In the early autumn chill, green bamboos swayed wildly in a large house on Monster Mountain.
The patriarchs of the Bai family were all gathered around the large stone table, their eyes fixed on it with concern.
In the middle of the table, a round, white kitten stared at them with its wet eyes.
“Lili”.
The oldest man looked at the little kitten surrounded by people with heartache.
The kitten's name is Bai Li, and he is his grandson. If it weren't for the circumstances, he really wouldn't want to leave his grandson behind on the mountain.
"Your father and I have already packed your bags."
The old man softened his voice and asked, "Do you still remember what you were going to do after you came down the mountain?"
Bai Li tilted her head and answered crisply, "I want to find a fiancé!"
"What's next?" the old man continued to ask.
Bai Li pondered for a moment: "Find my fiancé and have him help me transform into human form!"
He's seventeen years old now. Other cats have already transformed into human form, but he's still stuck in his kitten form and can't transform successfully.
Grandpa said that he was betrothed as a child and had a fiancé. As long as he found his fiancé, he could successfully transform into human form.
"The final step?"
The old man patiently guided him, and this last step was crucial; his beloved grandson couldn't forget it.
After being lectured by its elders for many days, the little kitten put on a stern face and said fiercely, "I've successfully transformed! Dump your fiancé!"
According to my grandfather and the others, my fiancé had cheated on me when we were kids. So, my ultimate goal in coming down the mountain this time is to make sure he cheats on me too.
He's going to be a jerk cat!
"Clap clap clap—"
When the elders watching saw that he answered correctly, they immediately started clapping and applauding.
"Lili is great, she remembered all the steps clearly this time."
Bai Li's eyes crinkled with delight at the elders' praise. He had a terrible memory and often forgot things; it had taken them many days to teach him how to walk down the mountain in three steps.
He wrote it down from memory several times in his room.
Looking for a fiancé.
Transformation.
Dump your fiancé!
He remembered all three steps perfectly and even wrote them down in his notebook to remind himself not to forget them.
His elders repeatedly told him that once he successfully transformed into human form, he must return and not linger in the world below the mountain.
But even after Bai Li held up her paws and made several promises, the elders still couldn't bear to part with them.
well.
Due to the mountain's restrictions, only one demon can descend the mountain each year, so they cannot accompany Lili.
“Lili, you have several older brothers and sisters who went down the mountain a few years ago. I don’t know how they are doing. When you get down the mountain, remember to look for them and ask them to take care of you.”
Bai Li was bewildered: "How am I supposed to find my older brothers and sisters?"
The elders looked at each other, somewhat embarrassed.
Bai Li was too weak; he couldn't sense the presence of his older brothers and sisters.
Among this generation of cubs, Bai Li was the weakest. She almost died at birth and, even at nearly eighteen years old, she couldn't transform into human form.
Eighteen is a threshold. If Bai Li is over eighteen and still can't transform into human form, he will be stuck as a kitten for the rest of his life.
This is why the elders could no longer wait and let him go down the mountain alone to find his fiancé.
That fiancé was chosen for Bai Li by the fortune teller, who said it was Bai Li's destiny.
"I've got it."
Grandma Bai turned her head and instructed her second daughter, "Go to the back mountain and send a signal so that Lili's older brothers and sisters know that it is Lili who came down the mountain this time."
Because she was the youngest and cutest, Bai Li was the beloved pet cat of the clan from a young age.
The older brothers and sisters who came down from the mountain doted on Bai Li rotten while they were in the mountains.
The older siblings often fought over who got to hold their younger brother more often.
The signal flare was quickly launched; this was a unique way of alerting people in Monster Mountain, and all the Bai family brothers and sisters coming down the mountain would see it.
Grandma Bai personally tied up Bai Li's little bundle and then kissed his head.
"Lili, if you really can't transform into human form, it's okay. Come back to the mountain and Grandma will think of another way."
"Don't be like your older brothers and sisters, who don't know how to go home after they come down from the mountain."
Bai Li looked up and, seeing the tears welling up in her grandmother's eyes, tiptoed and gave her a comforting kiss.
"I will go home."
Bai Li earnestly promised, "I will bring you gifts back!"
The elders standing at the mountain gate took turns hugging the kitten they had pampered for over ten years, struggling to hold back their reluctance as they released it.
"Lili is still so young. Won't he suffer if he goes down the mountain?"
“He can’t take human form, so he can only carry a small bundle. I have so many things I wanted to bring him, but I can’t.”
"Bai Lin is the boss. If he can't find Lili, I'll skin him alive when we get back to the mountain!"
"That's right! If these brats dare to make our Lili suffer, I'll make sure they're bald."
The elders, one after another, reached a consensus.
Bai Li, carrying a bundle down the mountain, had a map hanging around her neck and was using it to find her way.
This search took a full week.
Because this little kitten has never traveled far from home, its terrible sense of direction only came to light at this moment.
Time flies, and another month has passed in the blink of an eye.
The chubby little kitten that couldn't transform was gone from Monster Mountain, but a dirty, gray kitten appeared in City A.
The little dirty cat was none other than Bai Li. At this moment, Bai Li was sitting on the ground under the car wheel, looking in shock as her printed enamel bowl for drinking water was mercilessly crushed into enamel pieces.
"My bowl."
Coming to her senses, Bai Li said blankly, "This is the last one."
Without this, he'll have to drink water directly from the tap with his mouth from now on.
Just as Bai Li was stunned, an old voice rang out from the cart that had hit him and crushed his last bowl.
"What happened?! What did you bump into?"
"Butler, it looks like, it looks like a kitten."
The driver's voice trembled slightly: "He was too small, I really didn't see him."
"What are you standing there for? Go check if the cat is dead. If not, pick it up and take it to the vet later." The butler said angrily, "If the cat dies, you know the consequences."
The driver, pale-faced, nodded and got out of the car to look at the cat.
The gentleman was lying in his car.
The man is in bad shape and is on his way to a private hospital. It would be extremely unlucky if he were to run over and kill a cat at this critical moment.
The superstitious housekeeper certainly wouldn't let him off the hook.
The driver's legs were trembling as he got out of the car. He walked cautiously to the front of the vehicle, silently praying.
"Don't die! You have to hold on for me. I have elderly parents and young children to support. I'm the one who has to make a living. Please, my dear cat, you have to be alright."
Perhaps he prayed too sincerely, because when he squatted down in front of the wheel, he actually found a kitten sitting under the wheel, seemingly unharmed.
The driver breathed a sigh of relief and, without minding the kitten's dirtiness, simply lifted it into the car.
"Butler, the cat isn't dead."
After saying those words, the driver noticed that the butler's expression softened considerably.
"Bring it up."
"yes."
After giving a brief report to the housekeeper, the driver returned to the driver's seat and began to concentrate on driving.
Bai Li, who was suddenly lifted up, exclaimed, "Meow?"
Where am I?!
Sitting in the car, Bai Li tightened the small bundle on his back with his paws, then tilted his head back and began to look around at his surroundings.
The car was large, with a single bed in the back. There was someone lying on the bed, but Bai Li was too short, and his neck ached from looking up, so he couldn't see what the person looked like.
Bai Li stretched out his two paws, trying to stand up. He couldn't see the person's face clearly, but the person's aura was cold, an abnormal cold.
"Meow!"
Bai Li jumped, but instead of landing on the bed, she landed on the lap of the old man in a suit standing next to the bed.
The old man looked down and met the dirty little kitten's gaze. His usually serious face showed no disgust; instead, it softened.
The old man used to say that if they encountered a cat, they had to treat it kindly. That's why he brought the cat up even in such an emergency.
"It's just a kitten, and it's so dirty. Was it abandoned?"
As the old man spoke, he used the warm water that was in the car to give him a quick wash.
Bai Li is a clean cat and doesn't mind being wiped down at all.
In return, he took advantage of the old man's inattention and successfully jumped onto the bed, sending a tiny bit of spiritual energy to the man with his claws.
Although the man had his eyes closed, Bai Li was still stunned for a few seconds after seeing his face clearly, as if she had never seen anything like it before.
It's really beautiful.
She's more beautiful than anyone he's ever seen!
"Hey, come down quickly."
The old woman was so anxious when she saw him jumping around on the bed that she was sweating profusely: "My husband is still unconscious, Kitty, don't step on him!"
Bai Li, who had been sending spiritual energy, tilted her head innocently, jumped back into the old man's arms, and asked him to hug her: "Meow meow."
I'm not heavy, I just look round.
The old man felt his heart soften inexplicably as he looked into those beautiful, wet amber eyes.
"You, who are so well-behaved, how come you are so naughty?"
The old man stroked his white fur, and his reprimands were always delivered in a soft voice.
"The gentleman has a bad temper. It's a good thing he didn't wake up, otherwise, I can't guarantee I could still put you in the car."
Upon hearing this, Bai Li turned back to look at the "sir" the old man was referring to.
Such a handsome gentleman, does he have a bad temper? The looks-obsessed little kitten has some doubts about this.
The car sped along.
After another ten minutes or so, we finally arrived at the private hospital.
"Kitty, I'll have someone take you to the vet for a check-up. I need to get off the bus with my husband."
"If you behave well, you can be our cat from now on."
The old man handed Bai Li over to one of his bodyguards and instructed him to take the cat for a check-up, while he stayed by the man's side and went into the hospital in front of them.
Bai Li watched the old man and the handsome gentleman disappear, then patted his bodyguard and said, "Meow."
Put me down!
He's not going for a medical checkup.
He knew that the pet hospitals in the city would neuter kittens!
Bai Li was just washed and fed in the car.
He generously thought that it would just be enough to offset the damage to his flattened enamel bowl.
Now, they're even.
Bai Li struggled to jump to the ground. He didn't want to be someone's house cat; he still wanted to find a fiancé.
