Chapter 10: Holding the Little Dumpling to Court

In the blink of an eye, it's winter again.

The little one can already say a few simple words. Not only that, but he's also grown taller and heavier!

The winter nights were still just as cold.

Qin Jue held the little dumpling in his arms, looking at the roof, thinking about the scenes of the little dumpling keeping him company on ordinary days.

Qin Jue smiled unconsciously as she thought of the past:

She had tried to get close to her sons before, but every time those boys looked at her, they would either cry loudly in fright or hide in their mother's arms, too scared to look at her.

After a while, I naturally didn't want to get close to him anymore, but I didn't expect that this little dumpling would never be afraid of me.

It seems that keeping this little guy by my side was definitely the right decision.

next day

Qin Jue had to get up at 5:45 AM every day for the morning court session, while this little dumpling slept until almost 9:00 AM every day.

Just as Qin Jue was dressed and preparing to go to court, the little dumpling woke up.

The little dumpling woke up and saw that its father, the Emperor, was awake. It then made unclear "bubbling" sounds.

"Pinch...pinch...bubble"

Qin Jue had been taking care of the child for a year, so he naturally knew what the little dumpling was saying; it was simply "Daddy, hug me."

This little girl wanted me to hold her as soon as she woke up.

What could Qin Jue do? He looked at Xiao Xi'er with doting eyes. He could only spoil his own child. He reached out and picked up the little bundle of joy.

After soothing the little one for a while and seeing that he was no longer sleeping, she asked Chunhe to bring over the little one's clothes, and dressed him herself.

Spring lotus, summer chrysanthemum, Sanhezi (a type of herb), and the palace maids and eunuchs of the Hall of Mental Cultivation—they were all used to it.

The little princess is very favored; His Majesty personally feeds her, dresses her, and bathes her every day.

His Majesty never lets the little princess out of his sight, and even lets her hold and toss the memorials presented by his ministers.

Qin Jue dressed the little dumpling in a lotus root-colored dress, making her little face look like a white and chubby glutinous rice ball.

After watching His Majesty dress the little princess, Xia Ju wisely brought over the little princess's usual goat milk.

Sanhezi looked at the time; it was almost 3:45 AM.

But watching Qin Jue slowly feeding the little princess goat milk, wiping her mouth after each spoonful, was unsettling.

Sanhezi couldn't help but remind

"Your Majesty, it's almost time for court at 3:45 AM. If we don't leave now, we'll be late. All the ministers are still waiting in the Golden Palace."

Qin Jue didn't even look up, continuing what he was doing.

"Will they lose a piece of meat if they wait a while? Can't you see I'm feeding the little princess?"

"If the little princess gets hungry, who will take responsibility? You?"

"You sycophant!"

Sanhezi inwardly cursed herself, thinking she shouldn't have spoken up. No one was more important than the little princess; let those ministers wait and see.

But when Sanhezi saw that there was still half a bowl of goat milk left to feed the child, he became anxious.

Sanhezi was so anxious he was practically spinning around, while His Majesty was still slowly breastfeeding the little princess, perfectly illustrating the saying, "The emperor isn't worried, but the eunuch is."

Golden Palace

It seems that not only the eunuchs are anxious, but the ministers are too.

Why hasn't His Majesty arrived yet?

"Are you not going to court today?"

"Has His Majesty forgotten to sleep? Why hasn't the Third Eunuch come to say whether or not there will be court?"

The ministers spoke one after another.

"Old dog Tang, which official are you planning to impeach today?"

Tang Dai snorted, turned his head away, and faced the back of his head towards Fang Li, the Minister of Rites.

"Hey, Tang Laogou... no, no, Tang Dai, tell me, who's really who between us?"

"I don't know you."

"That's not funny, Zhao Feng, Zhao Feng, over here!" Fang Li called out to Zhao Feng as he turned around.

"Fang Li, why aren't you calling Zhao Feng 'Little Dog Zhao' anymore?" Tang Dai glared at Fang Li angrily.

"As the Minister of Rites, how could I utter such vulgar words?"

Zhao Feng came over when he heard the two adults calling him.

"Do you two gentlemen have something to discuss with the junior?"

Tang Dai and Fang Li are already thirty years old and entered officialdom early, while Zhao Feng only entered officialdom last year and is only 19 this year. He's not a junior at all.

"You, Fang Li, call him Zhao Feng and me Tang the Old Dog. As the Minister of Rites, you show no respect for etiquette. I'll definitely impeach you before His Majesty later!!"

After saying this, Tang Dai walked towards the other officials.

"It's nothing, it's nothing. I was just thinking of inviting you over for a chat, but that old dog Donald left."

"I'm going to find him."

"Oh, Tang Dynasty, don't go! Tang Dynasty, Tang Dynasty, please don't impeach me! It can't be that bad!"

Fang Li called out to Tang Dai's retreating figure, but Tang Dai ignored him. Fang Li could only chase after Tang Dai.

"His Majesty has arrived! Princess Leyang has arrived!"

"Your Majesty, we pay our respects! Long live Your Majesty!"

Greetings to Princess Leyang, may the princess live a thousand years!

"Get up, everyone."

The little bundle in Qin Jue's arms, seeing the many people below, clapped and laughed, babbling "Yin... Yin" incoherently.

Qin Jue naturally knew that the little dumpling among the flowers was talking about "people," and the little dumpling not only spoke but also opened its little mouth and smiled.

The ministers below looked at the smiling little dumpling, which resembled a lucky baby from a New Year's painting.

Her rosy pink outfit made her little face look even more rosy.

Qin Jue walked and talked, holding the little dumpling as he sat on his dragon throne.

The ministers below looked at each other in bewilderment as His Majesty carried the princess onto the dragon throne.

Fang Li looked at Tang Dai as if to say, "Go and remind His Majesty that no one but His Majesty can be allowed to sit on the dragon throne."

The Tang Dynasty remained unmoved, and Fangli had to rely on its own efforts.
