Chapter 13 My Fourth Brother Said I Was Really Useless

Chapter 13 My Fourth Brother Said I Was Really Useless

Lou Hongjian was beaten and had to stay in bed to recover.

Lou Heming, the second brother, was a doctor and personally applied the medicine for him.

"Ouch—be gentle, be gentle!" Lou Hongjian cried out in pain, cold sweat pouring down his face, "Second brother, I'm your own brother!"

Lou Heming softened his movements and said, "He's my own brother, otherwise I wouldn't bother with you."

He closed the first-aid kit, looked at his younger brother who was buried in the pillow, pale and weak, and reached out to ruffle his hair.

Lou Hongjian usually pays attention to his image and demeanor, always sporting the latest trendy hairstyle and a well-designed suit. But looking at his hand now, he couldn't even muster the strength to swing it, and could only stare blankly with his peach blossom eyes.

Lou Heming smiled slightly: "You're not happy that your father hit you?"

"I didn't," Lou Hongjian said dejectedly. "How could I dare? It's only right that Dad hit me."

Lou Heming: "You deserved to be hit."

Lou Hongjian glared at him, not wanting to pay him any attention. When he turned over, he aggravated the wounds on his body, and immediately winced in pain.

“Dad knew the first time you won money.” Lou Heming adjusted his glasses and said, “He originally wanted you to learn a lesson so you would know you were wrong. But who told you to take Mao Mao away today?”

Lou Hongjian was even more frustrated: "Who exactly is his son?"

“Mao Mao is his precious daughter.” Lou Heming laughed. “You know that Dad has always wanted a daughter. When Mom was pregnant with Asui, Dad looked forward to it for a long time, but in the end he was very disappointed.”

Now that he has a daughter, Lou Dashuai couldn't be happier.

The first thing I do when I get home every day is look for someone, no matter how small.

In the hearts of the four brothers, Commander Lou had always been a strict father. He was rough in nature and had long held a high position, which made him imposing even without anger, and the brothers were all a little afraid of him. But in front of Mao Mao, he always had a smile on his face and would even imitate Mao Mao's voice in a high-pitched voice.

But when faced with such a small, sweet, soft girl who looks like a little cake, who smiles sweetly as soon as you meet her and even acts coquettishly, who can harden their heart?

Lou Heming looked at his younger brother with reproach: "In the end, you went too far. You're a scoundrel yourself, and why did you drag Mao Mao into it?"

"I know, I know, I know I was wrong." Lou Hongjian covered his ears and buried his face in the pillow, not wanting to hear him nagging.

Seeing his expression, Lou Heming shook his head and didn't say anything more.

He carried his medical kit out and, as he passed the stairs, saw a freshly washed, fragrant little dumpling on the steps.

Mao Mao held onto the handrail of the stairs, slowly inching her way up. The stairs were a bit high, and her legs were too short, so when climbing the stairs, she had to lift her legs high first, and then push herself up with a whoosh.

She climbed one floor, then rested. Now she was squatting exhausted in the middle of the stairs, panting and resting.

"Maomao?"

Mao Mao looked up and saw him: "Brother?"

Lou Heming put down the medical kit, walked down the steps, and picked her up.

When he picked up the little girl, he weighed her in his arms, looking a little puzzled. He looked at his sister's chubby arms, which were like lotus roots, and her body was full of baby fat.

"Aren't you a little overweight?" Lou Heming, being a doctor, was a bit concerned. "You don't look very fat, so why are you so heavy?"

Mao Mao blinked her eyes and looked at him innocently.

The baby is solid!

"Mao Mao, are you here to see Ah Hong?"

Mao Mao obediently said, "Mother said that Third Brother was beaten, so Mao Mao came to see him."

Lou Heming was about to nod and take her to see Lou Hongjian when he saw another person walking up the stairs.

His military uniform was crisp and his posture was like a pine tree. It was his elder brother, Lou Fengju.

Lou Fengju had clearly come to see his younger brother as well; his gun holster was still on, and he exuded a cold and hard aura. Lou Heming exchanged a glance with him, and they nodded to each other.

A beating can teach someone a lesson, but it doesn't necessarily make them submit.

Some things need to be said to be understood. Commander Lou has just finished wielding the whip; now it's time to offer the older brothers the sweet treats.

"He just lay down and is resting. You can come see him again tomorrow." Lou Heming carried Mao Mao downstairs and brushed past his brother.

He smiled gently: "Let me take you to find Asui. He must be thinking of you."

"OK."

Down to the second floor, Lou Heming put the person down. Mao Mao waved her little hand at him and then trotted off to Lou Yansui's room with her short legs.

Soon after, laughter could be heard from inside.

Lou Heming stood and listened for a while before carrying his medical kit downstairs.

"...So, Third Brother took you to see the horse race?!" Lou Yansui said incredulously, "He actually took you there..."

The last word was not spoken.

He glanced at the little girl whose face was full of innocence and naivety, and swallowed the word back.

No wonder Third Brother got beaten up. When asked what Mao Mao had done that day, he couldn't help but get angry too.

If it weren't for his physical limitations, he really wanted to give his third brother a good beating!

Lou Yansui clenched her fists and said angrily, "How could he do this!"

“Third brother is so nice~” Mao Mao drew a big circle with her little hand and said happily, “He even bought me such a big cotton candy, bigger than Mao Mao.”

Lou Yansui: "..."

His chest heaved a few times, the breath he had been holding in was released, leaving only helplessness.

What does Mao Mao know?

She was only three years old and had no idea what she was doing that day. She was just overjoyed because she felt she could help her brother. The only one at fault was her third brother, who took advantage of Mao Mao's good luck.

Lou Yansui was still somewhat blaming herself.

He was the closest person to Mao Mao in the family. If he had asked Mao Mao and her third brother one more question about what they were going to do, perhaps today's events wouldn't have happened.

Lou Yansui lowered her eyes, her long eyelashes casting a small, dark shadow.

But he...

There's nothing he can do.

Even when his third brother was being disciplined, he could only stay upstairs and wait until it was all over before he found out what had happened.

"If only I could...," Lou Yansui said self-reproachfully. "Mao Mao, I'm so useless."

"elder brother?"

Mao Mao tilted her head to look at him.

A moment later, she reached out her small hand and placed it on the back of Lou Yansui's tightly clenched hand.

"Brother, you're amazing."

Her small hands were soft and warm, and the warmth emanated from where their hands touched.

Mao Mao said with an admiring look, "He will tell Mao Mao many stories, introduce her to many, many things, and give her delicious candy... Brother is a hundred times better than Mao Mao!"

One hundred was the largest number she knew.

Mao Mao's admiration for her brother is higher than the sky and broader than the sea; it cannot be measured in numbers.

"My brother is the best!"

Her sweet, childlike voice is like a marshmallow, enveloping you and melting your heart.

Lou Yansui turned around and held her small hand, the boy's eyes crinkling with laughter: "Brother likes Mao Mao the most too."
