Chapter 7 Mao Mao is a Little Lucky Star

Chapter 7 Mao Mao is a Little Lucky Star

Lou Hongjian had originally arranged to go to a karaoke bar with Young Master Feng that evening, but he canceled at the last minute.

When Lou Dashuai and his son returned home, he was dressed in new clothes, his hair was neatly combed, and he looked presentable.

Seeing that he was staying at home obediently and hadn't gone anywhere, Lou Fengju raised an eyebrow and asked in surprise, "Did you get into trouble outside?"

Do I look like that kind of person?

"So you don't have enough money?"

Lou Hongjian said with a grin, "Brother, if you want to give me some, I won't mind too much."

Lou Fengju scoffed and slapped away the hand that was reaching out to him: "Get lost."

Whether this younger brother learned any real skills while studying in France is debatable, but he certainly mastered the art of debauchery and pleasure. Since returning to China, he has spent his days frequenting amusement parks and has earned a considerable reputation for womanizing.

Lou Fengju heard that he had been frequently visiting the racecourse recently and had become obsessed with horse racing.

"You better behave yourself," Lou Fengju warned. "Playing is fine, but if you get involved with anything dirty, don't say it's your father, I'll be the first to beat you."

Lou Hongjian pursed his lips: "I'm doing something serious."

Lou Fengju did not argue with him.

A series of thumping footsteps came from upstairs; it was Mao Mao coming down.

She was short and slow, so she went down the stairs slowly; each step was almost as long as her legs. When going downstairs, she would first squat down, grab the handrail to steady herself, and then tentatively stretch one short leg down until she had a firm footing before slowly putting the other leg down as well.

They would stop and rest after climbing one floor, and even after descending for a long time, they would still squat on the stairs and stretch their legs.

Lou Fengju went upstairs to change his clothes. When he came down, he picked up the little baby from the ground and weighed him in his hand: "Wow, he's quite heavy."

Mao Mao grabbed his shoulders and obediently called out, "Brother."

Lou Fengju took a long stride and reached the bottom of the stairs, which were too high for Mao Mao, in just a few steps.

He carried his younger sister into the restaurant. Apart from Lou Yansui, who had difficulty moving around, everyone else was already seated at the long table.

The Lou family's long table had designated seats, with the newly arrived fourth concubine, Xia Xiaoxiang, and Mao Mao sitting at the very back. Just as he was about to put Mao Mao on a chair, Commander Lou spoke from the other end of the long table: "Fengju, bring Mao Mao over here."

Before dinner was served, Lou Dashuai clenched his hands and mysteriously held them up in front of Mao Mao.

"Mao Mao, I heard you're incredibly lucky." Commander Lou's imposing tiger-like face broke into a smile. "I have a gem in my hand. If you can guess which hand it's in, I'll give it to you. How about it?"

Mao Mao tilted her head: "A gemstone?"

"Yes, it's a huge and beautiful gem."

The others at the long table all looked over.

Lou Fengju sat down to watch the play and said leisurely, "Dad, you're so generous?"

Others thought the same thing.

Gems are not rare, but to give them to a three-year-old child like that, how can Mao Mao, who is so young, appreciate gems?

Lou Hongjian exclaimed, "Dad, you're never this generous to me!"

Lou Dashuai chuckled without saying a word, only shaking his fist, which was as big as a sandbag, at Mao Mao.

The curiosity of others was also piqued.

Especially the concubines, they were the ones who told Mao Mao about her lucky charm. Will Mao Mao be able to guess correctly this time?

Mao Mao looked left and right, thought for a while, then raised her chubby little face and said firmly, "There's nothing on either side."

Lou Dashuai was taken aback.

The onlookers clenched their fists and sighed in unison.

They were filled with regret: Why didn't they guess correctly? Even if they had just guessed randomly, there would have been a 50/50 chance of getting it right!

It would be so great to give them this opportunity!

So what is the truth?

Lou Dashuai opened his hands, and both palms were empty, with nothing in them.

Everyone was stunned.

Lou Fengju burst out laughing: "Dad, how childish of you to try and fool a child?"

Whether it's childish or not is another matter, but Lou Dashuai was puzzled: "Mao Mao, how do you know there isn't one?"

"Because Mom always lies to me like this." Mao Mao clenched her little hands and said angrily, "Mom said that if I guessed which hand the food was in, she would give it to me to eat, but it was always empty!"

Everyone turned to look at Xia Xiaoxiang, who felt so embarrassed she wanted to disappear into the ground.

She chuckled awkwardly, "My family isn't well-off."

There's a little glutton at home who wants to eat everything he sees. Sometimes, she uses this method to coax Mao Mao.

Mao Mao said sweetly, "Mom is poor, so Mao Mao can eat less."

She tilted her little face up and looked innocently at Lou Dashuai: "Dad Lou, is your family also very poor?"

Commander Lou: "..."

Meeting the child's clear, round eyes, Lou Dashuai's lips moved slightly. He raised his head and met several reproachful gazes from the table.

Neither yes nor no is correct.

A bead of cold sweat slid down Lou Dashuai's forehead. The First Madam beckoned to the maid and whispered a few words. Soon, the maid returned with a jar of colorful candies.

Lou Dashuai received the candy jar with a smile, as if he had been granted a pardon. "That was just a warm-up. Now I'm getting serious. Mao Mao, do you want some candy?"

Mao Mao's eyes sparkled, and she answered him in a very loud, childlike voice, "Mao Mao wants to eat!"

"Okay, if you guessed right, I'll give you the candy."

Lou Dashuai turned his back, grabbed a piece of candy in his hand, and asked, "Guess what color it is?"

Mao Mao happily guessed: "Red!"

I opened my hand, and it was indeed red.

Lou Dashuai grabbed another one: "What about this one?"

"green!"

It's green again.

What about this one?

"Yellow!"

"..."

"blue!"

"Red!"

...

At first, it was just to amuse the children, but as the candies in the jar dwindled, the people who had been sitting and watching gradually sat up straight and craned their necks to look incredulously.

You guessed right.

You guessed them all right!

No matter what color candy Lou Dashuai took out of the jar, Mao Mao could guess the color of every single one!

You might be lucky once or twice, but what about ten or twenty times?

Even if it's just good luck, this is still too good!

Could someone have helped her cheat?

The three Lou brothers looked on in disbelief. Lou Hongjian was the first to lose his composure. He stepped forward, took the candy jar from his father, secretly grabbed a candy, and held it tightly in front of Mao Mao: "Guess what mine is?"

Mao Mao stared at his hand for a while, then her little tuft of hair swayed happily: "Brother, I bet it's green in your hand."

Lou Hongjian opened his hand, and sure enough, there was a green candy in his palm.

"this……"

"That's incredibly lucky." Lou Heming adjusted his glasses and asked in surprise, "Was it all just a guess?"

Lou Dashuai looked at the little dumpling in front of him with surprise and delight, his eyes sparkling: "Mao Mao, how are you so amazing?"

The ladies chimed in, "If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it."

"That's amazing."

"When we play mahjong in the afternoon, whoever Mao Mao sits with wins."

"Mao Mao's mother also said that Mao Mao is her little lucky star."

"Little Lucky Star?" Commander Lou read it aloud, then burst into laughter: "That's right, Little Lucky Star. It was thanks to Mao Mao that I was able to escape with my life. Mao Mao is my Little Lucky Star too!"

Mao Mao is amazing!

Mao Mao happily carried a whole jar of her spoils and ran back to her mother's side, her footsteps clattering with joy.

Mao Mao got some candy!

...

That night, Lou Hongjian lay in bed.

He slept too much during the day and couldn't fall asleep for a while, so he wandered around the house to pass the time.

When he saw the newspaper he had placed on his bedside table, a thought struck him, and he suddenly remembered something.

I picked it up and flipped back to the sports page, where there were still marks he had made with his pen.

Lou Hongjian looked at the racehorses described above, first focusing on horse number 7, which he had chosen, and then turning his attention to horse number 3, whose resume was the most unremarkable.

Could it really be number 3?
