Ling Yichen's finger was tightly gripping the trigger, sweat dripping down his arm and onto the cold gun, making a soft sound. The black-clad men in front of him formed an impenetrable circle, each cold face exuding danger. His fate and that of the policeman beside him were like candles flickering in the wind, ready to be extinguished at any moment. Yet the secret of the new drama remained hidden deep in the fog, waiting for them to uncover it.
Ling Yichen took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, but the tense atmosphere in the air was like an invisible net, binding him tightly. The pungent smell of car exhaust mixed with a faint stench of blood made him frown involuntarily. His gaze swept across the faces of the men in black, trying to find a weakness, but the men's cold eyes sent a chill down his spine, as if he were facing a group of emotionless killing machines.
"Trying to catch us? Not so easy!" Ling Yichen shouted, his voice echoing in the empty parking lot, carrying a hint of desperate resolve. Though his voice was firm, the slight tremor at the end betrayed his inner tension. The policeman beside him gripped his weapon tightly, large beads of sweat rolling down his forehead, gleaming coldly in the lamplight.
The leader of the men in black sneered, a laugh as sinister as the cry of an owl in the silence. "You're not getting away today. Hand over the chip obediently, and maybe we'll spare your lives." As he spoke, the man in black slowly approached, the weapon in his hand gleaming coldly in the moonlight.
Ling Yichen's heart skipped a beat. He instinctively gripped the chip in his pocket, as if it were his last lifeline. "Don't even think about it. Come and take it if you dare!" Ling Yichen retorted defiantly, while simultaneously signaling to the police to prepare to break through the encirclement.
Suddenly, the parking lot lights flickered a few times and then went out, plunging the world into darkness. Ling Yichen was startled; he knew this was a good opportunity to break out, but the darkness also made the situation more dangerous. The acrid smell of gunpowder permeated the darkness, and he heard the shouts and footsteps of the men in black, echoing in all directions, making it impossible to discern their direction.
"Follow me!" Ling Yichen whispered to the policeman, and the two cautiously moved towards the edge of the parking lot. In the darkness, their footsteps made a slight scraping sound on the ground, each step taken with extreme care. Ling Yichen's eyes gradually adjusted to the darkness, and he saw an abandoned warehouse ahead, perhaps where they could find hiding place.
Just as they were about to reach the warehouse, a blinding flashlight beam shone, instantly illuminating their figures. "There they are! Catch them!" the man in black shouted in the darkness, followed by a burst of gunfire that shattered the silence.
Ling Yichen and the police quickly took cover behind a car. Bullets struck the vehicle with a series of bangs, sparks flying. Ling Yichen's heart pounded wildly; he could hear his own heartbeat clearly amidst the gunfire, as if it were about to burst through his chest. Through the gaps in the car, he saw men in black approaching them, their weapons gleaming coldly.
"This can't go on; we have to find a way to break out," the policeman said anxiously, his voice tinged with despair.
Ling Yichen nodded. He looked around and noticed a narrow alley on the other side of the parking lot. "We'll break out through that alley. The terrain there is complicated, and they won't have a good chance of catching up," Ling Yichen said.
The two exchanged a glance, then simultaneously rose and rushed towards the alley. Their footsteps pounded on the ground, followed by shouts and gunshots from the men in black. Ling Yichen could feel the bullets whizzing past his ears; the sharp sound sent chills down his spine.
Finally, they rushed into the alley. A damp, musty smell permeated the alley, mixed with the stench of rotting garbage, making them want to vomit. Ling Yichen and the policeman ran desperately through the narrow alley, the cobblestone path beneath their feet uneven, every step fraught with danger. Their breaths were rapid and heavy, echoing through the alley like the footsteps of death itself.
Suddenly, Ling Yichen heard a violent explosion behind him. He instinctively turned around and saw the parking lot engulfed in flames, with flames shooting into the sky. "What happened?" Ling Yichen was filled with doubt. He didn't know how the explosion was caused. Was there a problem within the men in black, or was someone else secretly helping them?
Ling Yichen and the police had no time to think; they continued running forward. After running for a while, they found an abandoned factory at the end of the alley. The factory gate was tightly closed, and it was surrounded by high walls.
"Let's go in and take a look; maybe we can find a way out," Ling Yichen said.
The two arrived at the factory gate. Ling Yichen pushed the gate forcefully and found that it was unlocked. They cautiously entered the factory, which was filled with a pungent smell of machine oil. Dim lights flickered in the empty factory.
Ling Yichen's gaze swept across the factory. He saw some dilapidated machines and equipment, casting eerie shadows in the dim light. Suddenly, he heard a faint noise coming from a corner of the factory, the sound like someone crying softly.
"Who's there?" Ling Yichen asked warily, pointing his gun at the source of the voice.
No one answered, but the crying grew louder. Ling Yichen and the police slowly walked towards the corner, their footsteps echoing in the empty factory, each step filled with tension and vigilance.
When they finally reached the corner, they found it deserted, save for an old radio playing eerie music. Ling Yichen frowned, turned off the radio, and his doubts deepened. What secrets did this abandoned factory hold? What did that mysterious weeping and music mean?
Just then, Ling Yichen's phone rang. He took out his phone, and an unfamiliar number appeared on the screen. He hesitated for a moment, then pressed the answer button.
"Hey, who are you?" Ling Yichen asked warily.
A deep voice came from the other end of the phone: "Want to know the secret of the chip? Come alone to the basement of the abandoned factory in an hour, or the secret will be lost forever." With that, the other party hung up.
Ling Yichen's face turned extremely ugly. He knew this was another trap, but he had no choice. The secret of the new drama was within reach; he couldn't give up.
"What's wrong?" The police officer asked worriedly, noticing Ling Yichen's expression.
Ling Yichen told the police what had happened on the phone, and the police officer's expression turned very ugly.
"This is too dangerous, it's clearly a trap!" the police officer said.
Ling Yichen took a deep breath: "I know, but I have to go. The secret of the new drama is there, and I can't let all our previous efforts go to waste."
After saying that, Ling Yichen ignored the police's attempts to stop him and walked towards the factory's basement. His figure appeared particularly lonely in the dim light, as if he were about to be swallowed by the darkness.
