Tang Chunya originally wanted to use Wang Shi to teach Xu Lanzhi a lesson, but she didn't expect Wang Shi to have the same attitude.

She felt that things were different at home now. Before, Xu Lanzhi never dared to raise her voice to her, her mother never scolded her for Xu Lanzhi's sake, and even those little girls didn't take her seriously.

Tang Chunya sensed something was wrong, but she didn't know the reason for this change.

However, she felt extremely wronged. She couldn't get along with her husband's family, and her mother-in-law was always domineering. Now, she had no status in her own family either.

Her eyes reddened as she said, "Okay, okay, I'll leave now. I won't stay here and get in your way!"

Suddenly remembering something, Wang said with half-closed eyes, "What are you going back for so early in the morning? Lanzhi, have Zhaodi and Yindi make breakfast. Just some plain millet porridge. It's rare for your three older sisters to be here. After breakfast, have them go and plant the corn and wheat!"

Tang Chunya thought her mother had thought things through and that's why she was trying to keep her. But when she heard the last sentence, she realized that her mother wanted her to stay and do hard labor. She was so angry that she couldn't say a word.

Tang Qiumei quickly said, "Lanzhi hasn't finished her postpartum confinement yet. I'll go and take Zhaodi and the others to cook."

Tang Xiahe burst out laughing when she saw Tang Chunya's embarrassed expression: "Mother, you are truly wise and powerful!"

Wang glared at Tang Xiahe and said seriously, "Don't cause trouble. Come over here and give me a shoulder massage. That prison is no place for a human being. My bones are about to fall apart."

Before long, the whole family finished breakfast. Wang took out the wheat seeds and the corn seeds he had traded for. He could clearly feel that the bag containing the seeds had become heavier, and the weight was obviously much greater.

Upon opening it, the wheat seeds were the same as before, but there were many more of them. However, the corn seeds were completely different from the ones he had exchanged for. The corn kernels were all uniform and plump, golden yellow, and gleaming in the sunlight.

Wang looked at Xu Lanzhi with a questioning gaze: "Have you touched this seed?"

Xu Lanzhi was also quite surprised. She shook her head and looked at her youngest daughter in her arms. Wang seemed to understand her meaning and did not ask any further questions.

Tang Chunya was so surprised her jaw almost dropped: "Mom, where did you get these seeds? These corn kernels are so big, they're like they've come to life!"

I see you have a lot of wheat and corn seeds; could you spare some for me?

"Didn't I send you the wheat seeds?" Wang asked, somewhat annoyed.

Tang Chunya said dismissively, "My mother-in-law said wheat is a rare commodity, so she ground it into flour and made steamed buns for Shuanzi and his father. You know my mother-in-law, I can't stop her!"

Wang was furious and started yelling, "How could I have given birth to such a good-for-nothing daughter? You're so arrogant here, but so cowardly at your husband's house. Don't even think about my seeds; they'll just be ruined by your mother-in-law if you take them back!"

"Mom, you don't give me any benefits and you want me to be a free laborer. Let your daughter-in-law do the planting for you. I'm going back!" Tang Chunya said angrily and went back home.

Wang was so angry that she beat her chest and stamped her feet. She asked her two younger daughters, "I have nothing to offer you. If you're leaving, you can come with me!"

Tang Xiahe quickly tried to soothe Wang Shi, saying, "Oh dear, why are you arguing with your eldest sister? While it's still early, let's take the carpet and get to work!"

After saying that, he and Qiu Mei took the seeds and hoes, and led Zhao Di, Yin Di and Jie Di to the field.

After searching for a while, Wang also brought Sidi, Niandi, and Pandi along, as they would be useful for planting seeds later.

Xu Lanzhi felt embarrassed to stay at home doing nothing, so she begged Wang Shi to stay home and look after Qiqi while she went to farm.

Wang said impatiently, "Don't cause me any more trouble. Now that the cow is gone, you should make some rice porridge for Qiqi!"

As expected, there is strength in numbers. Although it was all women, the Tang family finished planting their land in just half a day.

There were still quite a few corn and wheat seeds left. I asked Tang Xiahe and Tang Qiumei, "Did you plant the wheat seeds I gave you? Did you eat them like your older sister did?"

The two quickly replied, "No way, Mother! We're worried about not having enough seeds right now, so we started planting early this morning."

Wang nodded in satisfaction and said, "That's good. You two come with me to the vegetable garden and plant the vegetable and radish seeds I bought. You can take the remaining corn and wheat seeds back with you!"

Tang Xiahe said, "Mother, Qiu Mei and I will grind the remaining corn and wheat into flour for her later. You can keep it for yourselves; there's a whole family here!"

Tang Qiumei chimed in, "That's right, Mother! Hehe, we have some left at home, although it's not as good as this, we still have some!"

Wang interrupted them, saying, "Alright, do you think I'm giving this away for free? Don't you have a lot of labor in your family? If there's a good harvest, just pay me back double. And if there's any left over, send some to your eldest sister too!"

Tang Xiahe scolded, "Mother, can't you just talk properly? You clearly care about Eldest Sister and us, but you have to act like we're enemies."

Wang said somewhat awkwardly, "Why are you talking so much nonsense? You two sisters go plant vegetables, I'll take the children and go back first!"

Tang Xiahe said to Qiu Mei with a smile, "Look at this old lady, she's just like a child!"

So, while most families in Tangjiagou were still worried about seeds, the Wang family was the first to complete spring plowing.

As she gazed at the red earth stretching to the horizon, images of rolling wheat fields already appeared in her mind.

She prayed silently that this year must be a good year; otherwise, it would be either a natural disaster or a man-made one, and people really couldn't take it anymore.

She picked up a fallen corn kernel, rubbed it gently in her palm for a while, and thought to herself, "These characters must have been brought from the Heavenly Palace by Qiqi. Perhaps my Qiqi is the reincarnation of the Seven Fairies."

The more she thought about it, the more she felt that Xu Lanzhi had given birth to six daughters in a row just to wait for the seventh day of the seventh month; otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence?

"Having a fairy-like granddaughter is not bad even if I don't have a grandson," Wang comforted herself.

She carefully buried the kernel of corn in the soil, dusted herself off, and hurried home.

She had to go see her little granddaughter, Qiqi; without the cow, the child's life would be difficult from now on.

Little did she know, everything was part of Tang Qiqi's plan.
