Chapter 216 utterly vulnerable

On a dark and windy night, when murder and arson were imminent, nearly 10,000 of Lan Yu's remaining troops were already sharpening their knives, waiting for that exciting signal to be sent. They would then emerge from all directions and surge towards the palace of the Lord of Lanling City to reclaim their lost glory.

Tang 77 was uneasy, not because she lacked confidence in Lan Yu, but because she had never truly experienced war.

Lan Yu pulled her to his side and asked, "Are you scared?"

Tang 77 nodded honestly, then said, "Isn't it time?"

Lan Yu said, "Now!" After saying that, he wrapped his arms around her waist and used his unparalleled lightness skill to reach the sentry tower of the elite cavalry camp in no time.

Before the tower guard could react, Lan Yu killed him with a single palm strike.

He looked down at Tang 77 and said, "This is the highest point of the Valiant Cavalry Camp, and the armory is over there."

Lan Yu needed to appear on time at the start of the operation to boost the morale of the soldiers. If they lingered too long in the armory of the elite cavalry, they might alert the enemy. Tang 771 insisted that Li Fei bring him, but Lan Yu was unwilling to entrust Tang 771 to anyone else, so he came by himself.

By this time, the patrolling soldiers had been dealt with by Lan Yu's men. Upon seeing the signal, Lan Yu put his arm around Tang 77 and headed towards the armory.

Tang 77 muttered, "Everyone said to have Li Fei bring me, but you wouldn't listen. You're really wasting your talents!"

Upon arrival, everything in the warehouse vanished in a matter of moments.

Lan Yu was speechless for a moment. Tang 77 pulled the absent-minded Lan Yu up and said playfully, "Brother Lan Yu, can you take me for a walk around this camp without me saying a word?"

Lan Yu raised an eyebrow: "What kind of crazy idea have you come up with this time?"

"Surprise!" Tang 77 exclaimed mysteriously!

Lan Yu readily agreed. Over the next few days, he discovered that Tang 77 was a very opinionated and thoughtful person who knew the bigger picture and how to conduct herself. At such an important moment, she certainly wouldn't just be playing around.

Lan Yu tightened her grip on Tang 77's waist. The two, dressed in black tight-fitting clothes, circled once outside the soldiers' resting barracks before disappearing without a sound.

Lan Yu handed Tang 77 to Li Fei and said with utmost seriousness, "77, Li Fei will take you back to the base. You are not allowed to go out to play without my permission!"

Then he said to Li Fei, "If even one hair of yours is missing, I won't let you off the hook!"

Watching Fei Lanyu leave with murderous intent inside the armor, Tang 77 felt inexplicably sad and afraid. He realized that sending others to the battlefield was such an agonizing experience.

Tang 77 sat in the courtyard and watched the purple fireworks rise into the sky. Her heart tightened, and she murmured to herself, "It's starting!"

Lan Yu took the lead and rushed to the palace wall with his men, shouting, "Lan Yu, the Lord of Lanling City, is cleaning up his own house! Qin Xiao, come out and face your death!"

The soldiers guarding the palace gate were terrified. Lan Yu's title of "Jade-Faced Rakshasa" was well-deserved; she was a figure who struck fear into the hearts of the enemy. They stumbled and staggered off to inform Qin Xiao, who was indulging in revelry in the Mingzheng Hall.

Lan Yu is such a contradictory figure. To his enemies, he is a ruthless and bloodthirsty devil; to his people, he is a benevolent ruler who cares about them and puts them first.

Before the palace alarm bells could sound, Lan Yu shot and killed the general guarding the palace gate with an arrow. A group of agile shadow guards had already leaped onto the wall and killed most of the guards. The palace gates were wide open, and Lan Yu's troops rushed into the palace in a grand procession.

Lan Yu headed straight for the Mingzheng Hall, where Qin Xiao was in a bad mood, his clothes disheveled: "Impossible! I have 100,000 troops stationed outside the city. Lanling City is impregnable. Even if Lan Yu had wings, he couldn't fly in."

"Qin Xiao, I've disappointed you. I'm back here again!" Lan Yu's tone was icy and sharp.

"Protect the Emperor! Protect the Emperor!" Qin Xiao shouted as if he had seen a ghost.

Dozens of fully armed guards, each wielding a spear, blocked Qin Xiao's path.

Lan Yu finished most of the results in no time; he hadn't been idle these past two years.

Seeing that things were going badly, Qin Xiao threw out a poison gas pill, and immediately a pungent smoke filled the air. One after another, Qin Xiao's guards fell down.

Qin Xiao laughed maniacally: "Lan Yu, you will eventually die by my hand!"

Lan Yu kicked Qin Xiao hard, sending him crashing to the ground and making him roll twice.

Qin Xiao's eyes widened in horror as he exclaimed, "Why weren't you poisoned? No one can escape this poison!"

Lan Yu questioned, "Are you willing to risk the lives of your own guards just to save your own?"

"It is their honor to die for the noble city lord. Lan Yu, I will kill you, and Lanling City will be mine, as will the lofty position of city lord!" Qin Xiao said almost maniacally.

Looking at the disheveled and nearly insane Qin Xiao, Lan Yu felt disgusted. He didn't want to say another word. He drew his sword and severed Qin Xiao's tendons in one fell swoop. He said indifferently, "Men, take this filthy thing out and display him to the public. Those who are willing to surrender, detain them for now. Those who are stubborn and resist, kill them without mercy!"

Qin Xiao was dragged out. Lan Yu stood in the Mingzheng Hall, overwhelmed with mixed feelings. He was just a hair's breadth away from giving up.

This time, he will not hold back; he will trample all those who have plotted against him under his feet.
