Chapter 6 (2)

Chapter 6 (2)

Yu Rui had been working as an assistant's assistant for some time, but she had never seen Han Guang in person. Han Guang existed only as a legend. An online search revealed only a few silhouettes and a few frontal photos, but they were few and mostly blurry, from years ago. Rui asked Ye Cha, who leaned over to confirm, "Fake photos."

After starting work here, Yu Rui couldn't help but reflect. She'd made a mistake by hiring a small-time boss like Shi Tongguang. It showed a lack of ambition and vision. In the past, Yu Rui wouldn't even dare to think about a man of Han Guang's stature—and she still wouldn't. Yu Rui tapped her head lightly with a pen, silently repeating, "Work hard, work hard."

I got to know Ye Cha well. He did reveal some information about Han Guang. He started out making umbrellas and bamboo products, then electricity meters, then finance and real estate, and now he's started working in culture and so on. Mr. Han is also a Buddhist and has dedicated a long-burning sea lantern on Mount Jiuhua. "Mr. Han is a mystery." When he said this, Ye Cha had a look of admiration on his face. It was obvious that he wasn't acting, but speaking from the heart. Ye Cha danced with joy, "That strategic vision, that sharpness, that aura," his face twitched slightly. Yu Rui couldn't hold back her laughter. She even felt that Ye Cha was a little in love with Mr. Han. Just like a follower falling in love with Dongfang Bubai. Yu Rui had suspected Ye Cha's orientation because he didn't care about her at all and turned a blind eye to her face, breasts, and butt.

Yu Rui got a vague clue from Sister Weng—she never mentioned Mr. Han in front of her, but once on the phone, she mentioned Mr. Han and the Xin family, sounding anxious. Yu Rui suspected that these groups must be inextricably linked. Yu Rui reminded herself to be careful, be cautious. But unexpectedly, she still made a big fool of herself.

The group was recruiting, primarily for lower-middle management positions. As the department head, Ye Cha had also been called in. He kept his eyes peeled. He assigned Yu Rui to maintain order at the door and sign in. Most of the applicants were men in their early thirties, with some older, around forty, but without exception, they possessed extensive work experience. Yu Rui sat at the door, surveying the men. Some wore suits, others casual jackets. Their hair was well-groomed, and they appeared energetic, but their facial expressions were solemn and tense. When someone emerged, the applicants swarmed around him, asking about the situation. This was a major workplace taboo. The man, seemingly willing to share his experience, smiled wryly and explained what questions he had asked. Seeing this, Yu Rui had no choice but to send them away.

No one listened. Yu Rui had no choice but to shout, "Everyone, pay attention! It's an interview inside, and there might be an interview outside as well. There are cameras watching." The applicant suddenly realized that the company had many tricks, so it was best not to ask.

The corridor gradually became quiet, but someone who didn't know what to do walked up to Yu Rui and asked her across a small table, "What's going on in there?"

Yu Rui looked up at him and refused to answer.

"How many interviews can you have this morning?" he asked again. Yu Rui then took a closer look at this tactless man. He looked to be in his forties, with small eyes, a square chin, and a face that was not very fleshy, giving him a clean and neat look. His hair was not gelled or waxed, but fluffy, as if he had just washed it. He wore a black jacket, an old one, black pants, black leather shoes, and a light blue shirt.

"Applying for a job?" Yu Rui asked. The man didn't say anything. Yu Rui took the pen and placed it in front of him. "Sign in."

Each of her words was brief. Business as usual. The man picked up the sign-in sheet, glanced at it, and put it down again. What did this mean? Disrespect for the recruitment process? Yu Rui ignored him. The man found an empty space and stood aside. A moment later, Ye Cha came out to the bathroom and saw the prickly-haired man. He welcomed him in like he was a god.

Only then did Yu Rui realize that she had gotten into trouble.

He is Han Guang.

Really, rich people just love to play these kinds of tricks. This isn't Kangxi going on an incognito tour, so why should it be necessary? He deliberately sets things up so that those below him can look down on him, and then pulls off a twist, leaving the despisers feeling utterly ashamed. This is a theatrical addiction, a disease, and it needs to be treated! Yu Rui sighed inwardly, it's all over, she might even be out of a job.

A few days passed without any news. Yu Rui, Alice, didn't report it to Jack, Ye Cha either. Perhaps it would just pass without mentioning it, and confessing without any explanation would only earn Ye Cha some ridicule.

Then things got busy again. She helped Sister Weng borrow clothes. But one time was special: she wanted to borrow a set of clothes that would look good on a little girl. Yu Rui didn't understand what she meant. Was the target audience a little girl?

"How old?" she asked.

"Eighteen or nineteen." Sister Weng replied.

"What do you mean by looking comfortable?"

"Let her accept you." Sister Weng was already a little impatient.

After much deliberation, Celine was still a safe bet. However, she was soon asked to return the dress. The event was canceled, and it seemed the girl wasn't coming. That evening, Yu Rui had just finished applying her facial mask when she received a call from Ye Cha. It was an urgent task; he asked her to pick someone up at the airport. Her surname was Han, and her name was Xiqian. She was Han Guang's only daughter.

Yu Rui went through her journey from home to the airport, roughly mapping out a chain of cause and effect from all the relevant information. Sister Weng borrowed the clothes to wear to meet Han Xiqian, but for various reasons, she was unwilling to see her. So, Celine canceled the meeting. But the young lady had returned, and someone had to pick her up. Ye Cha, fearing the burden of serving the young lady, temporarily promoted her to a bodyguard position.

Conclusion: Han Xiqian is a very difficult girl.

One possibility couldn't be ruled out: she hated Sister Weng because she was obsessed with marrying Xiqian's father, Han Guang. So, what was the best approach? Yu Rui pondered. She couldn't offend the girl, as she held sway over Han Guang; nor could she offend Sister Weng, as they were close friends.

Yu Rui believes that she must convey a signal: she is a woman who has no desires and does not fight or compete.

Fortunately, she was dressed sloppily, with a bulky pullover and unimpressive flat shoes. Before she saw the girl, she had already removed her makeup and looked haggard and weak.

The person was picked up. At first glance, she looked like an ordinary little girl. But as soon as Han Xiqian opened her mouth, Yu Rui could sense her power. "Who hired you?"

"Ye Cha." Yu Rui answered truthfully, "Oh no, Jack."

"What Jack! From Zhumadian." The little girl knew Ye Cha inside and out. "Will you accompany me from now on?" she asked again. Yu Rui was not sure, but she agreed anyway. Stay in a hotel that night. Ye Cha arranged it. Next, Yu Rui's task was to accompany the eldest lady for a few days. President Han went to Central Asia to inspect a project and could not come back for a while. Han Xiqian was passing through China and would stay for a few days, so she needed someone to accompany her. She did not want Weng Yue to accompany her. She had given this woman enough face during the last Chinese New Year. Could she not meet him? She hated her fake smile of pretending to care. Who didn't know her purpose? It's been so many years! The weasel pays New Year's greetings to the chicken.

Yu Rui thought Han Xiqian was going to eat, drink, and have some fun, but when she woke up, Xiqian went straight to the office. Yu Rui had no choice but to accompany her. As the elevator door opened, she ran into Bai Yuankai. Xiqian excitedly went to shake his hand, "Teacher Bai!" Yuankai was confused. Seeing Yu Rui there, he nodded slightly.

Han Xiqian knew all about Yuan Kai's achievements during his time in the United States. She regarded him as her idol. Sitting on her father's big chair, the little girl sighed, saying that it would be great if she could have a meal with Teacher Bai and Senior Brother Bai. Ye Cha heard this and went to Yu Rui to coordinate, "Don't you know that Bai?" Yu Rui was reluctant to speak up and said she didn't know him. Ye Cha was anxious, "Okay, you've been flirting with me several times in the elevator. Do you think I'm blind? Hurry up and make arrangements. Don't underestimate this little girl. She might become our new boss in the future."

Have vision.

So Yu Rui put her face on the line and said it was a work requirement, and Yuan Kai immediately agreed, and the lunch was set. Xi Qian was so excited that she was spinning around, saying that she wasn't as excited as meeting a celebrity.

"Japan proposed the concept of One Piece Flow, which means that the entire production process from raw materials to production and processing to the final product is very stable. There is no pause or rework in the entire process, and the first-time pass rate of parts is very high. Through such standardized process control, some factories can achieve a tolerance of 9.6 sigma, which means there are only 1.5 defective parts for every 1 million parts." Bai Yuankai is particularly charming when talking about his profession.

It was rare for Han Xiqian to be able to continue the conversation. "The introduction of artificial intelligence technology into the industrial field should be done through integration, not as a disruptor..."

Yu Rui listened silently, admiring Yuan Kai, who remained so energetic, full of ideals and radiant. She envied Xi Qian, whose privileged family background had exposed her to many valuable things early in life, creating a gap between her and children from less privileged backgrounds—a "knowledge gap." Unlike her, who relied solely on her past achievements and, as she aged, could only expand her horizons through relationships. They all came from technical backgrounds.

She is a politician in life.

"Thank you." After lunch, Yu Rui shook hands with Yuan Kai while Xi Qian went to the bathroom.

"Very pleasant." He smiled and stepped forward to hug her. Yu Rui suddenly realized that she had no desire for the man before her—no physical desire. He was so clear and simple, and he wasn't very old.

After dinner, Xiqian described Yuan Kai as "a modest gentleman, gentle as jade." She then asked, "How long have you known him? How did you meet him?" Yu Rui replied, "Not long ago, we met at work." She lied slightly. Xiqian then asked, "Does he have a girlfriend now?" Yu Rui said she wasn't sure.

Xi Qian added, "Senior's past stories, wow, it's a blockbuster movie."

Yu Rui didn't understand what she meant.

"He talked to the daughter of some Arab sheikh."

Breaking news. Yu Rui tried her best to keep her composure.

"He could do nothing his whole life."

This was once Yu Rui's dream.

"But he didn't choose that," Xi Qian said. "He deserves admiration." After a pause, she added, "A person must always demonstrate his or her own value while alive."
