Chapter 113 A Strange Murder

The summer weather is unusually dull and the rain comes without warning.

On the fourth day of July, on this pitch-black night without a trace of moonlight, Lian Xing, who was originally walking on the road with her servant, saw a sudden rain coming and had to run to the eaves of a roadside house to hide.

"Sir, please come in a little faster!"

Seeing that the rain was getting heavier, the servant hurriedly pulled Lianxing a little further inside.

"What bad luck!"

The sedan chair bearers, originally arranged to pick him up, felt the price was too low and therefore did not come to pick him up at the agreed time. After leaving the backyard of the county government office, Lian Xing waited for nearly half an hour. Finally, her patience ran out, and she took the servant and headed towards Hongchen Pavilion. Unexpectedly, the weather changed so suddenly that they hadn't even walked halfway when it suddenly began to rain.

Lian Xing's pretty eyebrows frowned slightly. Fortunately, the county magistrate gave him a lot of reward, otherwise it would not be worth it for him to come out so hard in the middle of the night.

On the fifteenth of last month, Lian Xing had already jumped ship from the Lanyan Pavilion in Baishui Town to the Hongchen Pavilion in Yunshui Town. Lian Xing had immediately become the new top performer, and even the county magistrate, Xiao Yanlan, was one of his patrons. He would be summoned every now and then, but he usually went in the evening and returned before midnight.

"Sir, please wait here. I'll go to the pharmacy in front and borrow an umbrella."

After the waiter finished speaking, he covered his head with his hands and ran towards the medicine shop a few dozen meters ahead.

"Knock knock—bang bang"

"Boom!—Boom! Boom!"

Although it was raining, the night watchman Old Hu still diligently struck the gong and patrolled the night.

Listening to the three o'clock time signal coming from afar, Lian Xing felt secretly anxious. It was already midnight, and there was no telling when the rain would stop.

"Boom boom..."

Suddenly, there was a terrifying thunder in the sky, and then a dazzling white light flashed across the sky like a sharp sword, instantly illuminating Lian Xing, who was dressed in a long robe. His handsome and charming face was clearly visible, and the toes of his indigo satin auspicious cloud embroidered shoes were half exposed at the hem of his clothes.

In the darkness of the night, in a dark and secluded corner of the alley, a pair of eerie eyes were staring straight ahead, staring at the charming and enchanting figure under the eaves of a roadside house.

Just as the man hiding in the dark was slowly approaching Lianxing and was about to swing his stick at him, two fighting figures suddenly flew out from the roof, one with a sword and the other with a knife. Regardless of the pouring rain, the two men fought fiercely not far from Nanxing.

One of them was dressed in red and black, holding a sword, his eyes fierce; the other wore a black nightgown, a half-cut purple and gold butterfly mask on his head, and a sharp sword in his hand. The two fighting were Duan Yunfei and Luo Wanhong.

"Duan Yunfei, you really are haunting me!"

Luo Wanhong's eyes were filled with anger as she glared at the man who was pursuing her relentlessly.

"If I don't catch you, this stinky mouse, I'll have to continue being a cat catching mice!"

Seeing the two fighting women suddenly appear and the rain gradually subsiding, Lian Xing quickly dodged and ran towards Hongchen Pavilion. He happened to meet the young servant who had borrowed an umbrella and came back to look for him. Lian Xing grabbed his hand and ran away quickly.

Seeing this, the people in the dark had no choice but to quietly retreat back to the dark alley with their wooden sticks, and then quietly leave under the cover of the pitch-black night.

At two o'clock in the morning, in a quiet alley, a man was walking home. Suddenly, a shadow flashed by, and the person in the shadows raised a club and dragged the man into the dark alley after he fainted.

In the dark alley, a powerful hand covered the face of the man who had fainted on the ground, until he stopped breathing. Then the man's underwear was torn off again. The person in the dark insulted him before putting his pants back on.

"Boom boom..."

A sudden rumble of thunder echoed through the sky, followed a moment later by lightning. A figure in the darkness pulled a kitchen knife from their bag and, with a single swipe, chopped off the dead man's feet at the calf. The blood-soaked knife, illuminated by the lightning, shone with a chilling, eerie glow, appearing both eerie and terrifying.

The man in the darkness took out a piece of cloth from his arms, wrapped the two severed feet, and stuffed a handful of paste into the dead man's mouth. Then the black shadow picked up the bundle wrapped with the two feet and left quietly in the night.

"grown ups!"

"grown ups!"

“Oh no!

At three quarters past midnight, Xiao Yanlan, who was sleeping with her husband in the backyard of the yamen, suddenly heard the yamen runner's urgent call again.

"Call, call, call the soul!"

"Your master, I am fine!"

As usual, Xiao Yanlan scolded the yamen runner before getting up from the bed and going to open the door.

Looking at the sullen-faced county magistrate standing at the door, the yamen runner on duty felt helpless, but had to report his responsibility:

"Sir, someone has reported the discovery of a young man's body in Ancha Lane. Coroner Song has examined it and found the same body as the one found in Anyang Lane. He had been insulted and had his feet chopped off. His mouth was also stuffed with paste. It was quite horrifying."

"What?"

Upon hearing the duty officer's report, Xiao Yanlan's sleepiness vanished instantly. In just two or three days, two murders had occurred within her jurisdiction, and they were both incredibly bizarre. Xiao Yanlan frowned, a headache welling up in her eyes. She then changed into her official robes and followed the duty officer to examine the bodies. She then arranged for personnel to quickly investigate the crime scene for clues.

Just as Xiao Yanlan was about to return to the yamen's backyard to catch up on some sleep, a sharp figure suddenly flew out from the high wall. Then, a woman with black hair tied high with a black headband, dressed in red and black, and holding a sword appeared before her.
