Chapter 14 The King’s Birthday Feast…
Chapter 14
14.1
This is the year 637 of the Ethereal Era, the 252nd birthday of High King Lucinda.
King Lucinda was born into the extremely long-lived Aerys Winged people. Therefore, she did not attach much importance to her birthday. The banquets held for her birthday were more for the purpose of serving the empire's administration:
The administrators, judges, and knights-in-chief of each county who were invited by the royal family were counselors who received personal commendations and recognition from the king.
Therefore, the banquet in the banquet hall of Kaderin Castle was not luxuriously decorated. Before the king arrived, the invited guests stood in the banquet hall in groups of three or four, chatting and laughing, and the atmosphere was very casual.
However, in this casual atmosphere, there are occasionally unpleasant conversations.
Hesong Karagaran stood in the corner near the window on the west side of the banquet hall, trying to avoid the exquisite and elegant nobles in the center of the main hall.
He was wearing a standard dark blue aristocratic suit, but upon closer inspection, although the suit had been cleaned very cleanly, its cut was not very fitting and the fabric looked a bit old.
A voice rang out behind him: "How dare you attend the King's banquet, you lowly, poor bastard?"
The illegitimate son Hesong froze slightly, but he had to turn around and face Osborne Karagaran.
Osborne was wearing a knight's dress in silver and blue colors. It was made of real precious satin fabric and the cut of the dress was crisp and fit.
Osborn is a young knight that the Karagalan family is proud of. Not only is he handsome and noble, he once defeated twelve brave knights in the territory with his unsharpened knight sword, and instantly gained a prominent reputation as a "warrior".
He was a popular and sought-after star on the Ethereal Continent. Even the king's banquet was allowed to allow him to wear his unsharpened knight's blunt sword as an exception.
Looking at Osborne in front of him, Hesong's expression became a little gloomy.
If Osborne is the guiding star of the Karagaran family, then Hesong, an illegitimate child, is the weed that no one in the family cares about.
Osborne stared at Hesong, his face revealing undisguised disgust and arrogance. "You've worn these clothes three times already. Wearing something like this to a banquet is truly a disgrace to the Karagaran family."
Hesong lowered his head in silence, not refutating. However, a voice sounded faintly beside him:
"As long as clothes are clean, warm and practical, they have fulfilled their purpose and there is nothing to be ashamed of."
He Song was startled and looked up in surprise——
The lady with long rose-gold hair slowly walked towards him and said with a smile, "Hello, I am Euridice Arquitas."
14.2
Euridice Arquitas.
Hearing the name, Osborne Karagaran narrowed his eyes slightly.
The lady before him had a very peaceful expression. She was wearing a dark green official dress, the style of a counselor official, not complicated, indeed very simple; her long rose-gold hair was draped behind her, without much decoration.
Euridice Arquitas wore only a pair of black opal earrings as decoration, which were probably the only thing on her that could be called "expensive".
Osborne Karagaran thought so, and suddenly he drew out the knight's blunt sword from the scabbard and swung it towards Olidesi!
Hesong was horrified: "Osborne!"
However, Oulidsi himself did not dodge at all.
She just stood there, her brows not moving at all.
Osborne Karagaran's knight's blunt sword was unsheathed in an instant, and was put back in an instant. He Song only heard a slight "ding" sound:
The earring on Ollidosi's earlobe was hit by Osborn's blunt sword and fell off, and Osborn caught it in his hand easily.
He Song opened his eyes wide, feeling a little complicated:
Osborne Karagaran's attitude was harsh and arrogant, but his skill with a blunt sword was truly exceptional. He was able to accurately knock off two tiny earrings without injuring them. This level of precise control over the force of a knight's sword was something few knights in the entire Void Continent could achieve.
Osborne Karagaran could not kill Euridsi in public, but he could make her scream and cry out of fear, completely losing the grace and manners that a lady should have.
Unfortunately, Euridsi remained calm and didn't dodge at all. She simply waved her lady's folding fan slowly, as if she were just brushing away an annoying mosquito. Osborne Karagaran raised his eyebrows. "Very courageous, Euridsi Arquitas."
Osborne said this, as if he were really starting to take an interest in Euridice. He raised an eyebrow and looked her up and down.
"Well, his manners aren't bad," the noble knight said with a smile. "It's a pity that he's just a lowly commoner merchant, just like that lowly bastard, and can only afford to wear tattered old clothes."
Perhaps at the instruction of Beatrice Carragher, Osborne Carragher's attitude towards Euridice was full of undisguised malice and contempt, and he commented on her as if he were commenting on a not-so-fine vase.
"I've seen too many lowly people like you," the noble knight said viciously. "No matter how hard you try to climb out of the mire, you can't wash away the stench of lowliness and filth in your blood."
And Oulidsi listened with a smile and did not refute.
Hesong's expression was gloomy. He was about to force a smile to help Oulidisi out of the predicament, but Oulidisi suddenly moved——
She swung the lady's folding fan in her hand and slapped Osborne Karagaran in the face!

Olidisi's slap landed loudly on Osborne's face, startling both Karagarans.
The illegitimate son Hesong stared at Euridsi blankly, and couldn't help but widen his eyes and open his mouth.
The folding fan with metal ribs hit Osborne Karagaran's face without any warning, catching the nobleman off guard. His head tilted, and he staggered and bumped into the long dining table behind him.
Half a glass of red wine spilled on his silver-blue suit, leaving a blood-red stain.
All this happened so suddenly that Osborne Karagaran himself didn't even react, his evil smile still lingering on his face.
However, his cheeks were swelling rapidly.
Olidesi swung the silver bone fracture fan in his hand quickly and fiercely, obviously using all his strength. A shocking redness and swelling quickly appeared on Osborne Karagaran's face, from cheekbone to jaw, looking hideous.
The nobleman widened his eyes, covered his cheeks, and his face was full of disbelief.
From childhood to adulthood, no one dared to hit him like this.
Of course, that was not only because of his knightly ability, but also because his last name was "Karagalang".
He was utterly shocked: "Are you crazy, Euridice Arquitas?"
And Oulidsi shouted loudly: "Osborne Karagaran - how dare you disrespect the Queen!"
The commotion on this side had already attracted the attention of some guests; some of the Empire's advisors and nobles looked over. Osborne said in shock, "What?"
Olidisi put away the folding fan in his hand, his movements were slow and measured, but his words were sharp and stern:
"This is a dress given by the Queen herself! And you call it cheap and shabby, calling it tattered! How dare you disrespect His Majesty the King!"
The young and handsome knight was speechless for the first time. "This is impossible... How is this possible? Such tattered clothes, how could it be a dress given by the Queen?"
Oledsi waved the folding fan in her hand, smiling: "This is the dress my grandmother gave me, how can it be impossible?"
Osborne stared at her, and suddenly realized who the "grandmother" that Ollidsey was talking about was.
That was Lorenz Ebrard's grandmother and Luce Ebrard's mother, Lumina Ebrard.
Lu Mina is a legendary figure on the Void Continent. She started out as a young lady from a noble family and became the most insignificant administrator. From the most insignificant county administrator, she relied on her own abilities step by step to become the great administrator in the center of the entire Void Continent.
Lumina Abrad and Her Majesty the Queen maintained a deep personal friendship. The Abrad family retained the magnificent and empty title of "Duke" largely because of the existence of the head of the family, Lumina Abrad. Although Lumina had long since stopped caring about the Abrad family's affairs, her reputation still existed, and the Queen was willing to maintain the Abrad family's nominal honor.
Osborne Karagaran was stunned. "Is this... the dress that Her Majesty the Queen gave to Grand Administrator Abrad?"
Euridice smiled slightly. "Of course. My grandmother gave it to me as a gift to congratulate me on my marriage to Lorenz."
It is well known that King Lucinda does not like luxurious items such as gold and gems; the king of the Wanzeta Empire prefers comfortable and practical clothing materials and designs.
Lumina Ebrard herself prefers practical things; she is a "pragmatic" administrator.
Osborne Karagaran suddenly realized that even the sentence "As long as clothes are clean, warm and practical, they have fulfilled their full mission and there is nothing to be ashamed of" was a famous saying of Grand Administrator Lumina Abrad.
Therefore, this gray standard dress for counselors and officials might actually be a gift from the king.
Olidisi spoke righteously, but a hint of mockery flashed in his eyes: "How dare you...disrespect the Queen?"
Osborn couldn't help but grit his teeth; the wound on his face also felt a slight pain.
He understood what Euridice Arquitas meant:
The relationship between the Karagalang family and the royal family is delicate, and the charge of "disrespect" can be serious or minor.
If it is a small matter, it is just a quarrel between the younger generation of children.
If it was a major incident, a charge of "disrespect" would be enough to give the Queen an excuse to punish the Karagarang family.
Osborne Karagaran's expression was distorted, his chest heaving with anger, but he couldn't say anything.
He was not a fool like Lucien Abrad, he knew the seriousness of the matter. Osborn stared at Euridsi, his eyes revealing deep caution and fear.
The blood marks from O'Lidsey's folding fan were still on his face. She used all her strength and showed no mercy, beating Osborne so hard that half of his face was swollen and blood marks were faintly visible.
The nobleman's expression was ferocious and humiliated, but he didn't dare to say anything more.
He could only stare at Euridsi with hatred, and said word by word: "Euridsi Arquitas, hello, you are fine... We will see each other again."
Then he walked away quickly.
The illegitimate son Hesong Karagaran was completely stunned by what was happening in front of him.
After Osborne Karagaran had walked away, someone behind him smiled and said, "You are really amazing, Euridsi Arquitas. No wonder Lucien Ebrard lost to you."
Eurydice turned her head away with a cold expression, and Prince Constance gracefully raised the red wine glass in his hand to her.
The romantic and amorous prince smiled faintly: "Hello, see you again, Euridice... Countess."
