Chapter 58 The Final War

Chapter 58 The Final War

Chapter 58

"attack!"

Following Prince Constance's order, the Knights of Ravenmont suddenly took action!

The Knights of Ravenmont, with their human knights as their main vanguard, rode brown warhorses, gripping swords and spears as they charged towards Cardinal Square. From afar, the knights' dark armor resembled a surging wave of metal.

The first line of defense of the Royal Knights is composed of Centaurs:

They are half human, half horse, with the running speed of horses and the flexibility of human arms, and are born to be the best "knights".

The Centaur Knight Leader shouted in a deep voice, "Shield!"

The centaurs at the front immediately raised their shields, forming a barrier that left no gaps and protected each other.

The black-armored knights of the Ravenmont Knights drew closer. The Centaur Knight Commander gripped his weapon tightly and shouted, "Spear!"

The Centaurs in the second row thrust their spears forward through the gaps in their shields, while the Human Knights of Ravenmont City finally reached Cardinal Square.

"when!"

The knight's sword slashed fiercely against the shield, and the air seemed to vibrate. The two sides finally collided head-on in the northwest corner of the square.

"kill--"

The human knights' long swords slashed forward, while the centaurs' spears were longer and stabbed out from behind their shields, instantly knocking some human knights on the front line off their horses.

The armor thudded against the ground, and the human knights of Ravenmont reacted quickly. The Knight Commander shouted in a deep voice, "Attack the centaurs' legs!"

Centaur knights could not abandon their "horses," so if their horses' legs were injured and they lost their balance and fell, they would be at a great disadvantage on the battlefield. A human knight lowered his body, and his longsword swept under the bottom of the shield, cutting a centaur warrior.

Blood splattered everywhere, but the Centaur knight gritted his teeth and threw the spear in his hand, piercing the enemy's chest!

"For the citizens of the Wanzeta Empire," he said, "for Queen Lucinda, kill—"

The two sides engaged in fierce fighting at the edge of the square, while the royal knights did their best to protect the guests who had come to the square to participate in the celebration.

Everything happened very quickly. The golden flowers were still hanging on both sides of the celebration platform. The twelve chief justices, the twelve chief administrators, Richard, Matilda, and the newly appointed nobles were still in the celebration square.

The royal knights formed a neat line, forming a wall with their bodies to protect the guests in the center of the square. However, the royal knights were outnumbered, and the knights from Ravenmont were more numerous. They charged relentlessly. After several clashes, some of the royal knights fell to the ground, their blood staining the golden petals laid out for the celebration.

Hesong stood beside Oulidsi. They had retreated to the back of the square, next to the walls of Kaderinburg. Hesong's whole body was shaking. "What should I do... There are too many of them!"

Euridice said, "Don't be afraid. They only need to defend themselves against the first charge from Constance—we will enter Kaderinburg."

Hesong shuddered: "Enter Kaderinburg?"

Euridice didn't look at him. She focused her attention on the situation in the square and said, "Kaderin Castle is located on the island of Isla. It is difficult for both the North and the South to attack, and it is a suitable terrain for defense. Therefore, King Lucinda did not leave too many knights on Isla. Instead, she left more loyal knights to garrison in the North and South—"

Euridice said this, but before he finished, he heard Prince Constance's sneer:

"Brave Knights of Ravenmont!" Prince Constance said, using the Mormand Merman to amplify his voice. "No one knows the number of royal knights on the island better than I do. I know that you number no more than a thousand."

Prince Constance said, his laughter becoming somewhat sinister. "We already have ten thousand men sailing here from Ravenmont, and three thousand men from Earl Felix's territory have also sailed from the southern border. I urge you to lay down your weapons and admit defeat. We have ten times more knights than you, and we will not lose!"

He Song was shocked and said, "What should I do?"

Euridice clenched his fists. "That's Prince Constance's bluff. They don't have that many people."

She narrowed her eyes and spoke quickly, "Regardless, our knights are indeed outnumbered. We cannot afford to be attrited head-on like this. We must enter Kaderinburg—the castle has sophisticated fortifications and sturdy, tall walls, offering a significant defensive advantage."

She gestured with her hands. "What we need to do now is to defend the castle with a small number of men. We must hold on long enough to wait for the knights stationed in the north and south—those knights loyal to the royal family and the king—to come to Kaderinburg to aid us and outflank Constance."

As Euridice spoke, King Lucinda in mid-air began to move and deploy:

She raised the scepter, and the hem of her gold and white dress fluttered in the wind.

"Open the gates of Kaderinburg," the king commanded. "Centaurs, enter castle defense."

Prince Constance obviously understood that if he allowed the guests and knights in the square to successfully retreat into the castle, he would lose a good opportunity and enter a long and stalemate battle.

So Constance cried out, "Stop them, kill them! Take the castle—the giant warriors!"

The "giant warriors" summoned by Prince Constance came from the giant tribe; they were tall and muscular, and although they moved slowly, they were extremely powerful.

The giant warriors' footsteps slowly stepped on the ground, making a dull "dong, dong" sound, and the ground of Cardlin Square seemed to tremble.

Olidisi watched this scene and shouted to the crowd in the square, "The giants move very slowly! We must have time to enter the castle! Once we enter the castle, we will have an advantage!"

On the western wall of Kaderinburg, the heavy gate slowly opened with a low rumble. Olidesi's shout startled the crowd in the square. Grand Justice Ross Goode waved his hand decisively: "Justice, Magistrate, follow me!"

The counselors in purple and gold robes were very familiar with the meeting hall of Kaderin Castle, and they trotted into Kaderin Castle behind the Grand Judge.

Prince Richard pushed Princess Sabina towards the castle. Princess Matilda protected the two young ladies of the Abrad family and ran towards the city gate.

"Bang!"

A huge battle axe smashed down on Princess Matilda from the sky!

Prince Richard screamed, "Giant!"

The giant warriors finally walked slowly and heavily to the square of Kaderinburg; they swung the huge and heavy battle axes in their hands and chopped at the guests in the square.

Prince Constance shouted, "Well done! Stop them!"

The giant warriors were too large for the Centaurs on the ground to stop them. Someone shouted in panic, "Princess—"

Princess Matilda bent down and protected the two young girls under her body; just as the giant warrior's axe was about to chop the princess, a whistling sound suddenly passed through the air!

There was only a loud "bang" sound, and the giant's battle axe was deflected by the shadow in the air. It hit the ground next to Princess Matilda, and with a "bang", a huge deep hole was smashed in the floor tiles of the square!

Olidisi shouted, "It's the Flying Knights! The Flyers are helping us, let's keep going!"

The Royal Flying Knights are composed of Chimera beastmen who are birds of prey such as eagles and falcons. They are fierce and powerful, and have the ability to fly in the air. They are the elite of the Royal Knights.

They swooped down from the sky, their bodies huge yet nimble, their wings broad and tough. They tumbled and scurried swiftly through the air, successfully blocking the giants' attack.

On the ground, the guests of the celebration poured towards the open city gates like a tide; the orc flyers continued to fight with the giants in mid-air, buying time for the evacuation on the ground.

At the same time, the Centaur warriors also retreated and defended, gradually shrinking the original three-sided encirclement formation into a semicircle, and gradually shrinking into the castle; Olidesi bent over and rushed into the castle, grabbed Simon Karagalan's arm, and pulled the thin Simon into the city gate.

Prince Constance looked at the scene before him and shouted, "Archers!"

The archers of the Knights of Ravenmont immediately drew their bowstrings to full length.

Constance ordered, "Shoot!"

Following Constance's command, dense feather arrows shot towards the orc flyers circling in the air; and the flyers suddenly raised a silver-white shield in mid-air -

Someone from the Ravenmont Knights exclaimed, "Is that a shield made of Metal Hyun?"

Shields and armor made of a special metal called "Xian" are light in weight but very strong, making them perfect for warriors flying in mid-air.

Feathered arrows struck the shield made of metal strings and fell one after another. Prince Constance stared at the scene and said angrily, "How could they have a shield made of metal strings! Isn't it said that the smelting method of metal strings has been lost?"

No one dared to respond to Prince Constance's fury. The evacuation and fighting in the square had entered the final critical stage:

The eagle-like orc flyers fought fiercely with the giant warriors in the air, buying time for the ground; while the Centaur knights on the ground fought with the human knights from Ravenmont City, while protecting the people in the square and retreating towards Kadrin Castle.

The new nobles stumbled as they ran, some twisted their ankles, and some fell to the ground. The pot-bellied Count Blier had never experienced such intense exercise before. He fell to the ground with a "bang" and shouted desperately: "Save me!"

George Blier left his father in terror and ran away, but Count Blier suddenly grabbed George's ankle and said with a ferocious look: "Save me!"

George Blier fell to the ground with his father, watching in despair as the Centaurs around him continued to retreat and the gates of Kaderin Castle began to slowly close.

The hawk-like flyer swooped down from the sky, using its wings to swipe away the pursuing Ravenmont knights at the city gate, leaving behind its companions.

The city gate closed with a bang, and Kaderin Castle was finally closed.

Seeing this, the falcon flyers who stayed outside the city wall stopped fighting with the giant warriors, but let out a long roar and suddenly rose into the air.

The flyers flew high over the city walls and flew back into Kaderin Castle. On the city walls, archers drew their bows and aimed at the Knights of Ravenmont.

With the cooperation of the flyers and the Centaur knights, the royal family successfully completed the evacuation.

Kaderinburg became a huge defensive fortress, standing cold and ruthless on the ground.

Prince Constance looked at this scene and felt a huge violence rising from the bottom of his heart.

He shouted, "Knights of Ravenmont, follow my orders and attack the city immediately—they are already rats trapped in their burrows, unable to escape! We are numerous, and we will break down that city gate!"
