't forget her. We weren't even friends, but after all these years, I still remember her name."

She also always remembered that in the library, the master of the academy smiled bitterly and said incoherently to the angry apprentices:

"A large part of the college's income comes from donations from the Abrad family... If we only rely on the support of the administrators, we will not be able to cover the college's expenses."

Not all apprentices can afford the cost of studying. In order to impart knowledge and skills to more civilian apprentices, the cost of running the academy has always been a problem.

Therefore, the college had to accept the donation from the Ebrard family, on the condition that it take care of Lucien Ebrard.

Euridsi understood all this, but she was just a little apprentice and could do nothing.

Young Euridsi just sat silently in the library, completing her thesis, doing nothing; she could do nothing.

However, now Oulidsi sat in front of the dressing table, smiling at her reflection in the glass mirror.

"This is a lady's revenge," she said. "Even if I have to endure it for ten years, I will definitely do it."

Lorenz looked at Euridice in the mirror and was about to say something when a waiter suddenly knocked on the long door of the south wing living room.

Lorenz paused and said, "Please come in."

The waiter cautiously pushed open the long door and called out, "Your Excellency, a distinguished guest has come to visit Oplensi Castle. The Duke has ordered everyone to meet him in the reception room."

Lorenz was a little puzzled: "A distinguished guest? Visiting Oplensiburg at this time?"

A "divine punishment" had just occurred in the temple of Oprunsi. The believers in the city had not yet dispersed, and the punishment of the "sinner" Lucien had not yet been carried out. There was still some chaos in the city.

Why would there be guests visiting at this time?

The waiter said, "It's... Prince Constance from the royal city who's here to visit."

When the waiter said the name "Prince Constance", Euridice stood up suddenly!

Her movements were so fast and hasty that the jewelry box on the dressing table was knocked over, and the jewel earrings fell to the ground with a "click".

Lorenz was startled: "Tisi?"

Olidesi didn't look at her, but stared at the male servant who came to deliver the message: "Who did you say came to visit?"

The waiter was also startled, and facing Oulidsi's gaze, he suddenly stuttered when speaking.

"Yes, yes, from the royal city...Constance...Prince..."

She stared at him coldly: "What is he doing here?"

Under Euridice's gaze, the waiter, for some reason, unconsciously told the truth: "His Royal Highness the Prince visited Lord Lucien, and it seemed... he wanted to plead for Lord Lucien, to reduce Lord Lucien's punishment before he was sentenced to the crime of 'Divine Punishment'--"

The waiter hadn't finished speaking when he suddenly came to his senses.

He broke out in a cold sweat: "Countess..."

But Oulidsi suddenly smiled.

She smiled so gently and sweetly, as if the evil ghost-like person just now did not exist.

"So it's Prince Constance who's here," she said gently. "How wonderful! It's such an honor. It really brings honor to Castle Oplensee."

When Oulidisi said this, Lorenz hesitated, pursed his lips, and suppressed his worries about Oulidisi:

Ever since returning from this inspection, Oulidisi's attitude has changed.

First, she proposed to break off the engagement with him, then directed the "divine punishment" at Lucien, and finally, she showed such a terrifying expression towards Prince Constance.

Prince Constance had almost no contact with the Ebrard family, and Lorenz did not understand the connection between Euridice and the prince; they should not have known each other at all.

Even if Prince Constance really came to rescue Lucien, Euridice would not have such a deep hatred for him.

However, for some reason, Lorenz vaguely felt that things must not be that simple.

He once said to Olly Desi, "You possess a clear conviction and a resolute will. I always feel that you are always ready to sacrifice everything for your convictions and will, like a moth to a flame."

Now, Lorenz vaguely felt that Euridsi had completely stripped off the disguise of a "lady", ignited the true fire in her heart, and began to pursue her true beliefs.

A fire began to burn beneath the ice, though Lorenz did not know why.

He just watched as Oulidsi calmly picked up the earrings on the ground and put them back on her earlobes.

Feeling Lorenz's gaze, Olidesi smiled brightly: "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Lorenz had a lot to say, but in the end, he just said, "You are so beautiful."

Olidisi was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing.

"My dear boy," she said. "Hasn't someone come to plead for Lucien Abrad? Come on, let's go and see that... Prince Constance."
