"Li Ge, are you still reacting strongly now?"
"Much better, Dad. I don't feel like vomiting as much as before, and I can eat now."
The three of them were walking on the road, chatting as they walked.
It was already past the hour of Si and the sun was a bit scorching, but there were still many children in the fields on both sides, picking up rice ears, or driving chickens and ducks to the harvested rice fields, letting them catch insects or pick up grains to eat.
"It's like this with the first pregnancy, it will be more difficult, but it will be easier with the second and third pregnancies."
Ye Maochun sighed slightly and comforted Mu Lige.
"Dad, you've never given birth, how do you know?"
Upon hearing this, Ye Maochun's old face froze, and he raised his "fatherly palm" and patted Hua Qingcheng's arm where the bamboo basket was hanging.
"You evil girl! Your father never conceived and gave birth to me. Did you just pop out from a crack in the rock?"
"Dad~"
"Of course I'm talking about the second and third child, not me..."
Hua Qingcheng let go of Mu Lige's hand, rubbed the place on her arm where Ye Maochun had slapped her, and pouted at Mu Lige, pretending to be hurt.
"Li Ge, look!"
"You are his biological son, I was just picked up from the street!"
"Yes, you were put in a wooden basin by someone and left it outside our house in the middle of winter. I picked you up. I should have let you freeze to death outside!"
Ye Maochun pretended to be angry and gave Hua Qingcheng a slap on the face.
"Qingqing, stop talking nonsense! Look how much you look like Daddy!"
Mu Lige rubbed Hua Qingcheng's forehead, looked at his young wife's bright and clear eyes, and also looked at Ye Maochun's smiling phoenix eyes, and said seriously.
It's true, Mu Lige had long wondered why his young wife looked neither like her father nor her mother. The only person who resembled her was the little girl Si Chengfeng had brought with him. Hua Qingcheng probably looked like her grandparents, Mu Lige thought.
The two of them sent Hua's father home, said hello to Hua's mother who had just finished school, and prepared to leave. Before leaving the hospital, Hua Qingcheng took out a 100-liang silver note from her bosom and stuffed it directly into Ye Maochun's hand.
"Dad, keep this money. Buy some good cloth for you and mom, and make a few more clothes. Just buy whatever you want to eat. Don't save."
Looking at Ye Maochun's dark blue robe that was washed to a pale color, and the fact that he had no other ornaments except a wooden hairpin on his head, Hua Qingcheng was slightly moved.
Whatever good things the original owner's father had, he gave them all to her and her husbands, but he himself was reluctant to spend them on food, clothing, and daily necessities.
"Take it back! Take it back!"
Ye Maochun directly put the banknote back into Hua Qingcheng's hand.
"Dad has everything he needs. Qingcheng, you are the head of the family. You already have several husbands and children to raise. You will need money in many places. You can't be as extravagant as before."
Ye Maochun's eyes were red. He had never thought that he would be able to enjoy the blessing of a daughter one day. His daughter could earn money to support him and his wife. Moreover, each gift was one hundred taels, which was enough to support his family for eight to ten years in the countryside.
"Dad, this is given to you by my wife, so just take it!"
Mu Lige took the banknote from Hua Qingcheng and put it into Hua's father's hand.
"No! No! I told you I have money to spend."
Ye Maochun waved his hands repeatedly.
"Dad, keep it. It's better than her spending it on some random guy."
Mu Lige whispered the last sentence into Ye Maochun's ear.
Upon hearing this, Hua's father accepted the banknote and stuffed it into his arms.
"Okay, I'll save it for you first."
After leaving Hua Mu and Hua Fu's residence, Mu Lige took the cloth bag containing the steamed buns. Hua Qingcheng held the bamboo basket in one hand and held Mu Lige in the other.
"Brother Li, what were you whispering to Dad just now?"
When the two of them reached the big banyan tree at the entrance of the village, Hua Qingcheng stopped and looked at Mu Lige suspiciously. How could the old man's attitude change so immediately after he said just one sentence?
“Cough cough cough…”
"Nothing... nothing."
Mu Lige tilted his head to one side, but his blushing face and slightly red ears revealed his discomfort.
"real?"
"Mu Lige, I find that you are becoming more and more dishonest."
Hua Qingcheng held Mu Lige's hand tightly, and put the back of his hand to her lips and kissed it.
The sudden warm touch brought a smile to Mu Lige's face, and the corners of his lips curled up slightly. He pulled the person in his hand, brought her into his arms, and leaned over to kiss her.
"Mu Lige, you are sending a sheep into the tiger's mouth!"
(Mu Lige: It’s hard to say who is the sheep and who is the tiger right now…)
Seeing Mu Lige taking the initiative, Hua Qingcheng couldn't bear to disappoint him. She lightly stood on tiptoe, hooked one hand around Mu Lige's neck, and began to take the initiative, gently nibbling his lips.
This guy is going too far!
Knowing that she was pregnant, he still teased her, so she could only look but not eat. Hua Qingcheng then punished him by continuously plundering the air from Mu Lige's mouth until his cheeks flushed and she let him go.
“Cough cough cough…”
"Let's go, aren't we going to Uncle Mute's place?"
Mu Lige covered his lips with his fist and cleared his throat.
Looking at Mu Lige's slightly embarrassed look, Hua Qingcheng curled the corners of her lips slightly.
The two then walked towards the land temple.
"Uncle Mute!"
Hearing the sound, Kang Fulai staggered out of the temple, leaned against the door, and forced a vicissitudes of life smile towards the two people walking towards him.
"Uncle Ya, thank you for always helping out in the fields. Here are some meat buns and steamed buns fresh out of the pot. Eat them while they're hot."
