Chapter 70
With just one beam of light, the red tide worms that had been rampaging through the crowd were reduced by more than half. Those who had been chased by the worms and nearly perished in their jaws were still in shock, wondering what had just happened and what those beams of light that had fallen from the sky were!
Before they could react, the situation changed again. The dark shadow that had been hidden above the clouds pressed down even further, becoming even larger and more oppressive. At the same time, countless small black dots fell like raindrops. These black dots slowly grew larger in the eyes of the various races, and when their shapes became clear, they were all so shocked that they were speechless.
Those little black dots were actually humanoid beings, and they just jumped straight down from the sky! Weren't they afraid of falling to their deaths?!
Under the incredulous gazes of the other races, those races jumped down straight and without hesitation. With a soft thud, they only slightly bent their knees to absorb the force upon landing before standing up without any further impact.
It was a completely unfamiliar race, tall and slender, with a cold, handsome face. They did not show any aggressive features, such as sharp teeth or claws, but an inexplicable aura that made people tremble quietly arose in the hearts of all the races present. It was an instinct for self-preservation that came from living beings facing a powerful threat, making them understand that the race in front of them was definitely not someone to be trifled with.
And in fact, that is indeed the case.
The previous ray sweep had reduced most of the Red Tide Worms on the ground to ashes. However, those worms were either alone or feeding on lifeless corpses, making them relatively easy to deal with. The remaining worms, however, were entangled in battle with the alien race and were even overlapping with each other, making it impossible to eliminate them directly with high-energy rays.
These intelligent beings that landed on the ground did not hesitate for a moment. Almost immediately after landing, they moved and rushed towards the red tide worms that were still entangled with humans.
With a "bang," a Red Tide Worm that was pressing down on the alien race was kicked away. While still in mid-air, it was shot more than a dozen times in succession. Each shot hit its spinal joint, causing it to lose its support. When it landed, it was in an extremely twisted position that could never be achieved normally.
The red tide worm let out a painful cry, struggling on the ground due to excessive pain. However, its twisted body, which had completely lost its support, made it unable to move at all, and it could only tremble incessantly.
Cold, dark red eyes stared at the trembling, wailing Red Tide Worm on the ground. When it had suffered enough, the insect snorted coldly, walked straight up to it, and stomped on its head. With a "plop," brain matter and shattered teeth splattered everywhere, and it was finally dead beyond any hope of survival.
The alien races around them who witnessed this brutal act trembled inexplicably. Although the Red Tide Worms were their sworn enemies and they dreamed of killing them all, showing absolutely no mercy to them, they still felt a chill run down their spines at the sight of the unknown races that had descended from the sky.
Their intuition was correct. This race, with its cold faces, indifferent dark red eyes that revealed no emotion, and an aura of icy inhumanity that made everything around them seem lifeless, was indeed a brutal and terrifying existence.
Fortunately, all their brutality was directed at the Red Tide Worms at this time.
While the Grim Reaper forces were clearing the battlefield, a blond figure floating in mid-air, holding a transparent protective sphere in both hands, was gazing intently at the figure inside the sphere. His voice was low and full of apology as he spoke, "I'm sorry I'm late."
Chen Xi stared blankly at the figure outside the protective sphere, at that handsome, godlike appearance, at that face she had longed for day and night, and her eyes instantly reddened, "Jin Yi!"
You finally found me!
Chen Xi wanted to pounce on Jin Yi, but the protective ball separated him from Jin Yi. Without hesitation, Chen Xi activated the protective ball and rushed directly into Jin Yi's arms.
"No..." The air here is bad.
But Jin Yi only got started with his attempt to stop her; he didn't finish his sentence and instead let Chen Xi throw herself into his arms. Perhaps he himself needed that hug too much right now.
Jin Yi slowly tightened her arms around Chen Xi, feeling the warmth filling her embrace. She felt that her heart, which had been empty and cold during this time, was now being filled.
With a thud, the protective ball, now freed from its owner's control, fell from mid-air and crashed in front of Carlo.
Carlo, however, didn't even blink, staring blankly at the little cutie who had shed its protective shell and jumped into the arms of the blond figure in mid-air.
Even from a distance, he couldn't mistake the happy smile on the little cutie's face, or the way she was tightly holding that blond figure.
After a long while, Carlo finally looked away from the figures embracing in the air and stared blankly at the transparent protective shell that had landed in front of him. His mind seemed to have rusted. After a few more seconds, the thought popped into his head: Oh, so this shell isn't part of the little cutie's body.
Carlo used the greatest self-control he had ever had to slowly compose himself.
He told himself that Little Cutie seemed to know that blond figure. In any case, it was good that Little Cutie was alright. And maybe things weren't as he thought. Once Little Cutie came down, everything would be clear.
As if in response to Carlo's expectations, the two who had been embracing tightly in mid-air finally passed the most excited period at the beginning. Chen Xi thought of her friends below and realized that they must be terrified by the sudden appearance of the Zhi Clan army. She quickly tugged at Jin Yi's clothes and descended from mid-air.
After landing on the ground, Chenxi looked around and quickly spotted Carlo. Then, she took Jin Yi's hand and jogged over to him. "Carlo, don't be afraid. Let me introduce you. This is my partner, Jin Yi!"
Carlo, whose last glimmer of hope had been ruthlessly shattered... looked at the tall, imposing man beside Chen Xi, with eyes as indifferent as a god's.
So, is this the clingy, affectionate, and gentle companion from the same tribe that the little cutie was talking about?!
...
Author's Note: Carlo: I suspect you're giving me false information.
