Chapter 4: Falling into the Qianlong Era of the Qing Dynasty, Moving into the Military Camp

Perhaps she was too focused on her wound, because Yan Ning did not hear the footsteps outside the military tent until Fukang'an lifted the curtain and entered.

Fukang'an stood frozen at the doorway, not expecting to see such a scene. His young and handsome face showed a hint of embarrassment.

Yan Ning was displeased and quickly covered her legs with her cloak, asking coldly, "Why didn't you knock?" She completely forgot that she was in someone else's camp.

Fukang'an glanced at the curtain, then at Yan Ning, and said calmly, "There's no door to knock on!"

Seeing his self-righteous attitude, Yan Ning felt even more displeased. However, she was currently subservient to him and could not leave alone. She could only watch with slightly widened eyes as Fukang'an walked in expressionlessly.

He walked to Yan Ning's side and placed a set of military uniform on the bed. "There are no women in the military camp. Change into this first. The fighting here is urgent right now, so don't wander around. We'll take you back when we return to the capital victorious." His voice was deep and powerful, unlike his age.

The brand-new soldier's uniform, gray with a front opening, has a large "soldier" character on it.

"Thank you." Yan Ning hadn't recovered from what had just happened and replied coldly.

In the sweltering heat of April, the air was thick with humidity and stillness. Fukang'an, clad in heavy armor, was drenched in sweat. Drops of sweat dripped onto his long, curled eyelashes, shattering into countless fragments, blurring his vision as he looked at Yan Ning.

Like Yan Ning surrounded by rain and mist, although she is a beautiful woman, she exudes a cold aura. Like a lotus flower, she rises from the mud unsullied and remains pure and unpretentious.

A surge of emotion welled up within Fukang'an's young heart. He sat down against the table and saw Yan Ning's tightly closed lips and eyes filled with indifference. He pondered for a moment; though she wore strange clothes and her origins were unknown, she didn't seem to be a member of a cult. She probably had nowhere to go, so he'd leave her in the military camp for now. If she dared to cause trouble, the menacing aura of the camp alone would be enough to bury her.

Yan Ning looked at Fukang'an, who had been frowning, and her heart was also filled with worries. She couldn't figure out what was going on.

"General!" Hearing Zhao Xing call him from the doorway, Fukang'an mentally calculated the time and knew that the spy had returned, so he quickly went out.

The heavy armor of Fukang'an made a scraping sound, which gradually moved away from Yan Ning's ears, giving her a somewhat unreal feeling.

Inside the military tent, Fukang'an listened to the reports from his spies, his gaze distant.

"General, the enemy's fortifications are mostly fortified, making them easy to defend and difficult to attack!" The spy knelt below, his face showing distress.

"Alright, I understand. You can go now." At this moment, Fukang'an's expression grew increasingly solemn.

"Yes, I'll take my leave."

Fukang'an walked to the sand table and looked at it for a while. His tightly furrowed brows slowly relaxed, and a confident smile curved his lips. His young face under the blue armor looked even more heroic.
