Alice, through this narration, also realized that something was wrong.
It seems that every time she mentioned wanting to contact the children, her husband would obstruct her. She hadn't thought about it much before, but now, thinking about it carefully, it just doesn't seem right.
"You...you mean...my children, them...they've been hurt?!"
Alice sniffed, looking up at Song Mengmeng and the others in disbelief. Almost instinctively, she reached for her phone to call her parents, but only after taking it out did she realize there was no signal.
Overwhelmed with worry for her child and regret for her own past negligence, Alice could no longer contain herself and collapsed to the ground, bursting into tears.
"No, I have to go ask him!"
Alice cried for a while, then stood up as if she had made up her mind. She wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, turned around and walked towards the stairs. She hadn't taken more than a few steps when she saw her husband carrying the backpack he had brought earlier, with his luggage and a sullen face, walking out.
"William, stop right there! Tell me, where are our children now?!"
Alice stepped forward and blocked her husband's path.
Her eyes still clearly showed the lingering fear and dread from the long period of abuse, but she didn't think of backing down. Instead, she opened her arms and stood in front of him, leaving no room for refusal.
It was only for her child.
"What are you doing? Isn't the child with your parents?! Are you leaving or not? If you don't leave, I'm leaving!"
William was clearly taken aback by Alice's sudden question. He turned his head away somewhat guiltily, but quickly tried to sound calm before speaking rapidly, which only made his unease more apparent.
Alice immediately understood that her child, no matter what, was definitely not at her parents' house.
Realizing this possibility, Alice disregarded everything else, let out a scream, and lunged at William. The two immediately began to wrestle. Given William's strength, Alice certainly wouldn't have gained the upper hand.
But now, thinking of her child, Alice didn't know where she got the courage and strength, and she just threw William to the ground.
In just a few moves, he completely stunned the big man.
Alice grew stronger with each battle, leaving William utterly helpless and forced to beg for mercy.
"I didn't, I had no choice!"
William clutched his head, crying and pleading with Alice, "I borrowed money and can't pay it back. I have no choice but to... I have to use the child to pay off the debt!"
It turns out that William has recently become addicted to drinking and gambling because of his dissatisfaction with his work.
At first, he was able to win quite a bit when he entered that underground casino, but he didn't know that it was all a trick set up by the casino for these new gamblers.
In general, they will give you some initial benefits when you first start.
But once you're in the game, you'll find that you can never win a single penny back from the casino.
The more you lose, the more you want to win back your losses, but winning back your losses requires initial capital.
So William wrote an IOU and borrowed money from the casino at exorbitant interest rates. Then, as the interest snowballed, he realized that he had fallen deeply into this hell from which he could not escape.
When the debt collectors drove him to the brink of despair, they naturally pointed out a way out for him.
That is, he sold his two children to pay off his debts.
The debt collectors didn't tell William what they wanted the children for, but if he didn't sacrifice the two children, he would be the one who ended up having his hands and feet chopped off.
William would never agree to sacrifice himself, so in the end, it was naturally the two children who were sold.
As for what happened to the child in the end, William didn't dare to ask, and actually, there was no need to ask.
He borrowed a lot of money; if it were just simple human trafficking, they definitely wouldn't have given him that much! So…
"You, you actually sold your child?! How could you do that?! How could you do that?!"
Although she had some suspicions, Alice was still completely devastated when those suspicions became reality. Her child, her child, had been sold off by their father like a commodity!
It's sold!
Thinking of this, Alice could no longer restrain herself and raised the porcelain bottle in her hand, smashing it heavily against William's head...
"I'm going to kill you, kill you!"
Alice went berserk, pounding on William's head again and again.
Anna was shocked by Alice's actions. By the time she realized what was happening, William on the ground was already convulsing...
"Let's get ready to leave." Song Mengmeng observed carefully for a while before turning to Yao Anna and saying, "I already know what's going on here."
"Aren't you sisters planning to stay?!" Winnie asked pitifully as she reached out and tugged at Song Mengmeng's sleeve, looking somewhat reluctant to leave.
"None of you have ever played a game with us even once!"
"If we play a game with you even once, we really won't be able to leave!" Song Mengmeng looked down at Winnie, who was looking up at her, and smiled as she reached out to ruffle his hair. "Alright, you know you can't keep us here. Don't waste your energy!"
"You're such a strange person!"
