(A military hospital in China)
On the morning of July 1, 2112 (the eighth day of the sixth lunar month, the day Hua Qingcheng ascended the throne), in a high-end ward of a military hospital in China, a group of medical staff were surrounding a bed.
The hospital corridor was filled with the smell of disinfectant. The walls were as white as snow, and the floor was so clean it reflected light. At the end of the long corridor, there was a special ward. The door of the ward was half-open, revealing a sense of tranquility.
Walking into this ward, I was struck by the extraordinary silence, as if time had stood still. The room was spacious and bright, neatly and comfortably furnished, and every detail demonstrated the care and concern for the patients.
A ray of sunlight filtered through the huge window panes, casting patches of bright light onto the ground. The sky outside the window was a clear blue, with white clouds floating leisurely.
Lying on the hospital bed was a young woman with a beautiful face, delicate features, and fair skin, like a sleeping fairy. However, upon closer inspection, one could see that her eyes were tightly closed and her lips were slightly pursed, as if she were enduring some kind of pain.
The patient in the bed was hooked up to a variety of monitoring devices, which emitted a gentle humming sound, and the screens flashed with signs of life. The electrocardiogram showed a regular beat, and the blood pressure readings were stable and within the normal range.
At the bedside, the medical staff looked focused and attentive. Some were checking the patient's condition, some were adjusting equipment parameters, and still others were observing the patient's reactions. Their movements were skillful and gentle, revealing their deep concern for the sleeping patient.
The doctors, dressed in white coats, walked with steady, powerful steps. They carefully reviewed the information on the medical records in their hands, then gently lifted the patient's wrist to check the pulse.
Nurses busily shuttled around, recording patients' data quickly and accurately. Their faces were filled with warm smiles, and they often used gentle words to encourage patients to persevere.
The entire ward is filled with a tense yet orderly atmosphere. Everyone performs their duties and works hard for the health of the patients.
"How is she?" Suddenly, a steady and powerful voice came.
Immediately afterwards, a tall man in a neat military uniform walked in. He had a stern expression, with a barely perceptible hint of fatigue between his heroic brows. His deep eyes stared intently at the woman on the hospital bed, with a look of regret on his face.
The doctor quickly saluted the visitor with a standard military salute, then replied respectfully, "Commander Jiang, 8808 is still the same. All vital signs are normal, but there is no sign of waking up."
Jiang Yunting heard this, and a trace of disappointment flashed across his bright eyes. Jiang Yunting had been hearing this for over a year, but he still refused to give up, because as long as the person was alive, he was looking forward to the day when a miracle would happen.
"8808, you have completed the mission, so come back to the team soon! You have been late for one year and 22 days. When you wake up, I will punish you twice as much!" Jiang Yunting walked to the bedside, stared at the unconscious woman with affectionate and firm eyes, and said softly.
A year ago, Hua Qingcheng was on a mission when she accidentally fell from a plane into the sea at the critical moment of subduing the criminals. When she was finally salvaged, she had fallen into a deep coma and has not woken up to this day.
Although the military has tried its best and arranged the best medical teams and experts to treat her, she has been in a coma for more than a year, as if she had entered a long sleep.
However, because Jiang Yunting believed that Hua Qingcheng would wake up one day, the medical staff massaged her and activated her muscles every day to prevent her arms and legs from atrophying.
Therefore, even though more than a year has passed, Hua Qingcheng's body still looks beautiful, as if she was just sleeping.
After visiting Hua Qingcheng, Jiang Yunting left the ward with a little loss as usual.
When Jiang Yunting left the bed, the woman's fingers suddenly moved slightly, as if she was searching for something. This subtle movement did not go unnoticed, and the medical staff were very excited. They stared at the woman's hand closely, expecting more reactions.
The woman's fingers began to grope slowly, as if trying to sense her surroundings. Her fingertips lightly brushed the bed sheet, then slowly lifted up, as if trying to grasp something. The medical staff held their breath, afraid to interrupt this precious moment.
As time went on, the woman's movements became more frequent, her fingers bending and stretching from time to time, as if trying to convey some kind of message. The medical staff gathered around her, their eyes full of joy and hope.
Finally, the woman's eyes slowly opened. She looked at everything around her in confusion, her bright eyes filled with bewilderment and strangeness.
Hua Qingcheng's eyes were blurred. She looked at the group of people or ghosts in white clothes with their mouths and noses covered who were surrounding her with confusion.
"Who... are you? Why are you surrounding me?" Hua Qingcheng asked with difficulty, covering her aching head.
Doctor Hao Lianchi was so excited when he saw Hua Qingcheng wake up that he pulled down his mask and pointed at his face and said, "8808, I'm Doctor Hao. Do you remember me?"
