Alice, through this narration, also realized that something was wrong.
It seems that every time she mentioned wanting to contact the children, her husband would obstruct her. She hadn't thought about it much before, but now, thinking about it carefully, it just doesn't seem right.

Alice stepped forward and blocked her husband's path.
Her eyes still clearly showed the lingering fear and dread from the long period of abuse, but she didn't think of backing down. Instead, she opened her arms and stood in front of him, leaving no room for refusal.

"What are you doing? Isn't the child with your parents?! Are you leaving or not? If you don't leave, I'm leaving!"
William was clearly taken aback by Alice's sudden question. He turned his head away somewhat guiltily, but quickly tried to sound calm before speaking rapidly, which only made his unease more apparent.
Alice immediately understood that her child, no matter what, was definitely not at her parents' house.
Realizing this possibility, Alice disregarded everything else, let out a scream, and lunged at William. The two immediately began to wrestle. Given William's strength, Alice certainly wouldn't have gained the upper hand.
But now, thinking of her child, Alice didn't know where she got the courage and strength, and she just threw William to the ground.
