Chapter 15: Visiting a Clothing Store

The environment in ancient times was not polluted by chemical industry and the air was very fresh. Hua Qingcheng, who was always busy running around, rarely enjoyed this leisurely time.

The weather was clear and the breeze was gentle, making it extremely comfortable. Sitting on the rickety ox cart, Hua Qingcheng admired the scenery along the way.

Overhead, the sky was azure, with a few white clouds floating in the air and the occasional chirping bird. On either side of the road lay yellow and green rice paddies, their ears already laden with grains, and they would be ready for harvest in another month.

Hua Qingcheng and Mu Lige were both pretty and handsome, so people couldn't help but secretly look at them along the way. However, due to Hua Qingcheng's unruly personality, no one dared to talk to them.

Huaqiao Village is about ten miles away from Baishui Town. The ox cart set out at noon and finally arrived at the town after half an hour.

Yu Qingyou parked the oxcart under a large banyan tree on the roadside and said to everyone, "The oxcart will leave here at noon on time for the village. You should hurry up to do your shopping or run errands. If you miss the noon trip, you will have to wait until the evening to return."

Normally, Yu Qingyou would only make one trip between Huaqiao Village and Baishui Town, but on market days, he would make one trip each in the morning and afternoon.

After everyone agreed, they got off the oxcart and went their separate ways. Hua Qingcheng took Mu Lige's hand and walked towards the town. They first went to the Baofeng Bank on Liuhua Road and exchanged the 100 taels of silver notes for cash.

One tael of silver here is equal to one thousand wen. At Hua Qingcheng's insistence, they exchanged a total of one ingot of fifty taels of silver, four ingots of ten taels of silver, and eight ingots of one tael of silver and two thousand wen copper coins.

Hua Qingcheng had previously discovered that even without entering the space, she could still freely take and place items. So, after handing eight taels of silver and a ten-tael ingot of silver to Mu Lige, she placed the eighty taels of silver in the backpack and took the opportunity to drop it onto the table in the villa room.

After all, no matter how reliable the bank was, it wasn't as safe as her space. Even if someone wanted to steal, they couldn't. As for the copper coins, she really put them in her backpack. After all, she had to go to the market to buy things soon, and copper coins were convenient.

Mu Lige originally wanted his wife to exchange ten taels of silver in cash and deposit the rest in the bank, but seeing that his wife insisted, he had no choice but to follow her lead.

Stuffing the silver into his sleeve, Mu Lige looked at Hua Qingcheng with a hint of worry. Since ancient times, nine out of ten gamblers lose. With so much money in hand all at once, would his wife's old habits relapse in a few days, leading her to go to the gambling den again? And then come back with a mountain of debt? He was truly afraid that these days, finally starting to feel a bit promising, would be back to the way things were overnight.

Looking at the sullen Mu Lige, Hua Qingcheng took his hands. The original owner's doctor was estimated to be at least 185 cm tall, while the original owner was about 165 cm tall. Due to the height difference, Hua Qingcheng could only look up into his eyes and said to him solemnly:

"Don't worry! I won't gamble again. But now we are still out, I will keep the bulk of the money for now, and I will return it to you when we get home."

She was still very confident in the original owner, a frugal and housekeeping doctor. Thanks to him for taking care of the family over the years, otherwise the original owner might have starved to death long ago, and there would be no such thing as her later transmigration.

Feeling the warmth in his hand, Mu Lige felt a little relieved. As long as his wife stopped doing that, he would obey her.

"Wife, are we going to the market to buy pots and pans now?"

"No rush, let's take a look around first."

After leaving the bank, Hua Qingcheng took Mu Lige's hand and went to a nearby clothing store. Although they were dressed simply, they had a distinguished temperament, and the shop assistants at Ling Qingyifang still treated them warmly.

Looking at the dazzling array of ready-made clothes and his wife's excited look, Mu Lige felt a little pain in his heart, wondering how much money his wife was going to waste here.

Hua Qingcheng fell in love with a crescent-white, cross-necked silk robe at first sight. She placed it in front of Mu Lige and tried it out. She felt very satisfied with it, but the price was a bit expensive. When she asked, she found out it was ten taels of silver.

Seeing this, Mu Lige immediately pulled Hua Qingcheng aside.

"Wife, my father just gave me a piece of cloth, so I don't need to buy any more clothes. If you really need to buy some, we can go to the cloth shop and buy a few feet of cloth. We can make one for each of my three brothers. We can save a lot of money by making it ourselves. There's no need to buy ready-made clothes."

Although Hua Qingcheng likes to save money, she didn't expect to meet a husband who is even more frugal. But because of his understanding and consideration for the overall situation, Hua Qingcheng feels even more reluctant to treat him unfairly.

"Sir, this satin robe is very nice and the price is very affordable, only two taels of silver."

The guy in the store tactfully recommended another piece of clothing that was made of slightly inferior fabric, but had a good style and was cheaper.

Hua Qingcheng took a look and thought it was indeed acceptable, so she asked Mu Lige to try it out. Looking at Mu Lige, dressed in a wide-sleeved white robe, his long hair flowing, handsome and extraordinary, like a banished immortal, Hua Qingcheng couldn't help but feel a lump in her throat. At this moment, there was only one sentence in her mind: The man on the road is as beautiful as jade, and the young master is unparalleled in the world.

"Okay, that's it!"

Two taels of silver was enough for their family to support them for a long time. Seeing that Hua Qingcheng was really planning to buy such expensive clothes, Mu Lige hurriedly advised:

"Wife, I think it's better to forget it. I can cut the cloth that father gave me and make it myself."

"Sir, look how well this dress suits you! It's rare that your wife loves you so much. Our shop is also a long-established one. To be honest, in all my time here, I rarely see wives bringing their husbands to buy ready-made clothes!"

The waiter was very smart and came forward to flatter him again.
