Chapter 105 Reuniting with Old Friends, A Feeling of Things Changing

In the long, winding years of the prosperous dynasty, Ling Yichen and Jun Moran strive to establish themselves in this unfamiliar ancient world, gradually adapting to their new identities and lives. They make a name for themselves in the ancient entertainment industry and steadily advance on the path of cultural inheritance and exchange. However, deep in their hearts, they always harbor a longing for modern life and a yearning for old friends. The wheel of fate quietly turns, and on a seemingly ordinary day, an unexpected reunion acts like a key, unlocking the door to their hearts that holds sealed memories and emotions, allowing them to deeply feel the vicissitudes of life and the melancholy of things having changed.

It was a bright and sunny spring day. The city market was bustling with activity, teeming with people. Ling Yichen and Jun Mo Ran had arranged to go to the market together to buy some daily necessities and materials for embroidery. They weaved through the crowd, surrounded by the sounds of vendors hawking their wares and haggling over prices, the dazzling array of goods overwhelming their senses. Jun Mo Ran stopped at a stall selling silk threads. She carefully selected the threads, her fingers gently tracing the colorful spools, her eyes revealing focus and delight. Ling Yichen waited patiently beside her, his gaze casually sweeping across the crowd. Suddenly, a familiar figure caught his eye.

It was a man dressed in ancient attire, tall and handsome. Although he wore ancient clothing, the expression in his eyes seemed strangely familiar to Ling Yichen. A thought struck him, and he unconsciously walked towards the man. As he approached, the man noticed his gaze, turned around, and their eyes met. In that instant, an indescribable shock and surprise flashed in their eyes.

"Zixuan? Is it really you?" Ling Yichen exclaimed excitedly. The man was slightly taken aback, then an expression of disbelief appeared on his face: "Yichen? What are you doing here?" It turned out that this man was none other than Lu Zixuan, Ling Yichen's good friend from the modern world. They had worked together in the modern entertainment industry, experiencing countless joys and sorrows together, and were each other's most trusted friends. However, at this moment, reuniting in this distant ancient world, they both felt as if they were in a dream, unable to believe that everything before them was real.

Hearing Ling Yichen's call, Jun Mo Ran looked up and saw this scene. She hurried over, and when she saw Lu Zixuan, her eyes were filled with surprise and excitement: "Zixuan, I really didn't expect to see you here!" Lu Zixuan looked at Ling Yichen and Jun Mo Ran, his heart filled with mixed emotions. He looked them up and down and found that although they were wearing ancient clothing, their demeanor remained unchanged. "What happened to you two? How did we end up in this era?" Lu Zixuan asked in confusion.

Ling Yichen and Jun Mozhan exchanged a glance, then briefly recounted their time-travel experience to Lu Zixuan. Lu Zixuan listened with awe, exclaiming, "This is unbelievable! I only remember that during a break from filming a period drama, I suddenly felt dizzy and lost consciousness. When I woke up, I found myself in this strange world."

The three of them found a relatively quiet teahouse, sat down, and began to chat. Ling Yichen looked at Lu Zixuan, his heart filled with emotion. In modern times, Lu Zixuan was a talented director with unique insights and keen observation of film. His films had won numerous awards at major film festivals both domestically and internationally. He was always full of energy and passion, with boundless aspirations and plans for the future. However, the Lu Zixuan sitting before him now, while still possessing that unique charisma, had a hint of weariness and vicissitude in his eyes.

"Zixuan, how are you doing in this era?" Ling Yichen asked with concern. Lu Zixuan sighed softly and said, "At first, I really couldn't adapt. I didn't know anything and didn't know how to survive in this world. However, fortunately, I had some knowledge of ancient history and culture, and with this knowledge, I got a job writing scripts in a theatrical troupe. Although life was okay, it was still very different from modern times."

Jun Mo Ran looked at Lu Zixuan, a wave of pity washing over her. She recalled how, in modern times, Lu Zixuan always dressed fashionably, frequented high-end venues, and was surrounded by numerous friends and fans. Now, however, he could only silently struggle for survival in this ancient opera troupe. "Zixuan, you must have suffered a lot," Jun Mo Ran said softly. Lu Zixuan shook his head slightly, smiling bitterly, and said, "The hardship is secondary; it's mainly the loneliness. In this world, without familiar family, friends, and modern entertainment, sometimes I really feel very lonely."

They continued their conversation, their topics ranging from the modern entertainment industry to ancient culture and art, from their respective time-travel experiences to their future plans in this era. Ling Yichen and Jun Moran recounted their various experiences in ancient times to Lu Zixuan, including teaching at the academy, running an embroidery shop, and their innovations and developments in the ancient entertainment industry. After listening, Lu Zixuan expressed his admiration for their achievements: "You are truly remarkable, to have accomplished so much in this unfamiliar world."

However, during their conversations, they inevitably felt the profound disparity between the past and present. In modern times, they could contact friends anytime, anywhere with their mobile phones, access news and information from around the world via the internet, watch the latest movies in modern cinemas, and perform on spacious, bright stages. Now, in this ancient world, all of this had become unattainable luxuries. They could only communicate with distant friends through letters, a slow and inconvenient process; they could only watch theatrical performances in simple theaters or the mansions of high-ranking officials, with relatively limited forms and content; their stage had changed from modern theaters to ancient stages, requiring constant adaptation and adjustment to their performance styles and techniques.
