Chapter 11 Staying at a Farmhouse

"You little brat, how can you talk nonsense!"

Xingyue patted Di Er Luo's head with a mixture of anger and amusement, and said, "Sister has something important to attend to, so let's hurry up and get on with our journey."

So, Diluo drove the mule cart and the two continued their journey. However, along the way, Xingyue was always worried about the mysterious treasure that the demons had snatched from somewhere.

Seeing Xingyue beside him looking thoughtful, Di Er Luo curled his lips and said with a forced smile, "Sister, you couldn't have fallen in love at first sight with that elf prince Sikong Lian, could you? That's right, he has a face as beautiful as jade, skin as white as cream, exudes a charming fragrance, and is full of spiritual energy. He is as elegant and graceful as a banished immortal. It's normal for you to like him."

"Don't talk nonsense." Xingyue glanced at the Second Luo leisurely and explained, "I was just thinking about what was so special about that treasure."

She wondered in her heart what was so magical about this treasure and why the demons would be so unscrupulous in wanting to take it for themselves.

"But the prince of the elves is indeed extremely handsome." The second Luo drove the mule cart while laughing maliciously and secretly glanced at Xingyue from time to time.

Xingyue shook her head helplessly. This guy just liked to make fun of her.

The two chatted and laughed all the way, and before they knew it, the sun set and night fell.

"There is a village ahead, sister. It's not safe to travel at night, so let's rest there tonight." The second Luo said, pointing ahead.

Xingyue nodded, and the two drove towards the village.

After entering the village, they found a farmer's house to stay overnight.

The bright moonlight illuminated a simple courtyard with mottled earthen walls and a thatched roof.

As the door knocked, an old man came out. He was dressed simply, had a kind face, and looked to be in his sixties or seventies.

"Miss, young man, who are you looking for?" The old man opened the wooden door and looked at the man and woman who suddenly appeared at his door in confusion.

The second Luo blurted out: "Old man, Luo Luo and sister will stay at your house tonight."

"Ah?!" The old man was bewildered when he heard this.

Seeing this, Xingyue hurriedly asked politely, "Old man, we are passing by here, but unfortunately it is getting dark. Could we stay at your house for one night?"

"So...so that's how it is. Please come in, both of you!" As the old man spoke, he had already brought Xingyue and Di Erluo into the yard.

The old man had lived in the village for most of his life, but he had never seen such good-looking young men and women. As he led the two to the main hall, he couldn't help but exclaimed, "Oh, girl, your brother is so handsome. Of course, you are also very beautiful. It's just that you two look a little different..."

Xingyue smiled slightly and didn't say much.

Second Luo immediately retorted unconvincedly: "Old man, Luo Luo is not my brother. He is my..." He glanced at Xingyue, then gently twisted the hair that fell on his shoulders and said proudly: "Luo Luo is my fiancé."

"Ah?!" The old man rubbed his blurry eyes and looked at the engaged couple in front of him who called each other brother and sister with an expression of disbelief.

Upon hearing this, Xingyue held her forehead helplessly.

However, Xingyue, who already knew that Second Luo was a bit outspoken, didn't bother to explain. After all, she would be leaving here tomorrow morning, so let others think whatever they wanted.

After entering the main hall, the old man lit the kerosene lamp that he only used during festivals. In the dim light, he looked at the beautiful woman and handsome man in front of him and asked curiously, "Where are you two from? You must be hungry after all this travel. If you don't mind, come and have dinner with me, an old man."

Although Xingyue wasn't hungry and didn't need to sleep, she could only follow mortal customs to accommodate Second Luo. She politely replied, "Old man, we came from Liuyun City and drove a mule cart all afternoon to arrive here. Thank you for your hospitality."

"Liuyun City? Are you kidding me, young lady?" Hearing Xingyue's words, the old man couldn't help but exclaimed, "Liuyun City? That's a thousand miles away! I heard it takes several days to get there by horse carriage. You drove a mule cart and arrived in just half a day?"

It turned out that in order to speed up the process of reaching the demon clan, Xingyue secretly used the "Shrinking the Earth into an Inch" spell while the Second Luo was driving the mule cart. Second Luo, who had long known Xingyue's identity, was just pretending to be confused and did not point it out.

"What's so strange about this? There are so many talented people in the world." The second Luo said hurriedly.

The old man nodded. He sighed slightly, then said, "You two have a point. You must be people with great supernatural powers. I heard that the Human Emperor has issued a recruitment order throughout the four seas, recruiting talented people."

"Is there such a thing?" Xingyue became interested immediately after hearing this.

"Of course not!" the old man said mysteriously, "This recruitment order has now been issued to the head of each village, and they've been notified door to door, just to find talented people."

Although Xingyue had some suspicions about the Emperor's actions, she still couldn't help but ask, "Old Man, you are the Emperor who gave this order, why?"

Hearing this, the old man's already weathered face became even more haggard and desolate. He said solemnly, "Why else? Of course, to gather talented individuals to fight the demon tribe together! These demons are becoming increasingly rampant, burning, killing, looting, and committing all sorts of evil. They're trying to drive us ordinary people to death!"

The old man became more and more excited as he spoke, and couldn't help but began to wipe away his tears.

"Old man, then...where are your family members?" Xingyue glanced at the empty courtyard and had an inexplicable bad feeling in her heart.

As expected, the old man, who had originally been weeping out of sadness, could not help but burst into tears. He said sadly, "My wife, son, daughter-in-law, and grandson were all killed by the demon tribe!"

"This demon race is completely devoid of conscience!" Xingyue said indignantly. At the same time, she became even more determined to destroy the demon race.

"You two wait here for a moment. I'll bring dinner over." After saying this, the old man turned and left.

After a moment.

At the dinner table, Luo Luo looked at the clear rice soup on the table, so clear that you could see the bottom of the bowl, and the so-called "dish" mixed with branches and leaves. He couldn't help but frown and said unhappily, "Old man, why are you using wild vegetables to entertain guests? From what Luo Luo saw, the hen in your yard is quite good. Why not stew it and give it to my sister to nourish her body? Here is one tael of silver, enough to buy more than ten hens."

As the second Luo said this, he took out a tael of silver from his pocket and put it on the table.

"Ah?! This..." The old man looked embarrassed.

"What? You think it's not enough?" The second Luo suddenly approached the old man, with a fierce look on his face, and said coldly.
