Chapter 117: Conquering the Wise King

"Surround...surround?" Nalan Junxue, who was sleeping, felt as if struck by a thunderbolt. Her body trembled violently and she rolled off the bed.

"Just explain yourself clearly!" Nalan Junxue jumped up from the ground. Her originally hazy eyes widened instantly, and the sleepiness disappeared without a trace.

"Reply... Reporting to the Virtuous King, it's General Feng Cailan who's personally leading the encirclement and suppression. According to the sentries, the enemy has 50,000 to 60,000 soldiers." The deputy general's voice was filled with anxiety and panic. "Venerable King, you must quickly think of a countermeasure! We have over 25,000 private soldiers scattered here. If we are caught by General Feng, the consequences will be unimaginable!"

Nalan Junxue's face suddenly turned pale as paper, beads of sweat appeared on her forehead. She clenched her fists tightly, her nails digging deep into her palms. Fear, despair, anger... all kinds of complicated emotions intertwined in her heart.

"How could this happen..." Nalan Junxue murmured to herself. She tried to calm herself down and think of a way to deal with it.

Suddenly, Nalan Junxue thought of a solution. "Send someone to fetch reinforcements immediately!" she shouted to the deputy general.

"But, King Xian, our nearest military camp is hundreds of miles away from here, and we are already too late!" said the deputy general anxiously.

"Then we can only fight to the death!" Nalan Junxue's eyes turned cold and said, "Notify all sisters and prepare for battle!"

Nalan Junxue decided to lead her men in a life-or-death battle against General Feng's army. Nalan Junxue knew it would be a difficult battle, but she had no choice. Only by fighting to the death could she hope for a chance of survival.

The two armies engaged in a fierce battle in the darkness, swords flashing and shadows clashing, shouts of killing echoing through the night sky. The bloody smell filled the air, making people sick.

The Feng Clan's army was already valiant and adept at fighting, like a tiger descending from the mountains, unstoppable. Furthermore, Feng Cailan had always been generous with his soldiers, spending lavishly on equipment. Their equipment was so sophisticated that they could be described as armed to the teeth. Furthermore, the Feng Clan's army held an absolute advantage in numbers, overwhelming the enemy with the force of a mountain crushing an egg.

During the battle, the Feng family army killed the enemy as easily as cutting melons and vegetables, unstoppable and invincible. For a time, the battlefield was filled with the sound of killing, the roars of the soldiers and the screams of the private soldiers rose and fell, resounding through the sky and echoing on this tragic battlefield.

"You daring traitors! Lay down your weapons and surrender!" To minimize unnecessary casualties, Feng Cailan shouted, her voice resounding like a bell, echoing throughout the battlefield. She was now clad in armor, wielding a spear. Her presence was heroic and majestic, like a descending god of war. Her words were imposing and terrifying.

Nalan Junxue's private soldiers, already irregular troops, had shown signs of weakness before the battle. Now, under the Feng family army's overwhelming attack, they were even more defeated. Their morale was low, and they were increasingly unable to fight.

Finally, with the first private soldier surrendering, the remaining 20,000 or so soldiers threw down their armor and weapons like a tide and surrendered. Feng Cailan's army pursued them and easily captured them all.

This was the first time that Hua Qingcheng experienced the bloodiness and cruelty of ancient wars so deeply. However, in order to protect her beloved and the people of this land, this was a reality she could not avoid.

"Feng Cailan, why do you meddle in other people's business?" Nalan Junxue watched helplessly as his only 20,000 private soldiers were defeated without a fight, and he couldn't help but grit his teeth in anger.

She commanded a hundred thousand private soldiers, scattered across four different locations. Now, with the revelation of the private soldier training camp in the desolate mountains west of the city, the other three would surely be uncovered soon. Worse still, Feng Cailan already knew that all the private soldiers were hers, and that was the most devastating thing.

"Wise King, as the eldest princess, instead of setting an example for the other princesses, you gathered private soldiers and attempted to rebel. This is simply disloyal, unfilial, unkind and unjust! Are you worthy of the high hopes the emperor has placed on you?" Feng Cailan rebuked in a voice as loud as a bell, with righteous words.

Feng Cailan's face darkened instantly when she thought of her brother Feng Lingyan, who had been repeatedly persecuted by Nalan Junxue's father, Ouyang Yuming. She wanted to seize this opportunity, with all the evidence, to prove Nalan Junxue's treason. Then, Ouyang Yuming would have no chance of escaping the charges.

When the Feng family soldiers heard this, their morale became even higher, while Nalan Junxue's private soldiers were all dejected like eggplants hit by frost and lost all their fighting spirit in an instant.

"Hmph! Originally, I was the only choice for the princess. It's all because of your niece who suddenly showed up and interfered! Otherwise, why would I have planned so painstakingly?" Nalan Junxue's eyes suddenly turned cold. He glanced angrily at Hua Qingcheng who was watching the battle silently on the side, his eyes full of unwillingness.

"Nalan Junxue, my status as a legitimate descendant is innate. It is not something I can choose, right? Besides, look at this training camp. Your private soldiers have been training here for at least several years. This is enough to show that your ambition has long been growing. What does such a situation have to do with me?" Hua Qingcheng raised her eyebrows slightly, and said in a tone that was so infuriating that she could not bear the consequences.

Upon hearing this, Nalan Junxue was furious. She glared at Hua Qingcheng fiercely, her eyes blazing with anger. She grasped her sword and slashed at Hua Qingcheng without hesitation. The force of her sword was as fierce as a tiger descending from the mountain, determined to kill.

"Your Highness, be careful!"

Feng Cailan couldn't help but exclaim in surprise. Her heartbeat instantly accelerated, and her face was filled with anxiety. She took a step forward to help. However, Hua Qingcheng raised her hand to stop her, her eyes firm and confident, as if telling Feng Cailan that she was capable of handling it all.
