Chapter 18 Young Xie Ting
The young man frowned, his sharp-edged brows and bright-eyed face fixed on Xie Rongying, who was very close to him, and said with a playful smile, "How come the Xie family's eldest daughter, who is so elegant and kind-hearted, and so beautiful, speaks in such an old-fashioned tone after getting married?"
Xie Rongying's eyebrows twitched slightly. She recalled that she and this cousin who had no blood relationship with her seemed to have never been brothers and sisters.
It just so happened that I met this cousin again after a lifetime.
After her rebirth, she looked at these young boys and girls and found it difficult to get along with them as they were about the same age.
"What do you mean by acting so condescendingly? Do you even know how to speak, little brat?" Xie Yi scolded him lightly. Although the young man in front of him had completely integrated into the Xie family and the family members did not treat him any differently, there was still a layer of estrangement between them.
Xie Yi was naturally happy that Xie Rongying could be close to him and his son. He patted the young man and said, "Sit down nicely."
The young man frowned.
"Call me elder sister quickly." Xie Yi said with a smile.
Xie Ting's eyes sparkled, and his thin lips curled up: "What are father and elder sister doing here?"
"Why are you here?" Xie Yi asked with a raised eyebrow.
Xie Ting's father looked slightly displeased, and he sat up straighter. He said, "I was just at Fengle Tower with the King of Wei. I saw your carriage and came to see it. I didn't expect it to be a meeting with my eldest sister."
"King Wei?" Xie Yi's face was filled with displeasure. Due to Xie Rongying's presence, he couldn't say much. He warned, "Didn't I tell you not to associate with the King Wei?"
Xie Ting chuckled twice and looked at Xie Rongying again: "Why is my eldest sister here with father?"
"I have something to discuss with Fourth Uncle." It was not surprising that Xie Rongying could see the clues of the father and son. After all, she had lived a lifetime in her previous life, and the situation of the royal family was complicated. In addition, the emperor was almost forty years old when he ascended the throne. If it were not for the many counselors around him, the throne of Dayin might not have fallen into the hands of the current emperor.
The current government controls the former royal family members with benevolence and righteousness, and does not kill them all, thinking that they will surrender.
How do we know that human hearts are the most vulnerable to scrutiny?
How could an emperor in a high position not see the ugliness in people's hearts?
I just want to hear my good name from the mouths of people all over the world.
"What's the matter that requires discussion with my father?" Xie Ting raised an eyebrow. "Were you bullied in the Yongyi Marquis's residence?"
"Not really." Xie Rongying's gaze lingered on the young man's face for a while. No wonder her grandmother was so confused by this cousin's coaxing. Anyone would be happy to see such a face coaxing them every day.
"You are not allowed to have any contact with the King of Wei anymore." Xie Yi became serious, his eyes becoming colder. "Your last name is Xie, don't you know why the King of Wei is contacting you?"
"Dad," Xie Ting lowered his eyes, "I know my limits."
"You have your limits! You have your limits!" Xie Yi was wary of Xie Ting associating with members of the royal family. Although he knew that Xie Ting would not be fooled by others, he was still dissatisfied with getting close to members of the royal family.
Seeing that both father and son's expressions had grown serious, Xie Rongying immediately spoke up, "How's the matter I discussed with Fourth Uncle last time?"
Xie Yi glared at Xie Ting, almost forgetting the purpose of his meeting with Xie Rongying. He said, "There has been some progress, but the emperor's attitude towards the border war is more about negotiating peace than fighting."
"Talk about peace?" Xie Rongying frowned. "Why? The Jin people are constantly provoking us, and we have to endure this?"
"Eldest sister, you also know those civil servants in the court. Whatever they say makes sense even to the emperor. They say why start a war and sacrifice innocent lives if we can negotiate peace? The soldiers on the border all have fathers and mothers. Don't let the old send off the young." The young man did not hide his disdain. He always disdained the remarks made in the court.
Xie Rongying chuckled: "Be careful of your mouth."
"Don't get close to King Wei in the future." Xie Yi warned again.
Xie Rongying sighed and said, "Fourth Uncle, since Ting'er and the King of Wei are so close, why don't you let Ting'er get closer?"
Xie Yi stared at Xie Rongying without blinking. Given Xie Rongying's intelligence, she should understand why he didn't let Xie Ting and King Wei get close.
"There's talk of the incredibly talented Prince Wei in Bianjing. What is Fourth Uncle worried about?" Xie Rongying picked up her wine glass and took a sip. Perhaps the wine was a bit strong, causing her to frown. "Young Ting, you don't understand. As long as the Xie family elders stay away from the royal family's gossip, that's all."
How could Xie Yi not understand what Xie Rongying meant?
It simply means that although the King of Wei is young, his status in Dayin is second only to the emperor. The emperor's sons are all mediocre, so who can predict what will happen in the future?
"Having said that, Ting'er's surname is Xie after all." This is what Xie Yi was worried about. If the Xie family was involved in the royal game, what would be the value of the efforts made by generations of the Xie family?
"Fourth Uncle." Xie Rongying chuckled, "Sometimes you have to be flexible."
"Flexibility?" Xie Yi raised his eyebrows.
Xie Rongying put down the wine glass in her hand, casually glanced at Xie Ting, and lowered her voice, "I heard that the general stationed at Gubei Pass is a subordinate of the King of Wei. If Fourth Uncle succeeds in his request for permission this time, with the care of the King of Wei's subordinates, wouldn't it be a benefit to the Xie family?"
Xie Yi's eyes were dark.
Xie Ting frowned slightly.
"My fourth uncle is far away in Gubei Pass, and the Xie family still has no connection with King Wei. It's just the friendship between Ting'er and King Wei." Xie Rongying said calmly with a smile.
Xie Yi and Xie Rongying both know Xie Ting's true identity.
If you really look into it, it's just a relationship between the royal descendants. What does it have to do with his Xie family?
"Dad, elder sister, what are you talking about?" Xie Ting asked in confusion.
Xie Yi stared at Xie Rongying without blinking: "What if the emperor insists on negotiating peace?"
"Didn't you just say you'd be flexible?" Xie Rongying's gaze fell on Xie Ting's face, and she chuckled, "I don't believe the court officials' tongues can rival the King of Wei, who can cover the sky with one hand."
"Rongying," Xie Yi was displeased that Xie Rongying was taking advantage of Xie Ting.
Xie Rongying chuckled, her eyes curved like the crescent moon in the night sky. "What's wrong with contributing to the Xie family, descendants of the Xie family?" Then she looked at Xie Ting and said, "Brother Ting, I think that since Fourth Uncle has requested permission to go to war, you should find a way to get the King of Wei involved. We should fight the Jin Kingdom and not negotiate peace."
"In fact, this is what the eldest sister meant. It's just that the King of Wei was pressured by the Queen Mother to get married this time, and he is a little tied up." Xie Ting said.
Xie Rongying's deep eyes moved slightly. In his previous life, it was the emperor who ordered Qin Junyi to go to war. It seemed that there was something else going on. It was definitely not just a war between two countries.
After a moment's silence, she said, "Ting'er, don't mention this to the King of Wei. Fourth Uncle, let's proceed as planned."
The only one who can go on this expedition is the Xie family!
