Chapter 77 The Nosy Old Man

"Li Ge will teach you!"

Mu Lige looked at Mu Lanjin's bewildered expression, and the corners of his mouth curled up slightly. It seemed that this "grandfather" his fourth brother had picked up wasn't completely useless after all.

"Yu Xiaotian, keep an eye on your grandpa!"

Hua Qingcheng, who had slept for less than an hour, left Han Yichen's room quietly. She went all the way to the front yard and angrily asked Yu Xiaotian to keep an eye on the nosy old man who disturbed her sleep.

Mu Lige couldn't help but smile when he saw his wife becoming more and more worldly-wise.

After finishing her meal, Hua Qingcheng took a short rest before returning to her space to plant the rice seedlings she had previously cultivated using a rice transplanter. She now had a full thirty acres of rice paddies planted within her space. The vegetables were growing well, and the fruit seedlings she had planted earlier had grown considerably. Even the sweet potatoes and potatoes she had recently planted were sprouting leaves. She then gathered some of the plump chili peppers she had previously transplanted into her space to plant.

By the time she finished her work and emerged from the space, it was only a quarter past nine. To prevent the old man from bothering her and disturbing her sleep, she decided to find him something to do to distract him.

At lunchtime in the main hall of the Hua family's old house, Hua Qingcheng looked at the table full of dishes prepared by Yu Xiaotian. After instructing Situ Ye to send one portion to Han Yichen, she said to Yu Xiaotian:

"Xiaotian, we've planted a lot of vegetables at home now, and we'll plant more other crops in the future. I'm afraid you'll have to work very hard at the housework."

"Of course, my wife. I'm not very good at other things, but I can still cook, wash clothes and clean for you at home." The fifteen-year-old boy blushed slightly.

"Well, everyone in our family has their own things to do, so the housework is left to you. While your grandfather is staying here, let him help you share some of the work."

After saying this, Hua Qingcheng looked at Mulan Jin meaningfully.

"Hmph! Although you are my granddaughter, I am not the kind of person who would accept charity. I will do the housework with Xiaotian, so don't worry."

After dinner, Mulan Jin went to help Yu Xiaotian clean up and wash the dishes. Although Yu Xiaotian felt a little sorry for him working at such an old age, seeing how agile he was, he could only let him do it. Hua Qingcheng also returned to her room as she had wished and had a good nap.

Mu Lige had been deeply moved since his morning conversation with Mulan Jin. Returning to his room, he picked up his brush and was about to write. But then he remembered the name he'd written on the slip of paper for his future child with Hua Qingcheng, which had nearly been discovered by his young wife, and so he abandoned the regular script, running script, official script, and seal script, deciding instead to write in cursive script. After all, with his young wife's current level of literacy, she probably wouldn't be able to understand. So, he grasped his brush and eloquently wrote a seven-character verse in cursive script:

Year.

Like water, speechless.

Listen to the falling leaves and sigh for the flowers.

Have lofty dreams and be determined.

The song is pure, kind and beautiful, singing the graceful passage of time.

Watch the world’s fantastic and ever-changing wonders, and see the vast and light clouds and mist.

How can a sparrow understand the ambition of a swan? The sea is vast and the mountains are high, standing proudly against the sky.
