The second day of March in the fourth year of Baofeng was the day after Bai Ling and Hong Fu got married.
It was spring, and the morning sun was warm and pleasant. After bidding farewell to Bai Ling and Hong Fu, everyone boarded the carriage and slowly drove away from Bixiao Palace, heading along the official road towards the east gate of the city.
Bixiao Palace, located twenty miles east of the capital, was originally the temporary palace gifted to Feng Lingyan by Nalan Yunzhi. Ever since Feng Lingyan's fall from a cliff, the palace had been unused until it was relocated there by Hongfu's biological mother, Dahuang, by Hua Qingcheng, and it finally saw renewed life.
Now, with Feng Lingyan's permission, Hua Qingcheng decided to grant this palace to Xiaobai and Hongfu as their residence. After all, Xiaobai and Hongfu's true forms were tigers, and a residence in the suburbs with ample space was the perfect fit.
Of course, Xiaobai and Hongfu would still live in the palace on weekdays, but since they were newly married, Hua Qingcheng allowed them to stay in the Bixiao Palace for a while longer and there was no need to rush back to the palace.
After entering the city, Hua Qingcheng and Mu Lige did not return to the palace, but followed the Feng family to the General's Mansion with their adoptive mother and father's family.
In eight days, Hua Qingguo would be three years old. He was a chubby boy with a very cute appearance. Along the way, Hua Qingcheng held her brother tightly in her arms, teasing him from time to time, and the carriage was filled with laughter.
"Qingguo, do you like mother or father more?"
As Hua Qingcheng finished speaking, Hua Rongsheng and Ye Maochun both looked at their son nervously. Deep down, they naturally hoped to gain their child's favor.
Hua Qingguo, who was being held by Hua Qingcheng, knew that his sister did this on purpose, but he did not panic. Instead, he said innocently, "I like it just the same."
Hua Rongsheng and Ye Maochun's expressions immediately relaxed when they heard this, and they looked at Hua Qingcheng, the "bear daughter" who caused anxiety, with a reproachful look.
Mu Lige, who was sitting next to Hua Qingcheng, had a smile on his face that was as gentle as spring breeze. He touched Hua Qingguo's head and said gently, "Our little Qingguo is really smart and clever. She will definitely have a bright future."
Hua Qingguo, feeling the compliments, looked at Mu Lige's handsome face, a blush creeping up her cheeks. You know, while his body might be that of a three-year-old, his soul is that of an adult. He could easily handle such childish questions. Therefore, he still felt a little embarrassed by such praise.
Half an hour later, the carriage arrived at the General's Mansion in the east of the city.
After entering the General's Mansion, everyone came to the front yard hall.
Three-year-old Hua Qingguo was wearing a miniature version of the Imperial College student's uniform. The light blue robe was tailored to fit him perfectly, making him look particularly adorable. His eyes were serious and solemn, like a little adult who knew today was a special day.
Feng Lingyan sat at the head of the hall, looking at Hua Qingguo with a smile. His eyes were filled with love and expectation, as if he saw Hua Qingguo's future growth and achievements.
"Master, I, Hua Qingguo, am honored to be here!"
Although Hua Qingguo was young, he already displayed an extraordinary temperament. He walked up to Feng Lingyan, first bowed to her, then solemnly knelt down and kowtowed three times. Although his movements were a little childish, they were full of sincerity and respect.
Then, Hua Qingguo brought a tray of tea and offered it reverently: "Master, please have some tea!"
Feng Lingyan took the tea from Hua Qingguo with a smile and took a sip. He looked at Hua Qingguo's face full of joy and satisfaction, and was very satisfied with the little guy's polite behavior.
In this simple yet grand ceremony of apprenticeship, Hua Qingguo formally became the disciple of the world-famous Young Master Feng, starting his journey to become the "National Young Master" of the stunning Laifeng Empire after Feng Lingyan and Meng Lishi.
"You really are worthy of being my uncle. Not only was he admitted to the Imperial College as an exception at such a young age, but he also became my grandfather's disciple. He really won at the starting line!" Longlong (Su Muhongming), who is only one month older than Hua Qingguo, said with a thumbs up like a little adult.
Feng Feng (Nalan Zetian) on the side sighed with regret: "I was born before you were born, and when you were born, you were my uncle. I wish I was not born in another family so that I could marry you when I grow up!"
"He is your uncle!" Hua Qingcheng couldn't help but twitch her lips when she heard Nalan Zetian's words, and raised her hand to give her daughter a slap.
Seeing this, Mu Lige quickly waved to her one-year-and-five-month-old triplets who were playing at the doorway, "(Nalan) Yunxi, (Su Mu) Zheming, (Su Mu) Shaoming, come here!"
As Mu Lige finished speaking, three little fellows dressed in palace robes immediately climbed over the high threshold with their short legs, and then twisted and turned to come in front of Mu Lige, saying in unison: "Father, Queen!"
"Your queen mother misses you, go quickly!" Mu Lige touched the heads of the three little guys one by one and said with a smile.
Upon hearing this, Nalan Yunxi, Su Muzheming, and Su Mushaoming rushed towards Hua Qingcheng. The older sister grabbed her hands, while the two younger brothers each held a leg, tying her up tightly until she couldn't move. The scolded eldest sister, Nalan Zetian, was also rescued.
"You three naughty guys!" Hua Qingcheng scolded with a helpless smile.
At this moment, Situ Ye's two-year-and-six-month-old daughter, Nalan Tiexin, walked in with her younger brother, Nalan Yunyi. "My little uncle is so smart. It would be great if he could pursue a military career. He would definitely become a famous general like my great-grandfather!"
Two-year-and-eight-month-old Han Yunxuan shook his head and said, "My little uncle should learn cooking. Maybe he can follow in the footsteps of our great master's barbecued pork buns and create a new delicacy that will be popular in our Dalaifeng Empire!"
