Chapter 70 Brother Takes You Home
Chapter 70
Lou Fengju hugged his sister tightly.
It was so strong that it seemed to be drawing warmth from Mao Mao's body.
Joy filled his chest, making him so strong that he almost lost control. Mao Mao made a soft "hmm?" sound in his arms, and he quickly relaxed.
"Mao Mao, are you alright? Did I hurt you?"
"Brother, I'm fine."
Are you injured anywhere? Did the kidnappers do anything to you?
Mao Mao obediently shook her head: "No, brother."
Lou Fengju was still not at ease, so he checked her from head to toe, not missing a single hair.
He breathed a sigh of relief and was completely at ease only after confirming that his sister was truly unharmed, not frightened, and not injured, except for being a little dirty.
It's good that you're alright, it's good that you're alright.
He didn't even dare to think about what those despicable kidnappers would do to the hostages after they abducted them. Those people were ruthless; they wouldn't show any mercy even to a three-year-old child.
Mao Mao is still so young. If something were to happen to her, he would never have peace of mind for the rest of his life.
Lou Fengju picked up his younger sister and was reluctant to put her down.
He looked at his sister with tender affection, but when he looked up at Hu Dahu, his dark eyes under his military cap were filled with a cold glint.
"Take them away," Lou Fengju said coldly.
The soldier replied, "Yes, sir."
Several soldiers strode toward Hu Dahu.
As the sharp-eyed soldiers approached, Hu Dahu didn't have time to think; he gritted his teeth, turned around, and ran.
He can't get caught! If he gets caught, he's finished!
He was surrounded by vehicles, but there were gaps between them. His eyes scanned the area, and he quickly found a gap. Before the soldiers could grab him, he darted straight into that opening.
As long as you escape, you'll have a chance!
It was so dark, perfect for hiding. He and his accomplices had already scouted the surrounding terrain beforehand, knowing where the best places to hide were. As long as they evaded the soldiers' eyes and ears and escaped Haicheng, they could…
In a flash, Lou Fengju drew his sidearm from his waist and fired without blinking.
With a "bang," Hu Dahu's figure froze in mid-air. He stared wide-eyed at the pitch-black night before him, a small hole the size of a peanut appearing on his forehead.
With another "bang," his body fell heavily to the ground, dust billowing up, and he was no longer breathing in an instant.
"Huh?"
The gunshot startled Mao Mao. She instinctively tried to turn her head to look, but before she could, her brother held her down.
Lou Fengju pressed her small head into his arms and gestured to his men to dispose of the body.
"Brother?" Mao Mao nestled in his arms and said in confusion, "Brother, I can't see."
The soldiers quickly dragged away Hu Dahu's body. The darkness made it easy to hide, and even a pool of blood on the ground was concealed in the shadows.
Lou Fengju released his grip, glanced at the empty courtyard, and said coldly, "It's impossible that he was alone. There must be other accomplices. He shouldn't have gone far. Go after him."
At a command, several soldiers chased after the enemy in all directions.
Lou Fengju patted the head of his little sister in his arms and said gently, "Mao Mao, it's alright. Brother will take you home."
"OK."
Mao Mao sat obediently in his lap, her little hands wrapped around his neck, and said affectionately, "Brother, I missed you so much."
Lou Fengju's heart melted as he tightly embraced his sister, whom he had lost and found again: "Brother missed you too. Mao Mao, I'm sorry."
"Brother, why are you apologizing?"
"Because your brother didn't protect you."
"hold head high?"
Mao Mao looked up at him blankly, her little face full of confusion: "But we're not together."
Lou Fengju patted her fluffy little head without explaining.
As the eldest brother, he has an innate responsibility to protect his younger siblings. If any of them were to meet with misfortune, it would be partly due to his negligence. This is his responsibility; it's just that he is not strong enough yet.
Lou Fengju touched her little face, then her little belly, and said gently, "It's been so long, you must be starving. I'll take you to eat... hmm?"
Feeling that something was off, he touched it again suspiciously.
His little belly was round and bulging, as if he wasn't hungry.
Mao Mao's eyes sparkled: "Brother, what do you want to eat?"
Lou Fengju immediately put his doubts aside and said indulgently, "Eat whatever you want. If you want a Manchu Han Imperial Feast, I'll go and dig the cook out of the bed."
"Mao Mao wants meat!" Mao Mao said happily.
I ate a lot tonight, but I didn't eat any meat.
Even though my tummy is already full, there's still room for another little bit of extra fat!
Lou Fengju replied, "Okay, let's eat meat."
"Want some cake?"
"eat."
"Mao Mao wants to eat ice cream again."
"Eat it all, eat it all."
Mao Mao listened with great interest and couldn't wait: "Brother, let's go home for dinner!"
Lou Fengju carried her to the car.
The back window of the car next to them rolled down, and the person inside greeted them gently, "Miss Lou."
Mao Mao peeked her little head out from behind her brother's shoulder and looked at the middle-aged man in a long robe inside the car.
She tilted her head and recognized him: "Uncle, what are you doing here?"
Nie Zhengyun looked at her with a smile: "Little girl, do you still remember me?"
“I remember,” Mao Mao said obediently, “You bought my brother’s painting.”
Lou Fengju nodded and said, "Mr. Nie, thank you for your help today. I will personally visit you another day to express my gratitude."
Nie Zhengyun had extensive connections in Haicheng and was fully aware of the city's underworld activities. It was also his men who were the first to learn about Scarface and his group's recent movements in Haicheng. Where there's activity, there's a trace; that's why they were able to find this place so quickly.
"It was nothing, Young Marshal, you're too kind." Nie Zhengyun leaned back in his car seat with a relaxed posture and smiled slightly. "A word of thanks from Miss Lou is enough."
Mao Mao looked at him with a puzzled expression.
Lou Fengju bowed his head and explained to her, "Mr. Nie was a great help in making it possible for me to come to you today."
Mao Mao suddenly realized and gave the man in the back seat a big, sweet smile: "Uncle, thank you, you're such a good person."
Nie Zhengyun chuckled softly.
The first time someone said he was a good person, he was still a three-year-old child.
He replied gently, "You're welcome."
He sighed softly again and said regretfully, "The young marshal's sister is so cute."
Lou Fengju's eyelids twitched, and he glanced at him suspiciously. Before he could figure out what was going on, his sixth sense told him to turn around and hug his sister.
"Mr. Nie, my father is still waiting for my sister to come home, so I'll take my leave now."
"Young Marshal, please take care."
Nie Zhengyun remained seated in the back seat and did not ask the driver to start the car.
He watched Lou Fengju leave, and saw the young marshal Lou carry the little girl into the back seat and close the car door.
But a soft little face popped out from behind the car window. Mao Mao was perched by the window, waving her little hand happily in his direction, as if saying goodbye.
She disappeared from sight only after the car had driven far away.
Nie Zhengyun glanced at the courtyard. The soldiers went in to search and came out with another captured hostage.
He indifferently withdrew his gaze, the rising car window shutting out the noisy crying outside.
"drive."
