Chapter 27 Published

Is your face scratched?

Ji Ruan broke free from Gu Xiuyi's arms and turned on the front camera of his mobile phone.

...His face is really ugly.

There were several patches of orange and red on her cheeks and chin, and her fingertips had pressed over her eyes, leaving a patch of black and gray paint on her eyelids.

Coupled with his face that turned red due to embarrassment, at this moment he is like a color palette, full of colorful purples and reds.

“Oh my god…”

Ji Ruan was so shocked by herself that she no longer cared about being shy and immediately went to the sink to clean up.

The sweet and soft boy in his arms slipped away, and Gu Xiuyi finally let out a breath, pinched his numb fingertips, and put them in his trouser pockets.

He glanced at the painting on the wall, trying to ease the embarrassment, and cleared his throat: "You painted the sun really well."

Yu Guangzhong's Ji Ruan's back froze for two seconds, and then he pretended nothing happened: "Thank you."

Gu Xiuyi really had nothing to say.

In fact, he is responsible for what happened just now. It is normal to make some noise during massage, whether it is because of comfort or pain.

Ji Ruan just did a very normal thing, but he was the one with the problem because he reacted so strongly to the sound.

Gu Xiuyi remained silent, trying to calm himself down, while there was no movement from Ji Ruan.

By the time Gu Xiuyi had completely calmed down, Ji Ruan was still hunched over the sink, with a thin stream of water flowing out of the faucet. It seemed that his waist was sore from bending over and he couldn't wash clean, so he straightened up from time to time and pounded his waist hard.

Gu Xiuyi frowned, went over to pull Ji Ruan up, and turned off the faucet.

The tap water in the pipes is always cold, and in winter it is icy. After washing for a while, Ji Ruan's hands and cheeks were frozen red, but at least the paint was almost washed off, except for the black on his eyelids.

Gu Xiuyi touched Ji Ruan's cheek with the back of his hand, which frightened him: "What's going on?"

Ji Ruan was also helpless.

The paints they use for painting are difficult to wash off. The ones on your hands can be washed off by rubbing them several times with soap. There are not many paints on your cheeks, but it will be barely effective if you grit your teeth and use soap.

But Ji Ruan really didn't dare to wash his eyes with soap, and the effect of just wiping them with water was minimal.

"I can't wash it off..." Ji Ruan sighed weakly.

"Don't touch the cold water yet," Gu Xiuyi took Ji Ruan to the rest area to sit down, and took out a few tissues for him: "Wipe it."

Ji Ruan folded the paper in half and wiped the water off his face bit by bit, but he still looked listless.

Gu Xiuyi swiped his phone up and down and asked, "It's said on the Internet that this can be removed with makeup remover?"

Ji Ruan raised his head and blinked: "Yes, it seems possible, but I don't have this thing now..."

Gu Xiuyi thought for a moment and asked, "Are you going to paint again later?"

Ji Ruan shook his head: "My part is almost done today, and the senior sisters will come to take over the rest in the evening."

Gu Xiuyi sat down next to Ji Ruan and continued to press his wet eyelashes with paper. He suggested, "Why don't you come home with me? Tomorrow is the weekend, I'll buy you a bottle of makeup remover on the way, and then you can go back and clean it up carefully?"

Ji Ruan's eyelashes were so wet that he couldn't see clearly. Gu Xiuyi's movements were very gentle. He subconsciously closed his eyes, relaxed a little, and thought slowly.

Gu Xiuyi was not in a hurry. He gently wiped his face and touched the corners of his eyes with his fingertips.

"That makes sense," Ji Ruan said after a while, "I'm going back to the dormitory now. Han Xiaolin and the others will definitely laugh at me. I might as well go with you. I also want to eat the fried prawns made by Aunt Zhao."

Gu Xiuyi's lips curled up with satisfaction: "Okay, I'll tell her."

He picked up Ji Ruan's down jacket and put it on him, then took Ji Ruan by the hand and walked out: "Go home."

·

Before dinner, the aroma of fried prawns filled the entire villa, and Xiao An was so attracted by the smell that he kept circling around Aunt Zhao.

Upstairs, Ji Ruan was wiping her eyes with makeup remover oil in the bathroom, swallowing her saliva as she did so.

Gu Xiuyi leaned against the door frame and laughed: "Look how greedy you are, why don't you go downstairs and eat first and then wipe it?"

"No, the longer it takes, the harder it will be to clean." Ji Ruan looked at the mirror intently and talked to Gu Xiuyi casually: "Will you come to school for the school celebration at the beginning of next month?"

Gu Xiuyi said calmly: "I received an invitation."

Ji Ruan waited silently for a while, but didn't hear anything else. He turned his head and said, "Then what? Are you not coming?"

Gu Xiuyi pursed his lips, did not respond directly, and asked: "Do you want me to come?"

"Hmm..." Ji Ruan actually thought about it seriously, and said slowly: "I still want you to come, and I want you to see the complete appearance of my painting."

When he said this, he tilted his head slightly and pushed the hair away from his eyes. His hair looked very soft.

Gu Xiuyi's fingertips suddenly began to feel numb again, as if they were burned by the warmth growing in his heart.

"Okay," Gu Xiuyi's throat was a little dry, and he covered his lips and coughed, "I will be there on time."

Ji Ruan didn't notice Gu Xiuyi's subtle emotional changes. She focused all her attention on the paint on her eyelids, slowly wiping it off bit by bit.

Gu Xiuyi folded his arms and looked at him for a while, and finally couldn't help but stepped forward to grab the cotton pad, pinched Ji Ruan's chin, and cleaned the paint on his eyelids with quick and decisive movements.

Ji Ruan was very thin, with a small and pointed chin. After Gu Xiuyi wiped him clean, he was actually a little reluctant when he took his hand back.

"Okay," Gu Xiuyi closed his five fingers, as if he wanted to subconsciously retain the remaining warmth of his fingertips, "Let's eat."

Ji Ruan washed her face and casually applied some moisturizer before going downstairs with Gu Xiuyi.

A plate of fragrant fried shrimps was already placed on the table. Aunt Zhao also made a few other home-cooked dishes and a seaweed egg drop soup.

Ji Ruan picked up a shrimp and just as he twisted off the shrimp head, bright red oil flowed down his fingertips, with an overwhelming aroma.

In order to take care of Ji Ruan's stomach, the fried prawns made by Aunt Zhao are not too spicy, focusing on fragrance and freshness. For this dish, Ji Ruan is willing to eat three more bowls of rice.

But it's just a thought. His stomach won't be able to take it if he eats too much.

Gu Xiuyi sat opposite him, eating his food slowly. He saw that Ji Ruan's fingertips were soon stained with red oil and her lips became bright red.

Although he eats in a gentle manner, his good-looking appearance and good appetite make people who see him also have an extra appetite.

Gu Xiuyi had been paying attention to Ji Ruan's condition. Seeing that the red oil was about to flow down Ji Ruan's fingers to his wrists, he took out a piece of paper to wipe it off for him:

"Go slowly and be careful when peeling the shrimp."

Ji Ruan paused, did not refute, and his movements did slow down.

Once he was eating fried shrimps and he was so excited that he peeled the shrimps too hard and cut his finger on the shrimp shell. The cut was small but the spicy red oil made it very painful. After washing it, the blood kept flowing out for a long time before it stopped.

The next second, a piece of perfect shrimp with the head and tail removed suddenly appeared on his small plate.

Ji Ruan looked up and saw Gu Xiuyi peeling shrimps with gloves on. His movements looked casual, but they were fast and skillful. In just a few seconds, the beautiful big shrimps were back on his plate.

Ji Ruan: “?”

Gu Xiuyi didn't even raise his eyes, his expression calm: "Go wash your hands."

Ji Ruan almost doubted his ears: "You... want to help me peel it?"

Gu Xiuyi still had no expression, as if he was doing something very normal: "What else? What if you cut it again? Don't you still have to paint?"

Ji Ruan's heart felt like it was hit with a "click".

When he came back from washing his hands, his small plate was already filled with bright red and shiny big shrimps. He felt happy just by looking at them.

"Thank you..."

Gu Xiuyi took off his gloves and smiled: "You can only eat this much, otherwise your stomach will feel uncomfortable again."

"Yeah!" Ji Ruan's eyes sparkled, and the curve of her eyes was particularly beautiful: "That's enough, thank you!"

He was never reluctant to express his emotions. When he was happy, his dimples could not be suppressed. Two round dimples hung on his cheeks, like they were mixed with honey. Their depth would increase or decrease as he chewed, and the sugar inside seemed to be about to overflow.

Gu Xiuyi went to wash his hands, then came back and supported his forehead with his hand, quietly watching Ji Ruan eat.

Ji Ruan's eyelids were a little swollen, probably because of the friction when washing the paint. Her entire eye sockets were red. She sniffed and scooped the shrimp meat and rice together to eat. She looked like she was crying because of the fragrance, and she even licked her lips subconsciously.

That lip bead is red and really beautiful.

·

On the day of the school anniversary, Gu Xiuyi arrived as scheduled, but Ji Ruan was late.

As a special guest, Gu Xiuyi entered the exhibition hall under the guidance of volunteers. The first thing he saw was a long and wide corridor.

The interior is brightly lit. On the left is a timeline of major events in the 100 years since the founding of Kyoto University, and on the right is a long painting, with each picture corresponding to the timeline on the left.

The ten-meter-long scroll is spread out straightly like ink splashing, and it is as vast and powerful as a latent dragon entering the abyss.

Each historical stage in the painting is viewed from the perspective of the students at that time, looking at their alma mater.

In their eyes, Kyoto University was initially a sacred temple on the road to study, but later it became a battlefield under the pen tip; going further ahead, it was a mountain that they had to climb hard at dawn... and finally it turned into the rising sun hanging high in the sky on the top of the bell tower, and the future was boundless.

“What a beautiful painting…”

“It’s like watching a documentary…”

"It's so amazing when you look at the timeline. It makes my scalp tingle when I draw the pen into a gun..."

"Li Ming Gao Shan is also very... My grandmother still regrets that she missed the college entrance examination that year..."

"The last sun is so beautiful... What should I do? I'm a little proud that I was admitted to our school..."

The students around him were talking incessantly as Gu Xiuyi walked slowly through the crowd, his blood boiling because of the heart-wrenching scenes described by Ji Ruan.

The centenary celebration of Peking University attracted much public attention. Many news media came, and reporters were reporting with cameras, with countless flashes going off one after another.

"Kyoto University is indeed full of talented people..."

"I heard that the students who paint are not professional painters, they are all amateurs..."

"The main thing is that the spirit and energy in this painting is indeed the spirit of a famous school..."

This corridor was not originally the focus of the exhibition, but served as a bridge to attract people to the exhibition hall to appreciate other works.

But what is interesting is that the corridor became the liveliest place. Students, professors, guests and media all stayed here without any prior agreement, and the interior of the exhibition hall seemed a little deserted for a while.

Gu Xiuyi walked slowly, concentrating on appreciating the school history painting, and he still felt unsatisfied even after the painting was finished.

The names of the main authors were written at the end of the scroll. Gu Xiuyi stared at the two words "Ji Ruan" and looked at them silently for a long time.

A volunteer came forward and asked, "Sir, do you want me to introduce you to the editors of the school history map?"

Gu Xiuyi came back to his senses, looked at the volunteer and smiled, with a hint of restrained pride in his words:

"No, I know him."

We had agreed to meet at the exhibition hall at eight in the morning, but it was already thirty minutes late and the editor-in-chief that everyone had been talking about had not yet shown up.

Gu Xiuyi called Ji Ruan, but no one answered the phone until the phone rang.

He turned around and walked out, continuing to dial. After a long wait, he finally heard Ji Ruan's voice: "Hmm?"

Gu Xiuyi paused in a daze, then smiled and sighed, "Did you really sleep?"

There was silence on the other side for two seconds, and then suddenly there was chaos.

Gu Xiuyi had to stop him loudly: "Stop, stop Ji Ruan... Don't worry, pack slowly, I'll wait for you downstairs in the dormitory."

The exhibition hall was not far from the boys' dormitory. Gu Xiuyi had just walked downstairs when he ran into Ji Ruan who was jogging out.

His hair was a little messy, and he hadn't had time to put on his scarf, which he held loosely in his hand. Although Gu Xiuyi told him not to rush, the child had obviously just tidied himself up and ran out, with the redness from sleep on his face still not gone away.

Gu Xiuyi smiled and rubbed his cheek, which was warm and tender: "Why did you oversleep?"

Ji Ruan took a breath and put on the scarf: "I was watching them hang paintings in the exhibition hall last night, and then I was waiting for the lights to be adjusted. It took too long and I went back late. I didn't wake up in the morning."

Ji Ruan actually felt a little sleepy now. It was as if his brain was still in standby mode. His mind was a little fuzzy, and even his hands and feet had no strength.

There were dark circles under his eyes, and it looked like he was really tired recently. Gu Xiuyi combed his hair and took him to the cafeteria: "If I had known, I wouldn't have called you and let you sleep a little longer."

"It's okay," Ji Ruan shook his head: "I'm hungry too."

After entering the cafeteria, Ji Ruan bought a few dumplings and a cup of soy milk. Gu Xiuyi sat opposite him waiting for him to eat.

"Did you see the painting?" Ji Ruan asked after taking a sip of soy milk.

"Well," Gu Xiuyi laughed, "It's more shocking than I imagined."

Ji Ruan was like a child being praised, with red cheeks and a smile: "Actually, I am also very satisfied. How about it, am I an excellent junior?"

"Of course," Gu Xiuyi smiled warmly and followed his words, "Senior, I am very proud."

He has always known that Ji Ruan is an excellent person. In fact, this "excellence" was one of the criteria that Gu Xiuyi used to choose Ji Ruan as a marriage partner. But now his mood has changed.

Ji Ruan now is so outstanding that anyone can feel moved just by thinking about her.

Ji Ruan was amused by his word "senior". He covered his face and lowered his head to eat the bun quietly.

After breakfast, the campus suddenly saw more and more people walking on it. The various activities for the school anniversary were carried out one after another, and the atmosphere became much more lively.

"Do you want to go to the exhibition hall to see the paintings again?" Gu Xiuyi asked.

Ji Ruan thought for a moment and said, "Forget it. I've already seen the final display last night. Let's go to the auditorium. Isn't there a performance there?"

He shrank his neck: "I'm a little cold."

"good."

The auditorium was continuously showing performances from various clubs. When they arrived, it was the turn of the street dance club, and the music was blasting and the cheers were deafening.

Ji Ruan and Gu Xiuyi sat down in the corner of the last row. The heating in the room was turned on high, so Ji Ruan took off her scarf.

But he seemed to be not used to the overly loud music and got a headache after sitting for a while.

Fortunately, each club only performed one show. When Ji Ruan and his friends arrived, the street dance club was almost coming to an end and soon switched to soft guitar singing.

Ji Ruan loosened his clenched hands and breathed a sigh of relief.

In the middle of the meeting, Gu Xiuyi went out to answer a phone call, so Ji Ruan sat inside alone and chatted with Han Xiaolin for a while.

But I don’t know if it’s because the auditorium is too stuffy, or because the aftereffects of the singing and dancing just now have not worn off, Ji Ruan’s solar plexus is always twitching in pain.

Messages from Han Xiaolin kept popping up on the phone screen. He was having a great time outside, but Ji Ruan felt dizzy and his heart was churning as he stared at the rapidly scrolling screen. He almost vomited.

He quickly turned off his phone, bent over, put his hands on his stomach and gritted his teeth to get through the moment.

After my vision gradually became clear, cold sweat broke out on my back and I felt so dizzy that my eye sockets were sore.

Ji Ruan touched his face and it seemed a little hot...

He closed his eyes in despair, having a bad feeling.

When Gu Xiuyi came back, he saw Ji Ruan leaning against the back of the chair, looking not very well.

The light in the auditorium was dim, and he had to get closer to see Ji Ruan's face. Her cheeks were flushed, there was a small red spot around her eyes, and her lips were a little chapped.

"What's wrong?" Gu Xiuyi asked in a low voice, "Where do you feel uncomfortable?"

Ji Ruan slowly opened his eyes, put his hands on his stomach, and looked a little dazed: "I seem to have a fever again..."

Gu Xiuyi's heart tightened, and he immediately used the back of his hand to feel Ji Ruan's forehead temperature, which was a little hot.

He gently put his arm around Ji Ruan's shoulders and placed his fingertips on the skin behind his left ear: "How do you feel now? Does it hurt here?"

Ji Ruan shook his head and said weakly: "I feel dizzy and feel like vomiting."
