Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Earth, the mother planet, is the most protected planet among the intelligent races and also the most special planet. This planet, which once nurtured humanity, holds a special place in the eyes of all the intelligent races.

This is the closest place to humankind, and a sacred place in the eyes of all intelligent beings.

They cherish this precious planet so much that they don't even allow their own people to set foot on it easily. At the same time, the position of guarding Earth is highly sought after among the intelligent race. The principle of fair competition and competitive appointment is adopted. There are thousands of intelligent races competing for each position. Everyone who can come here to perform the guarding mission has stepped over the heads of tens of thousands of competitors. It can be said that every starship surrounding this star field is the elite of the intelligent race.

Of course, while the competition for this position is fierce, the actual work is quite boring and tedious. After all, in this almost completely closed universe belonging solely to their intelligent race, the only entrance is heavily guarded by their forces. Even the other universe connected to that entrance has been nearly half-controlled by them. Therefore, deep within this universe, countless light-years away from that single entrance, is truly the safest place in the world; it's absolutely impossible for enemies to appear here.

The only thing to be wary of is the fellow race that, every few decades or centuries, secretly infiltrates Earth because of their excessive longing for humanity.

So the first thought that crossed the minds of all the Sogdians upon hearing the alarm was yet another member of their race who was courting death.

They actually want to steal five native Earth species, Earth rabbits, is that it? They'll be locked up in a cosmic prison for five hundred years!

These cold-eyed savages drove their starships at breakneck speed toward the coordinates of the alarm. The starships, running at full speed, approached the speed of light and arrived at the coordinates in no time.

Meanwhile, the Star Clan members who were hiding among the Star Beasts, terrified by the sudden burst of alarm rays that filled the starry sky, hadn't even recovered when they found themselves surrounded by starships. The silver metal behemoths looked even more majestic and ferocious up close, exuding an overwhelming sense of oppression, while the circular cannons protruding from the ship's hull emanated a chilling aura of death.

All the Star people held their breath, knowing that if even one of those round cannons fired something, they would all be reduced to ashes.

What surprised them was that the Aztecs, who were usually taciturn and would blast enemies to smithereens upon sight, did not fire directly at them this time. In fact, they were incredulous when they discovered they were still alive three seconds later.

Meanwhile, the intelligent beings, who are located around Earth and are strictly prohibited from using any weapons of mass destruction, also realized that something was amiss. It seemed that this audacious creature that had come to Earth was not one of their kind.

The star beast floating in the air is still in a mimicry state, but even the most perfect mimicry has flaws. For example, it cannot completely mimic the dense alarm rays filling the sky. The rays in its location are either a little blurry or a little crooked, which is already quite obvious in the void.

The intelligent beings naturally had more than one method of judgment. Once the anomaly was detected, various scanning methods on the starship were deployed in turn. Soon, an image of a huge creature appeared on the starship's display screen. Even though it was still somewhat blurry, the image surprised the intelligent beings. "A star beast?!"

Star beasts?! But how could there be star beasts here?!

Star beasts were not uncommon in the outer universe they explored and occupied; many of them had even bombarded these cosmic behemoths. But this was the inner universe, next to Earth, so how could there be star beasts here?

Furthermore, star beasts are the tools that many races in the outer universe rely on to travel through space. Since star beasts have appeared here, could there be more inside...?

Suddenly, there were even more cannons pointed at the star beasts on the starship.

At this moment, the final detection result, which was the most time-consuming but also the most accurate among the various scanning methods used by the starship, came out: "Star beast detected, adult mutant, sixteen Star Clan members inside the cargo hold. Cargo hold scan complete, commencing cargo hold scanning..."

It turned out to be the Star Clan. The refined faces on the starship grew colder as they listened to the scanner's notification that it was scanning the sac. However, they weren't going to wait any longer. The scan results would likely reveal that the Star Beasts had swallowed the five stolen Earth rabbits, or perhaps some other things. Once they dealt with the Star Clan, they would retrieve them all. The fact that the Star Clan from outer space had appeared around Earth was a serious matter, and they had to find out why. No matter how they calculated it, they couldn't believe the Star Clan could have accomplished this on their own.

The elite members of the Intelligence Clan acted swiftly, launching tranquilizer darts at the Star Beast. Capture nets were also deployed, firmly covering the massive phantom. At the same time, some Intelligence Clan members jumped into small space combat aircraft, ejecting from the hatches of the starships.

But at that moment, an alarm blared louder than ever before on every starship: "Beep!! Beep!! Level One Alert! Level One Alert! Human image detected in capsule scan, spectral analysis and comparison in progress, comparison progress 5%, 15%, 32%..."

For a moment, all the intelligent beings on the starships stopped what they were doing. They stared blankly at the number flashing on the starship's screen, as if that number was something extremely important.

Those intelligent beings already aboard their space combat aircraft also heard the alarm because of the systems connecting their cabins to their starships.

“…70%, 82%, 90%…” The colors of all the intelligent beings’ eyes became uncertain and flickered rapidly, as if they were anxiously waiting for a certain result.

Finally… “98%, 99%, 100%, comparison results, 100% match, confirming humanity… Beep! Triggered SSSSS-level event, discovered undying human body, directly reported to the mainframe, activated SSSSS-level protection plan.”

No one listened to what the starship was saying anymore. Almost immediately after the confirmation that humans had emerged, all the intelligent beings already in their small space combat aircraft rushed forward at full speed.

Meanwhile, the Star Clan members who had already given up resistance and were ready to surrender among the Star Beasts seemed to sense the extraordinary aura when they saw countless intelligent beings rushing towards them. They were so frightened that their legs went weak and they collapsed.

It feels like these intelligent people are about to rush over and tear them apart.

...

Meanwhile, beside this only passage from the universe to the outside world, in that massive space base, the twenty-first AI chief engineer, who had been stationed there, opened his eyes for the first time in decades, his eyelashes fluttering slightly.

A pair of golden eyes, dazzlingly bright.

Those were exceptionally contradictory eyes, seemingly born to be aloof and indifferent, observing all living beings with a detached gaze. Yet, upon closer inspection, those golden eyes possessed an extraordinary purity. And now, a peculiar emotion and curiosity surfaced in those contradictory eyes, and the person murmured, "Humans..."
