Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Gu Zhinian called Shi Wan on time; "Come to the door."

"Huh?" Shi Wan heard this and looked at the phone interface again. It was Gu Zhinian calling. He explained dryly, "I'm at work now, not at Pei's house."

"Yeah, I know. I'm at the door of your store." Gu Zhinian's voice was filled with a hint of laughter. Shi Wan couldn't help rubbing his itchy ears.

"Okay." Shi Wan hung up the phone obediently, said something to the store manager and went out. It was Shi Wan's turn to have lunch and take a break. Besides, this store had a close relationship with Gu Zhinian. Gu Zhinian specially asked someone to take care of Shi Wan, and the store manager was also very good to Shi Wan.

"Mr. Shi, the gentleman is waiting for you in the car." Zhou Cheng came forward when Shi Wan was looking for someone.

"Oh." Shi Wan nodded and followed Zhou Cheng. Gu Zhinian's car was parked not far away. Gu Zhinian was an actor. If he was not afraid of causing chaos, Gu Zhinian would have wanted to pick up Shi Wan himself. Zhou Cheng opened the car door for Shi Wan. After hesitating for a moment, Shi Wan pursed his lips into a straight line and got into the car.

After getting into the car, Shi Wan breathed a sigh of relief. There was no unpleasant smell as he had imagined. Instead, the car was filled with the refreshing scent of soapberries.

"Mr. Gu." Shi Wan called out awkwardly. "What can I do for you?"

"I want to have lunch with you." Knowing Shi Wan's obsession with looks, Gu Zhinian raised what he thought was the most perfect smile and said slowly.

"But I'm carsick." Shi Wan explained dryly. Feeling the vibration of the car engine, Shi Wan felt that if he had this meal in the car, his afternoon would be miserable.

Gu Zhinian's body froze, and even his glasses slipped down a little. He had not expected this.

The atmosphere in the car became oppressive. The bodyguards in front of the tailgate reduced their presence, wishing they could turn into a speck of dust. They knew so much and wondered if they would be fired if they walked through the door with their left foot tomorrow.

Shi Wan was not good at dealing with this kind of thing. He lowered his head and looked at his palms, counting the lines on the palms. How to say it, the more he counted, the more excited he became. After being immersed in his own world, he forgot about the surrounding environment and also put Gu Zhinian behind his mind.

Looking at Shi Wan who was immersed in her own world, shaking her head, and her soft hair swaying with it, Gu Zhinian felt itchy and reached out to rub Shi Wan's hair.

The feeling was just as he imagined, incredibly soft, as if his hand was immersed in clouds. He didn't withdraw his hand until Shi Wan looked at him straight.

"Ahem, this is the packed lunch for you. You can eat it in the store. I won't go, so as not to cause you trouble." Gu Zhinian calmly handed the packed meal to Shi Wan with a serious face, as if the person who just reached out to rub his hair was not Gu Zhinian himself.

"Oh." Shi Wan nodded calmly, "Then I'll go back first." He took his things and left. He originally wanted to show concern for Gu Zhinian, but thinking of his messy hair, he didn't want to care anymore.

Gu Zhinian was sitting in the car and only let the bodyguard drive away after seeing Shi Wan enter the store. Shi Wan saw Gu Zhinian's car leaving the store and saw his hair like a bird's nest on the glass. Shi Wan secretly glared at the back of Gu Zhinian's car.

However, Shi Wan was afraid of being discovered, so he quickly withdrew his gaze and pretended nothing had happened.

"Xiao Wan, aren't you going to eat? Your hair... did someone bully you?" The store manager was a woman in her forties. She usually treated Shi Wan as her own child. When she saw Shi Wan's appearance, she became nervous and angrily wanted to go out to seek justice for Shi Wan.

"No, Aunt Luo."

"Really?" Aunt Luo pulled Shi Wan over and carefully examined her from head to toe. She felt relieved when she found that there were no traces of anything except her messy hair. "Let's go inside and eat."

"Yeah." Shi Wan nodded obediently and took the lunch box into the rest room. The first thing he did when he entered was to tidy up his hair. Shi Wan still cared about his image. It's not that he had to dress well, but he had to dress neatly when he went out.

Shi Wan was stunned when he opened the lunch box. The food inside was what he liked, and it was relatively light. There were no onions in the soup. He had a bad stomach, all because of the couple who stole him. Before he was six years old, he was hungry, sometimes not eating, and sometimes not eating for two or three days. That's how his stomach was ruined.

When in the orphanage, it was difficult to satisfy everyone, so Shi Wan could only be careful and pick out what he could eat. After returning to the Pei family, it was even worse. The Pei family all had heavy tastes. Because the Pei family didn't pay attention to Shi Wan, Aunt Zhang didn't care about Shi Wan's taste at all, let alone make light dishes for Shi Wan. Shi Wan often cooked noodles for himself, and was scolded by the Pei family at the dinner table for being pretentious and unruly.

At the beginning, Shi Wan would try to defend himself, but the responses he got were that there was nothing he couldn't eat, he was being pretentious, and that there should be limits to vying for favor. Later, after Shi Wan saw through the true nature of the Pei family, he never said anything again. Instead of trying to please the Pei family, Shi Wan cared more about his own health.

It was rare for someone to notice this. Perhaps it was unintentional, or perhaps Gu Zhinian himself had a light taste. Shi Wan was happy for a moment.

Shi Wan got off work at six o'clock. The sun was very bright at six o'clock, and walking out of the store felt like being in a furnace. Shi Wan held an umbrella and walked slowly to the fast food restaurant he usually went to. When he returned to the Pei family, it was almost nine o'clock. Usually at this time, the Pei family members had returned to their rooms, but today they were surprisingly all waiting for Shi Wan in the living room.

On the coffee table in front of the living room was Yunhai's food box from Shiwan's room. Pei Shijin lay in Ruan Leyi's arms and sobbed softly. Ruan Leyi gently comforted Pei Shijin. Pei Hongyuan and Pei Shichen had the same cold faces. Pei Shiyu looked angry. Aunt Zhang stood not far away, gloating.

You little bastard, let’s see what you’re going to do today.

When Shi Wan walked in, he saw someone in the living room and went straight upstairs to his room without even saying hello. Ruan Leyi was originally waiting for Shi Wan to come over and call her to please her, and she was still thinking about putting on some gesture, but Shi Wan didn't even think about coming over to them.

"Shi Wan, stop right there. Can't you see we are all here? Where are your manners? Don't you even know how to call out to people?" Ruan Leyi exploded. Her sharp voice almost broke the eardrums of Pei Shijin in her arms. She didn't consider at all that Pei Shijin was still lying in her arms.

Pei Shijin's face was pale, his hands were clenched into fists, and the veins on the back of his hands were bulging. One could imagine how hard he was trying to endure.
