Chapter 27 Theater Horror

Chapter 27 Theater Horror

After arriving at the Lou family home, Old Madam Lou never left the house.

She stayed in her room, where only a little girl would often knock on the door, occasionally carrying a bag of snacks.

When Mao Mao doesn't come to play with the big white cat, she stays alone in the room, lying on the rocking chair on the balcony, basking in the sun, listening to the little girl and her grandchildren playing on the lawn downstairs, their laughter drifting over.

The house was quiet, but no matter when, it seemed as if you could hear the little girl's innocent and childlike voice.

A few days after arriving at the Lou family home, the eldest wife invited the old lady to go out to see a play.

"You must have heard of Xiao Fengxian's name. She's a very famous person," the First Madam said with a smile. "Recently, she's been touring Haicheng, and the theaters are packed every day. You can't even get a ticket. I asked someone to reserve a few for me."

The old lady didn't have many hobbies, but watching plays was one of them.

Back in her hometown, she used to go to the theater to listen to operas; she was a regular.

Upon hearing what the First Madam said, she was indeed tempted: "Little Phoenix Fairy? Then let's go."

The first wife bought several tickets; each of them received one, leaving three tickets remaining.

The concubines were all trying to avoid the old lady, pushing and shoving each other around, but Mao Mao, upon hearing that they were going to see a play, eagerly raised her little hand: "Me, I want to go!"

She was going, so Xia Xiaoxiang had no choice but to follow.

Then, they pulled in Lou Hongjian, who was a lazy bum at home, making a total of five people.

When accompanying Madam Lou out, Lou Hongjian hesitated for a long time before finally choosing the most understated suit from his wardrobe. He didn't even style his hair or wear any sparkly accessories, striving to remain inconspicuous.

Despite this, she still received a critical snort from Old Madam Lou.

Before leaving the house, the big white cat rubbed against Mao Mao's legs vigorously, meowing incessantly.

"No, I can't take you." Mao Mao pushed its big head away: "Kitty, you have to stay at home obediently."

Meow~~~

Mao Mao whispered in its ear, "You stay home obediently, I'll bring you something delicious when I come back."

Meow~

Old Madam Lou's eyelids twitched as she listened to the whole thing, but in the end she didn't say anything.

Lou Hongjian drove the family car, and he held the steering wheel, working diligently as a driver.

I dared not drive too fast, for fear of swaying the old lady.

Mao Mao pressed her face against the car window, revealing a pair of round, dark eyes that darted around curiously. She led the way, introducing the old lady to the cinema: "Grandma, this is the movie theater."

"Grandma, this is a restaurant. They have cream cakes inside. They're so delicious."

"Grandma, they sell pretty clothes over there."

"Grandma, my mother and I came here before..."

Inside the carriage, Mao Mao's childish voice echoed.

Lou Hongjian was driving, listening intently to her calling her "Grandma" this and "Grandma" that, and a feeling of admiration welled up within him.

As expected of Mao Mao, she didn't even notice the old lady's long face!

Lou Hongjian was terrified the whole way, and even when the car arrived near the theater, Old Madam Lou did not react.

Posters for Xiao Fengxian's performances were hanging at the theater entrance, and the area was packed with people coming to see her. Enthusiastic fans had completely blocked a short stretch of road in front of the theater.

The car couldn't make it through, leaving only a short distance, so everyone had to walk.

Mao Mao stretched out her hands and was lifted off the toy car by her mother, landing on the ground with a "thud".

As soon as she steadied herself, she ran forward, her little tuft of hair bobbing: "Grandma, let me help you!"

Xia Xiaoxiang rolled her eyes from behind: Her own mother is still here!

Mao Mao remembered her mother's words that everyone should respect their grandmother, and with her short legs, she rushed forward to help her grandmother.

But she's small and short, what can she support? Even standing on tiptoe, she can only act as a crutch.

A chubby little hand tried to be squeezed into her own. Old Madam Lou glanced down at the little dumpling beside her, not wanting to cause a scene, she could only hold it.

After taking only a couple of steps, the little baby beside her started panting heavily: "Grandma, slow down, I can't keep up!"

Old Madam Lou: "..."

Who is leading whom?

Despite thinking this to herself, she still slowed down.

A great show is about to begin in the theater. Ticket holders are entering one after another, while those who didn't get tickets are reluctant to leave, craning their necks to try and catch a glimpse of the excitement.

There are many people here, and many vendors have set up their stalls in front of the theater.

Passing by a stall selling braised tofu, Mao Mao couldn't resist looking at it and tilted her head up longingly, saying, "Grandma, Mao Mao wants to eat some."

Old Madam Lou: "..."

Why does this little one have so many demands?

There was nothing I could do; she had called me "Grandma" so many times.

Lou Hongjian, being sensible, stepped forward and bought a large bag of snacks, along with several other treats, which he then distributed to everyone.

"Perfect, I'll buy more so we can have some snacks while watching the show."

The first wife took five tickets out of her handbag and handed them to the staff at the theater entrance.

Perhaps the theater owner sold too many tickets, because there was a huge crowd outside the theater, and you had to queue to get in. Looking inside from the entrance, the theater was even more packed with people.

Lou Hongjian was immediately bewildered: "This theater has never held so many people before. Did they even sell tickets for the aisles at half price?"

"Xiao Fengxian is so famous that even the walk-in tickets are in short supply!"

"Make way, make way, don't push, there's an old lady here!"

The group squeezed into the theater with the flow of people. The first wife looked at her ticket stub and said, "Let's go upstairs. I bought a box seat ticket."

"Wait, wait!"

Mao Mao yelled, "Someone stepped on my shoe and knocked it off!"

Mao Mao stopped to put on her shoes, and when she stopped, Old Madam Lou, who was being led by the hand, also had to stop.

Just as Madam Lou regained her footing, her vision blurred, something brushed past her nose and fell, and a loud "bang" came from in front of her, as something crashed heavily to the ground.

This startled Old Madam Lou: "What?!"

Startled, she looked down and saw a brass telescope lying in front of her. It belonged to an audience member sitting far away. It had landed so close, almost touching her toes.

On the second floor, near the railing, a theatergoer called out apologetically, "Sorry! I didn't hold on properly. Are you all alright?!"

Old Madam Lou's eyes widened as she looked down at the binoculars in front of her, too frightened to speak.

It was only after the guests upstairs asked that the others realized something was wrong. Lou Hongjian hurried forward and saw a telescope in front of his grandmother, which nearly scared him out of his wits.

He was furious and yelled upstairs, "What's wrong with you?! You can't even hold things properly? You almost hit someone!"

If Madam Lou had taken one more step forward, the telescope would have hit her!

The telescope was quite heavy, and it fell from a great height. If it had hit him, it would have definitely given him a head injury!

The audience upstairs repeatedly apologized: "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry! It's all my fault!"

He shrank back and hurried downstairs, wanting to apologize in person.

Xia Xiaoxiang picked up the binoculars from the ground, put her hands on her hips, and was ready to confront him.

Lou Hongjian and his wife were both angry and anxious. Forget about cursing, they quickly surrounded Old Madam Lou and nervously checked her body, fearing that she might have been accidentally hit somewhere.

"Grandma/Mom, are you alright? Are you hurt anywhere?"

Still shaken, Old Madam Lou could only vaguely reply, "I...I'm alright."

"I...I dodged it."

She took a deep breath, as if infusing her stiff body with new life force, and came to her senses, quickly taking several steps back.

She was just a hair's breadth away from meeting the King of Hell in the underworld!

Thankfully, she stopped in time!

Old Madam Lou gasped in fear, her face pale with fright. The scene from earlier kept replaying in her mind, and the binoculars kept falling to the ground.

Just a hair's breadth away! Thankfully...

Mao Mao put on her shoes and straightened up again.

"Huh? What happened?"
