Short Day Three

Short Day Three

Huang Yaya and her friends didn't drive to her aunt's house, but to her uncle's house in the countryside. Cremation is mandatory in the city, and her aunt and uncle didn't want their child to be burned after death, so they returned to the countryside, where cremation isn't as strict.

This was Huang Yaya’s first time here, and she could hear heart-wrenching cries from afar.

"My son, why are you so depressed..."

"It's all Mom's fault. I shouldn't have scolded you..."

"My poor grandson, how could you bear to abandon us."

Huang Yaya's tears, which she had finally managed to hold back, began to flow uncontrollably again. When her aunt saw Huang's mother coming, she hugged her mother and cried, "Xiaomei, it's all my fault. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have scolded him..."

As she said this, Auntie hit her chest with her hands, and Mother Huang cried with her, trying to comfort her sister who was getting ten years older every day.

In her memory, her aunt always looked like a cheerful and kind person. Sometimes when she went to her aunt's house, she wished that her aunt was her mother. After all, Huang Yaya's mother always disliked her.

Her cousin Yi Yuzheng has such a good mother? Why can't she let it go?

The adults all hugged each other and cried. Huang Yaya and her younger brother Huang Zijian didn't know what to do in this strange place.

Huang Zijian pulled his sister and motioned her to go to the corner next to him.

She looked at her brother and saw that he seemed to have something to say, so she asked, "What's wrong?"

Huang Zijian wiped his nose with a piece of toilet paper and whispered, "This year, when Yu Zheng and I were playing games together, he asked me what to do about his classmates who kept hitting him on the head with books. I told him that his classmates were probably just joking with him! Sis, it's all my fault. Maybe he's been bullied and that's why he's so upset."

Huang Zijian and Yi Yuzheng are of similar age, so it is very common for them to play together.

Huang Yaya asked, "Did Yu Zheng say anything else to you?"

Huang Zijian scratched his head, was silent for a moment, and then said, "He invited me to his house during the summer vacation, saying that if I went, my aunt wouldn't scold him all the time."

She glanced at her aunt, who was nearly fainting from tears. No one is born seeking death. Her cousin's inner pain was probably only known to her. Sometimes, a small word could be a cry for help, but none of us knew if it was the final straw.

Huang Yaya sighed, patted Huang Zijian on the shoulder, and comforted him, "Don't blame yourself too much. If it was school bullying, I guess Auntie and the others would know the clues."

"Sister, should I tell my aunt about this?"

Huang Yaya was confused when she heard Huang Zijian's question. She didn't know whether she should say it or not. She glanced at her brother who was wiping his tears and asked, "Do you have any evidence?"

"I'll look for it." After saying that, Huang Zijian took out his mobile phone and started looking through the chat history.

"Sister, look at this." Huang Zijian handed the phone to Huang Yaya.

The chat log is as follows:

Yi: Brother, take me with you when you play games!

Huang: I want to play with my classmates. You can play with yours.

Yi: Okay.

—— —— ——

Huang: We're short of a treatment position, can you come?

Yi: Come come come

—— —— ——

Yi: Brother, your classmates are so awesome!

Huang: Isn’t that awesome? I’m also pretty awesome as your brother.

Yi: Brother, let me ask you something.

Huang: Say

Yi: My classmate always hits me on the head with books, what should I do?

Huang: Just fight back.

Yi: I dare not

Huang: Is this a joke?

Yi: Yeah, just joking with me [smile]

Yi: I really envy you for having so many friends to play games with.

—— —— ——

Yi: Brother, come to my house during summer vacation

Huang: It’s hot, I won’t come.

Yi: Come on, brother. I'll buy you some ice cream. If you come, my mother won't scold me all the time.

Huang: Auntie is quite gentle. Maybe you make her angry because you always play games.

Yi: That’s in front of other people. My mom is not gentle at all and she always quarrels with my dad.

Huang: It’s all the same. My mom always scolds me, my sister, and my dad.

Yi: Brother, come over and play.

Huang: Why don’t you come to my house?

Yi: Okay, I’ll go ask my mom.

—— —— ——

Yi: Brother, I’m sorry, I can’t come to your house. My mom won’t let me come. She said she doesn’t have time to send me off. I said I can come alone, but she still won’t let me.

Huang: There’s nothing we can do.

—— —— ——

Yi: Let’s play games together.

Huang: It’s full.

—— —— ——

Yi: Brother, school is about to start

Huang: Yes

Yi: Do you like going to school?

Huang: I don’t like it

Yi: I don’t like it either, but I don’t like staying at home either.

—— —— ——

Yi: Brother, do you want to play games together?

Huang: It’s full.

Huang Yaya didn't know what to say when she saw these chat records. Each one was a very ordinary conversation, but looking back at the ending, she found that each one was a gentle person seeking salvation from the outside world.

"Let's talk about it in a few days. Let's not cause them any more trouble."

"Well, sister, if I go to see him during the summer vacation, things won't be like this."

"I don't know. But you have to imagine."

That night, Huang Yaya and her mother shared a bed. Her mother, quite unusually, hugged her, giving her goose bumps. Her mother had never hugged her in her memory, at least not since third grade. This was the first time in over a decade.

"Yaya, Mom usually scolds you for your own good. Don't be like your cousin and think it's a pity. If you are unhappy, just tell me. Mom will always be your good friend."

She felt a little embarrassed when she heard this. This was not like Huang's mother's style. The overly intimate mother-daughter atmosphere made her almost get goose bumps. She was still used to Huang's mother yelling at her with a clothes hanger.

"Your aunt has had a very hard life. Your cousin is her only child. She has a bad temper and likes to scold people, but Yi Yuzheng is too ignorant. What will your aunt do in the future?"

Huang Yaya didn't know how to tell her mother that children are not dough that can recover after being beaten.

This time, Huang Yaya dreamed of flower boats and waterside pavilions. She was in a small pavilion by the water, from which she could see many flower boats. On the flower boats, some were dancing, some were playing the pipa, some were reciting poems, and some were singing while drinking.

Under the waterside pavilion, people were releasing lanterns, vendors were hawking their wares, and the place was bustling with people coming and going.

Song Zhexi saw a familiar figure in the water pavilion from the boat. He immediately ordered people to moor the boat to the shore. After hurriedly getting off the boat, he came to the small pavilion where Huang Yaya was.

"What are you thinking about?"

Huang Yaya didn't turn around to see who was speaking when she heard the voice. She continued to lean on the railing and looked at the scenery in front of her. She replied weakly, "Why would someone give up their life?"

"A man cannot die without being heartbroken. Flowers wither and leaves fall because the roots wither. I guess the heart is broken."

"But it's so good to be alive. There is hope in life."

"Yes, hope is both beautiful and cruel."

"Why is it cruel?"

“When there is hope, there is expectation. If the expectation is not met, the hope is also shattered.”

"Well, To be or not to be this is a question. "

"What? What are you talking about?" Song Zhexi's voice was full of questions.

Huang Yaya turned her head and looked at Mr. Song with a wry smile: "It's nothing, thank you for your answer."

"You today..."

She opened her eyes and found herself alone in the bed. She glanced at her cell phone. It was not yet one in the morning. Huang's mother probably went out to help, so Huang Yaya continued to sleep with her eyes closed.
