Chapter 194 Secret Investigation and Perilous Encirclement

Ling Yichen stood at the warehouse entrance, completely surrounded by police. The blinding flashing lights of the police cars felt like shackles to him, the alternating red and blue lights making him feel cold. He subconsciously gripped the pocket containing the mysterious note, wondering what the police were up to and whether the secret clues for the new drama would be cut off.

Ling Yichen's heart pounded like thunder, each beat causing a sharp pain in his chest. The rapid thumping was still clearly audible despite the sirens. The pungent smell of gunpowder lingered in the air, mingling with the damp sea breeze, making his breathing heavy. His gaze swept across the faces of the surrounding police officers, trying to glean a trace of kindness or malice from their expressions, but their serious faces acted like an invisible wall, completely obscuring his thoughts.

"I am the victim of the attack, why are you arresting me?" Ling Yichen tried his best to make his voice sound calm, but his slightly trembling tone still betrayed his inner tension.

The lead police officer had a stern expression and stared intently at Ling Yichen: "Someone has reported that you are involved in a series of dangerous incidents. We need your cooperation in the investigation." The officer's voice was deep and powerful, echoing in the empty dock, carrying an unquestionable authority.

Ling Yichen's heart sank. He knew he couldn't easily reveal the existence of the note at this moment. "I can cooperate, but I'm also investigating the truth. Someone has been trying to stop me from uncovering the secrets of the new drama," Ling Yichen tried to explain, but his eyes remained vigilantly observing his surroundings.

Just then, a sharp cry of a seagull pierced the sky. Ling Yichen subconsciously looked up and saw several seagulls circling overhead, their white figures standing out starkly against the gray sky. The sea breeze grew stronger, creaking and groaning through the dilapidated warehouse, as if telling the secrets of this abandoned place.

The police began searching Ling Yichen. Ling Yichen was startled; his hand unconsciously tightened its grip on his pocket, but the police still managed to find the note. "What's this?" the policeman asked, holding up the note, his eyes revealing suspicion and wariness.

"It's just a useless note, I don't know where it came from," Ling Yichen said, trying to appear calm, but his eyes betrayed him, revealing tension and worry in his slightly flickering gaze.

The police ignored Ling Yichen's answer and instead carefully examined the numbers and address on the slip of paper. Ling Yichen's heart suddenly raced, his palms were sweaty, and he nervously awaited the police's next move. At this moment, a tense atmosphere filled the air; besides the howling sea breeze, there were the police officers' hushed conversations, each word like a heavy hammer blow to Ling Yichen's heart.

Suddenly, a young policeman stepped forward and whispered a few words in the ear of the lead officer. The lead officer's expression changed slightly, and his gaze fell on Ling Yichen again, a complex meaning appearing in his eyes.

"Come with us to the police station," the lead officer said, his tone leaving no room for negotiation.

Ling Yichen had no choice but to get into the police car with the officers. The car reeked of a mixture of leather and disinfectant, making him feel uncomfortable. Outside the window, the abandoned docks receded into the distance, but Ling Yichen's thoughts grew increasingly chaotic. He didn't know what information the police possessed, nor what the consequences would be if this note fell into their hands.

Upon arriving at the police station, Ling Yichen was taken to an interrogation room. The room was brightly lit, making his eyes sting. The air was thick with a musty smell, mixed with a faint scent of smoke, which made him feel even more depressed.

"Tell me, what does the information on this note mean?" The police officer sat opposite Ling Yichen, his eyes fixed on him.

Ling Yichen took a deep breath; he knew he had to come up with a plausible explanation. "I found it in the ruins, and I want to figure out what's on it. I suspect it's related to the secrets of the new drama," Ling Yichen said, trying to make his voice sound sincere.

The police officer frowned, clearly dissatisfied with Ling Yichen's answer. "The secret of the new drama? You'd better tell the truth, or you'll face even bigger trouble." The officer's voice was cold, tinged with a threat.

Ling Yichen remained silent, his mind racing as he considered a solution. Suddenly, an idea struck him, and he said, "You can help me investigate. I trust your abilities; perhaps we can unravel this mystery together."

The police officers exchanged glances, seemingly weighing Ling Yichen's suggestion. Just then, the interrogation room door suddenly opened, and a policeman rushed in, whispering a few words in the ear of the lead officer. The lead officer's expression changed drastically; he quickly stood up and said to the other officers, "Immediately seal off the police station and increase security!"

Ling Yichen was startled; he had no idea what had happened. "What's wrong? What happened?" Ling Yichen asked anxiously.

The police officer did not answer his question, but instead told him, "You stay here for now, and don't go anywhere." After saying that, he and the other officers hurriedly left the interrogation room.

Ling Yichen sat alone in the interrogation room, his heart filled with doubt and unease. He heard a commotion of footsteps and shouts outside, as if some emergency had occurred. He stood up, walked to the door, and tried to see what was happening outside through the small window in the door, but he could see nothing but swaying figures.

Suddenly, he heard a violent explosion, the sound shaking the walls of the interrogation room. Ling Yichen took a few steps back in terror, his heart pounding wildly, not knowing what was happening outside.
