Chapter 213 Mao Mao doesn't like him anymore either!
That evening, Mao Mao nestled in her brother's arms and listened as he read Mao Mao's new story.
After the story was finished, Mao Mao yawned, curled up into a ball, clasped her little hands to her cheeks, and looked drowsy.
Lou Yansui tidied up the scattered manuscript papers, placed them on the bedside table, and turned off the bedside lamp.
He turned around and hugged his little sister's warm body, nuzzling his cheek against the soft hair on her head: "Sleep well, Mao Mao."
Mao Mao doesn't sleep.
As soon as Lou Yansui closed her eyes, she felt two warm little hands groping her face haphazardly and smearing it without any order.
"Maomao?"
Lou Yansui opened her eyes again.
The moonlight was very bright tonight. The curtains weren't drawn, and the light shone through the window, allowing him to see his sister's bright, watery eyes clearly.
Lou Yansui asked in confusion, "Mao Mao, do you still want to hear the story?"
"elder brother."
Mao Mao's small body snuggled up to him like a little puppy, burrowing into his arms: "Brother, are you unhappy?"
Lou Yansui was taken aback.
After a moment, he retorted, "I didn't."
"Really?"
"real."
"Then why aren't you doing your homework?"
"I did it."
Mao Mao didn't speak, but stared at him with her big, dark eyes, not blinking.
"..." Lou Yansui pursed her lips.
The little boy's eyes were clear and bright in the moonlight, as if they could reflect all his thoughts.
Okay, he did his homework. But it was just ordinary homework.
Mao Mao knows, her brother really likes Uncle Shen, loves going to school, and enjoys doing the homework he assigns. While her brother does his homework, Mao Mao draws next to him, and they're both very happy.
Mao Mao placed her little hand on her brother's face, her chubby cheeks filled with concern: "Brother, are you unhappy?"
Lou Yansui said softly, "Mao Mao, how did you find out?"
"My brother is just unhappy."
"..."
"Brother, don't be sad." Mao Mao thought for a moment and said, "Brother, eat candy. Eating candy will make you happy."
As she spoke, she struggled to get up, wanting to get candy for her brother, but Lou Yansui quickly pulled her back and hugged her in his arms.
"I'm not eating," Lou Yansui said. "I brushed my teeth."
"Okay." Mao Mao obediently lay back down, opening her bright black eyes: "Then brother will eat candy tomorrow."
Lou Yansui smiled and said, "Thank you, Mao Mao."
Perhaps it was because it was late at night, and only the two of them were in the warm bed, the darkness especially conducive to sharing secrets. He thought for a moment and said, "I haven't been unhappy for a long time. But if you want to know, I can tell you."
Mao Mao quickly opened her eyes wide and pretended to listen attentively.
Lou Yansui gave her a heads-up: "I can tell you, but you can't tell anyone else."
"Can't I tell my mother either?"
"I can't tell you," Lou Yansui whispered. "It's a secret only the two of us know. Can you keep it a secret for me?"
Mao Mao nodded her little head vigorously.
She held up her short finger and said seriously, "Brother, pinky promise."
Lou Yansui made a pinky promise with her little finger before revealing the secret: "Mao Mao, I don't like Teacher Shen anymore."
This secret is actually related to someone Mao Mao knows!
Her eyes widened suddenly. "Brother, don't you like Uncle Chen a lot?"
“That was before. From today onwards, I will—” Saying “I hate him” wasn’t quite right either. Lou Yansui searched for a long time before finally finding a suitable expression: “I am very disappointed in him.”
Mao Mao's eyes widened even more: "Brother, did Uncle Chen bully you?"
Lou Yansui nodded decisively: "Yes!"
He solemnly declared: "I am very angry!"
Mao Mao immediately clenched her little fist and angrily smacked the blanket: "I even gave him some snacks!"
Lou Yansui was completely confused: "What kind of snacks?"
Of course, it was the chocolate that Mao Mao gave me!
Mao Mao asked Uncle Shen to take care of her brother. Later, he kept his word, and her brother also liked Uncle Shen very much.
Unexpectedly, without Mao Mao's knowledge, Uncle Shen was actually bullying her brother behind Mao Mao's back!
She said angrily, "Mao Mao doesn't like him anymore either!"
Lou Yansui couldn't help but laugh.
It was as if a pair of soft little hands were soothing all the grievances in his heart.
Between him and Teacher Shen, Mao Mao chose him without hesitation.
Lou Yansui thought to herself: So what if Teacher Shen doesn't choose him? Anyway, in Mao Mao's heart, he is definitely favored.
The grievances vanished, replaced by immense joy, filling his chest to the point of overflowing. This childish comparison made him somewhat embarrassed; even without turning on the light, he feared the moonlight would expose his secret delight. He shrank under the covers, hiding his flushed ears.
Mao Mao hugged his head and patted it with her little hands as if to comfort him: "Brother, don't be unhappy."
Lou Yansui covered the corners of her mouth with the blanket: "Mao Mao, don't you really like Teacher Shen? You even invited him to your birthday party."
"He bullied my brother!"
"Aren't you going to ask him how he bullied me?"
“Brother is unhappy,” Mao Mao said. “Uncle Chen is bad.”
In Mao Mao's heart, her older brother naturally came before her uncle.
How could Mao Mao remain indifferent when her beloved older brother was being bullied?
As her brother's best friend, Mao Mao said without hesitation, "If my brother doesn't like Uncle Shen, then Mao Mao doesn't like him either."
Lou Yansui was overjoyed.
If it weren't so late, he really wanted to do a math problem, or play the piano all night, or dance all night like his third brother.
Whatever he does, he won't be able to sleep for a while anyway.
Unfortunately, he and Mao Mao both have to get up early tomorrow.
Lou Yansui had no choice but to suppress his excitement and hugged his sister with satisfaction: "I've told you my secret, thank you, Mao Mao. From today onwards, I will definitely be happy every day."
Mao Mao patted her brother's head again.
She closed her eyes peacefully and then fell asleep.
...
the next day.
"A-Sui? Mao-Mao?"
Lou Hongjian got up very early and started banging on his younger siblings' doors.
He made a special appearance, looking as handsome as if he had been invited to a fashion party, and was full of energy early in the morning, more flamboyant than a peacock in the zoo.
Today, they are indeed going to the zoo.
Lou Hongjian dug his younger brother and sister out of bed. Seeing that they were still half asleep, he smiled and, taking advantage of their momentary lapse in attention, suddenly reached out and ruffled Lou Yansui's hair.
"Third Brother!!"
Lou Hongjian laughed heartily. Before he could retaliate, he scooped up the still-sleepy Mao Mao beside him, hugged his sister, and laughed as he dodged away: "A-Sui, get up quickly! We're going to the zoo today! If you get up late, we won't wait for you."
Lou Yansui was stunned: "But I have to go to school today."
“You have to go to school every day. You’re so smart, missing one day won’t make a difference.” Lou Hongjian said with a beaming smile, “The only chance to take Mao Mao to the zoo is today. I’ve already called the school to ask for leave for you, hurry up!”
After saying that, he picked up his sister and strode out, his footsteps gradually fading into the distance.
Mao Mao, still half asleep, leaned on her third brother's shoulder and reached out to grab her fourth brother. Before she could react, her hand was snatched away.
Lou Yansui sat on the bed in a daze for a moment, then suddenly threw off the covers and jumped up.
"Third Brother! Wait for me!"
