Chapter 53 Mao Mao Dancing
Despite the unexpected incident, the banquet must continue.
The hall where the accident occurred has been temporarily sealed off, preventing people from entering or leaving. Fortunately, the banquet venue has been moved to the garden outside.
A banquet cannot be without a host, so after the initial shock, the Zhang family went to the garden to continue entertaining their guests. Zhang's father wiped the sweat from his brow with a handkerchief; he was drenched in cold sweat. When a guest asked him questions, he just laughed it off.
No one knew what terrible thing had just happened in the villa next door, just a wall away.
Mao Mao, who had made a great contribution, climbed down from her fourth brother's wheelchair and looked at the lingering glow of the fireworks in the sky, her eyes sparkling.
"Beautiful!" She clapped her hands happily. "Flowers, so pretty!"
A Western orchestra played in a corner of the garden, and the melodious music flowed through the garden at night. After the romantic fireworks ended, young men and women held hands and began to dance to the enchanting music.
Lou Hongjian approached his younger sister, bowed politely, and extended his hand to Mao Mao, his peach blossom eyes crinkling with a smile: "My lovely little princess, may I have the honor of inviting you to dance?"
Mao Mao pursed her lips, but couldn't help it. She grinned and placed her little hand in his palm.
"Sure!"
The Lou family watched as the two of them stepped onto the dance floor. Among the couples, the pair of one big and one small looked out of place.
Mao Mao was led by Lou Hongjian, and she showed no further unusual behavior until she clumsily started dancing.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
“Mao Mao has gone dancing, so let’s go too.” The First Madam said with a smile, “It’s still early, we can’t waste time like this.”
"I can't jump anymore." The third concubine exhaled. "That scared me to death. I need to calm down."
The first wife smiled and looked at her sons: "And you?"
Lou Feng reached out and helped her younger brother into his wheelchair: "I'll stay here with Asui."
Lou Heming: "..."
First wife: "Crane's Cry?"
Lou Heming adjusted his glasses and said helplessly, "Mom, I guess I won't need to."
"Why not use it?" The first wife looked at him disapprovingly: "There are many young girls here today, none of whom are married yet. Go find them and dance. Don't waste this good opportunity."
Lou Heming looked around and made a quick decision: "I saw a friend over there... I'll go find him."
The first wife felt helpless as she watched him flee as he quickly walked away.
Turning her head, she saw that her eldest son had already pushed her fourth son's wheelchair away quickly, walking quite a distance away, clearly not wanting to hear her nagging again.
The first wife sighed: "I just want them to dance and talk with girls, why are you so afraid? It's not like we're arranging marriages and forcing them into bridal sedan chairs."
Madam Lou said, "Children and grandchildren have their own blessings. They are all grown up and have their own ideas, so you don't need to worry too much."
The first wife couldn't help but glance at the old lady a few more times.
These words, coming from the mouth of the traditionally feudal and rigid Old Madam Lou, sounded utterly out of place.
Just a few days ago, Madam Lou didn't think this way.
However… when the First Madam looked at the newly made dark green satin cheongsam dress worn by Old Madam Lou, with a bright jade necklace around her neck and her hair braided into a bun, she looked dignified and elegant. She was no longer the conservative woman she once was.
Since Mao Mao arrived, the old lady has not only changed her clothes and appearance, but also become much more open-minded.
"How do you dance this?" Old Madam Lou looked at her grandchildren dancing not far away. She watched as Mao Mao stretched out her short legs, clumsily taking a step forward and a step back, occasionally raising her little hands and spinning in place, sometimes accidentally leaving a small footprint on her brother's expensive leather shoes.
Old Madam Lou frowned as she watched: "Is it that difficult? She's been studying for several days, how come she still hasn't learned it?"
The first wife smiled and asked, "Mom, would you like to dance?"
Old Madam Lou: "Me?."
First wife: "It's very simple, I'll teach you."
Old Madam Lou shook her head, her face full of refusal: "No, at my age, what would it look like if I jumped up?"
After a while, Mao Mao and her third brother finished dancing to a song and came running over, panting heavily.
"Grandma, dance!"
Mao Mao grabbed the old lady's hand and pulled her towards the dance floor: "Grandma, I'll teach you!"
Old Madam Lou: "..."
Old Madam Lou's lips moved, but before she could utter a word of refusal, she had already been pulled onto the dance floor. The little girl opposite her raised both hands, striking a pose in a very professional manner, her small hands clasping in the air, her round face looking at her expectantly.
Old Madam Lou: "..."
It's just dancing, what's so difficult about it? She's been watching for so long, she's already learned it.
With a serious expression, Old Madam Lou took the little girl's hand and started kicking her foot, one step forward, one step back, one clatter, two clatters.
I don't know if I really learned it from watching, but I actually followed Mao Mao's dance steps and started dancing quite well.
The unusual pairing of the elderly and the young has attracted the attention of countless people.
Lou Hongjian met up with his three brothers at the other end of the garden. He held a glass of champagne and looked amusedly at the grandmother and granddaughter dancing in the middle of the room. He turned to his brothers and said, "Who would have thought that Grandma would dance this kind of ballroom dance?"
"With Mao Mao around, anything is possible."
"Big brother, second brother, aren't you going to dance?"
Lou Heming smiled bitterly: "Spare me, I just finished an operation during the day, I really don't have the strength."
"If you guys aren't going to jump, then I will."
Lou Hongjian unbuttoned two buttons on his collar, revealing a small patch of his muscular chest. He downed the champagne in his glass in one gulp, casually placed the glass on the table next to him, and walked toward a young and beautiful heiress with a dashing air.
From afar, I saw him chatting with someone, and after a few words, he led the young lady into the dance floor.
Lou Heming shook his head helplessly: "He's like this again. Isn't he afraid of attracting too many suitors? One day he'll play with fire and get burned."
“It’s just dancing, not dating. Although he’s a scoundrel, he knows his limits.” Lou Fengju took a sip of red wine, looked into the distance, and soon his gaze stopped on someone. He said, “I saw Mr. Yang from the bank. I’m going to entertain him.”
Lou Heming casually asked, "A bank?"
“The Military and Political Affairs Department is short of funds recently. Many places need money, but these businessmen are stingy and unwilling to spend a single penny. We have to find a way to squeeze money out of their pockets.”
After saying that, Lou Fengju strode off in a certain direction.
Lou Heming shrugged and decided to continue watching Mao Mao dance in the distance with his fourth brother.
Mao Mao was already dancing wildly, and her dance partner changed from the old lady to Xia Xiaoxiang. The little dumpling was extremely excited, and her limbs began to move uncontrollably, forming their own rhythm. Although Xia Xiaoxiang wasn't good at dancing either, the mother and daughter were strangely in sync, finding a harmonious frequency. Holding hands, they even managed to step to the beat of the music.
Just watching the little dumpling dance makes me feel great.
"Ah Sui?"
A tentative voice came from the side.
Lou Yansui, who had been watching her younger sister dance with great interest, suddenly froze.
He didn't turn around, but his hand was already on the wheelchair wheel. Before he could exert any force, the person who had spoken had already walked over quickly.
The wheelchair was no match for two legs; in just a few steps, he was already standing in front of Lou Yansui.
Upon seeing Lou Yansui, a look of obvious surprise appeared on his face: "A-Sui, it really is you!"
With nowhere to hide, Lou Yansui quickly lowered her eyes, her body under her dress suddenly tensing up, her shoulders and neck stiffening into a straight line.
