Chapter 131 Crisis and Opportunity After the Rainstorm

The sudden downpour, like a ferocious beast, turned the meticulously constructed filming location into a complete mess. Ling Yichen and Jun Mo Ran stood under a makeshift rain shelter, gazing at the scene ravaged by the rain, their hearts filled with anxiety and helplessness. This storm not only destroyed parts of the carefully crafted ancient scenery but also severely delayed filming, leaving the entire crew seemingly trapped in a dark quagmire, with no glimmer of hope in sight.

The torrential rain finally stopped, and the crew quickly began cleaning up the site and restoring the sets. Old Wang, in charge of set construction, walked through the ruins with a worried expression, shaking his head and sighing as he looked at the washed-out mountains and collapsed buildings. "The losses are enormous. Many sets were built to high precision; restoring them to their original state will probably take a lot of time and money," he said anxiously as he approached Ling Yichen.

Ling Yichen frowned, his gaze sweeping over the ruins. After a moment of contemplation, he said, "Master Wang, no matter the cost, we must repair it as soon as possible. But we also need to find ways to optimize the repair plan and see if we can shorten the time and save costs while ensuring the effectiveness. You and your team should carefully study which parts can be quickly rebuilt using existing materials and which parts can have their designs adjusted appropriately."

Old Wang nodded helplessly and turned to lead his team to get to work. Meanwhile, Jun Mo Ran was tallying the damage to the equipment. Due to the sudden downpour, some filming equipment hadn't been moved in time and suffered varying degrees of damage. "The camera lenses are wet, several lighting devices are short-circuited, and some special effects props are ruined," Jun Mo Ran said anxiously to Ling Yi Chen, holding the list. "Equipment repair and replacement will cost a lot of money, and time is of the essence; it's uncertain whether it can be repaired in time."

Ling Yichen rubbed his temples, knowing full well that the crew's current predicament was like an insurmountable mountain. Funding was already tight, and this downpour was undoubtedly making matters worse. But he forced himself to remain calm and reassured Jun Mozhan, "Don't panic. Let's contact the equipment repair personnel first and see if we can expedite the process. As for funding, I'll think of a way and use my connections to raise funds."

Just as everyone was in a state of panic, an uninvited guest quietly arrived at the filming location. He was an investment consultant named Lin Hui, who had previously heard about the preparations for Ling Yichen and Jun Moran's innovative drama and had been paying close attention. After the recent rainstorm, he keenly sensed its potential commercial value and decided to come and investigate.

Lin Hui approached Ling Yichen and got straight to the point: "Mr. Ling, I am very interested in your project. I know you are facing difficulties right now, but I believe this is only temporary. If you are willing, I can provide the production team with some funding to help you overcome these challenges."

A flicker of surprise crossed Ling Yichen's eyes, but he quickly regained his guard. He knew that businessmen were driven by profit, and the other party's sudden offer of investment must have its own considerations. "Mr. Lin, thank you for your kindness. But we need to understand your investment terms and your expectations for the production team," Ling Yichen said calmly.

Lin Hui smiled slightly and said unhurriedly, "My investment conditions are very simple. I hope to obtain a certain percentage of shares, and at the same time, I hope to have a certain say in publicity and promotion. I believe that once this drama is successful, it will bring huge commercial returns. Moreover, I have abundant resources and channels that can help you expand your influence."

Ling Yichen fell into deep thought. This was indeed a good opportunity to solve the funding problem, but he was also worried that the involvement of investors would affect the creative freedom of the production team. He turned to look at Jun Mo Ran, their eyes met, and they understood each other perfectly. Jun Mo Ran nodded slightly, indicating that he could consider it.

After careful consideration, Ling Yichen decided to further discuss the details of the collaboration with Lin Hui. During the negotiations, Ling Yichen argued forcefully, securing maximum creative autonomy for the production team. Ultimately, both parties reached a cooperation agreement, and Lin Hui's funds were quickly secured, providing strong support for the production team's equipment maintenance and set restoration.

With funding secured, the crew's restoration work progressed rapidly. Technicians worked day and night to repair damaged equipment; the set construction team employed new materials and techniques, not only speeding up the restoration process but also improving the quality of the sets to some extent. Through everyone's concerted efforts, the filming location gradually returned to its former glory.

However, new problems arose. Due to delays in filming, the originally scheduled shooting dates had to be adjusted. This resulted in scheduling conflicts with some actors, as some actors had other commitments and were unable to film according to the new schedule.

Ling Yichen and Jun Mozhan found themselves in a predicament once again. They knew that these actors had been selected through rigorous auditions and were highly suited to their roles. Replacing them would not only affect the performance but could also trigger a series of chain reactions. They began communicating with each actor individually, trying to negotiate a solution.

After much effort, most of the actors expressed their willingness to coordinate their schedules and cooperate with the production team. However, one actor playing an important supporting role was unable to spare the time due to an urgent need to film another drama. Left with no other option, Ling Yichen and Jun Moran had to reconsider the casting for that role.

They urgently convened a small audition, selecting several promising candidates from their previously compiled list of actors. During the audition, a young actress named Su Yue stood out. Although she didn't have much acting experience before, her understanding and interpretation of the character were spot-on, and her unique acting style injected new vitality into the role. Ling Yichen and Jun Moran exchanged a smile; they seemed to see new hope.
