Chapter 123 First Encounter

Since the Emperor of Hell had agreed to help, the matter was quite easy to resolve—he simply arranged a small role for Song Mengmeng in the film crew, thus subtly placing her in the role.

Bai Wei was clearly surprised to see Song Mengmeng, who had suddenly joined the crew.

However, after the unexpected event, there was more joy than anything else.

She wasn't particularly aloof in the crew and got along well with almost all the other crew members; so her excitement at reuniting with Song Mengmeng wasn't as noticeable to others.

"Mengmeng, why don't you live with me!" After reviewing the script, he realized that Song Mengmeng would only be staying on set for about a week, so he suggested to her without much thought, "Anyway, I live alone, and the room is quite big."

“Okay!” Song Mengmeng nodded, having no objection to Bai Wei’s suggestion. From the leaked stills she had seen before, she could tell that the other female lead in the photos with Bai Wei, who was also her target, seemed to be quite interested in Bai Wei.

If her guess was correct, that person must have made Bai Wei their next target!

Therefore, staying by Bai Wei's side is the most suitable choice, both for achieving her goals and for protecting Bai Wei's safety.

Bai Wei took the initiative to suggest it, and Song Mengmeng didn't object, so the staff didn't make things difficult for her and readily arranged Song Mengmeng's life thereafter.

Song Mengmeng's role is a palace maid who follows Bai Wei.

There were about four lines of dialogue, and then the rest was no different from being an extra!

However, Song Mengmeng didn't care much about these things. It was her first time acting, so naturally she was interested in many things here. After changing into her costume and joining the crew, she instantly transformed into Bai Wei's little shadow, the kind that couldn't be shaken off.

Bai Wei was not only not disgusted by Song Mengmeng's dependence, but was actually very happy. When Song Mengmeng was not filming, Bai Wei took the little girl for a tour of the film set.

Firstly, it was to show how much she valued the little girl; secondly, it was also to help the little girl become familiar to the director and the others.

Bai Wei had a perfectly valid reason for this consideration—they were both artists under Dixing Media, and as a senior, it was understandable and acceptable for her to mentor newcomers who had just joined the company, no matter where the situation was.

After following Bai Wei around the film and television area, Song Mengmeng finally met her target – the other leading actress, Su Lingge, who had suddenly become a rising star in the past two years.

Unlike Bai Wei's easygoing nature, Su Lingge appears more aloof and cold.

However, perhaps because of her good relationship with Bai Wei, she stood up to greet Bai Wei when she saw her coming. The interaction between Bai Wei and her seemed simple and natural. At least from an outsider's perspective, the relationship between the two actresses was quite good.

"Is this a newcomer?" Surprisingly, after exchanging pleasantries with Bai Wei, Su Lingge did not rush to leave, but instead turned her gaze to Song Mengmeng, who was standing behind Bai Wei.

Bai Wei was surprised that Su Lingge would take the initiative to ask about Song Mengmeng. She was slightly stunned before she came to her senses and calmly pulled Song Mengmeng over to stand next to her. She smiled and introduced her to Su Lingge: "Song Mengmeng, our newcomer from Dixing. Mengmeng just arrived today. Come and meet Sister Lingge."

"What a cute little girl." Su Lingge stared at Song Mengmeng for a while before turning away with a slight smile.

After Su Lingge left, Bai Wei lowered her head and whispered to Song Mengmeng, "It's okay, Lingge is just like that. She's always been like this with people!"

We don't have any scenes to film today, so let's head back early. I'll treat you to dinner!

Bai Wei was worried that Su Lingge's attitude just now would affect Song Mengmeng's mood, so she subtly found a topic that would interest the girl to divert attention from the current dullness.

"Mmm, mmm." Although Song Mengmeng was responding to Bai Wei's suggestion, her gaze never left Su Lingge, who had just left.

The actual food looks even more appetizing than the photos!

What ordinary people see as a glamorous goddess is now, in her eyes, nothing more than a walking cloud of black mist! The kind that has seeped into her from the inside out!

After obtaining Song Mengmeng's consent, Bai Wei didn't linger. She asked her assistant to inform the director, and then led Song Mengmeng to the parking lot outside the film studio.

"Sister Weiwei, how is your baby?" On the way to the nanny van, Song Mengmeng looked at Bai Wei's shoulder, but did not find the little baby spirit that used to often perch on her shoulder.

"Thankfully, he's been quite well-behaved lately." Bai Wei's expression softened considerably when she mentioned her baby. She lowered her voice and, like any doting parent, shared various amusing anecdotes about her baby with Song Mengmeng.

Song Mengmeng listened attentively until she heard Bai Wei mention that her little infant spirit was hostile towards Su Lingge. Then she interjected, "It's protecting you! Infant spirits are the purest souls in the world. They can keenly sense everyone's emotions. In the future, if an infant spirit dislikes someone, you'd better stay away from them!"

"You mean, Su Lingge, she..." Bai Wei looked at Song Mengmeng in astonishment. She never expected that Su Lingge, who seemed to be just a relatively cold person, would be someone that even infant spirits were wary of!

"Sister Weiwei, you have to believe in your baby!" Song Mengmeng tilted her head, not answering Bai Wei's question directly, but pointing to her shoulder and praising the little guy who had somehow crawled out of his mother's body again and was still yawning, with a smile: "It's amazing!"

Although Song Mengmeng didn't directly answer Bai Wei's question, Bai Wei wasn't stupid; she understood the importance of it just from Song Mengmeng's words. She nodded and thanked Song Mengmeng softly.

It was only this short delay that allowed the assistants to finish their work and arrive.

The group quickly returned to the hotel where the film crew was staying. Since Bai Wei had said she would treat Song Mengmeng to dinner, the two of them quickly tidied up and took the elevator downstairs to go out for food.

As luck would have it, just as they arrived in the lobby, they bumped right into Su Lingge, with whom they had just exchanged photos.
