Chapter 8 The Real Culprit 2

When Consort Hui saw Consort Shu arrive, she revealed a triumphant smile.

Why did Consort Shu have to come now of all times? Now look what's happened! His Majesty should drag her away and behead her!

It wasn't for nothing that I poisoned her and framed her; now I've eliminated two formidable rivals, and I can even advance to the rank of concubine.

Qin Jingmu and Qin Jingtai watched as the adorable little dumpling gnawed on his father's finger.

My heart aches for this little dumpling who has just lost his mother.

My little sister is really going to lose her head now. Poor me, the second brother, I haven't even had a proper look at her yet!

This little sister is really brave, even braver than me, her third brother! Although I climb trees to steal bird nests and go down to the river to catch fish...

Sometimes he would play pranks on the palace servants, at most he would get a few lashes from his father.

This little sister is biting her father's hand right there! That's a recipe for disaster!

The two brothers were both thinking about how Xiao Xi'er was about to die.

When Consort Shu saw her two sons kneeling on the ground, she felt a pang of panic.

No way? These two brats have really angered His Majesty. Now His Majesty is even going to drag his own sons out and behead them.

Now she panicked. No, this was her own son, the one she gave birth to with intellectual disabilities.

"Your Majesty, these two brats have angered you. If Your Majesty wishes to behead, then let me behead you instead."

Qin Jue didn't let his two foolish sons off the hook because of his words; he would just have to work even harder.

"Your Majesty, the mistake was..." Your concubine

Qin Jue's head was about to explode from hearing Consort Shu's loud voice.

"Shut up, or I'll drag you out and behead you if you utter another sound."

"What are you all doing? Drag him away!"

After giving his instructions, Qin Jue looked again at the little bundle in his arms, who was still sucking on his fingers.

"I'll go right away."

Upon hearing the reprimand, the entering guard quickened his pace, just in case he had another head to lose.

Consort Hui couldn't help but smile as the guards drew closer and closer.

Consort Shu, you've finally met your end. After you die, I'll take your two sons and raise them. That way, I'll have two sons and a daughter, and I won't have to worry about His Majesty not coming to my palace.

But then he couldn't laugh anymore.

"Hey, what are you doing? Let me go, you bunch of lackeys!"

"Let me go, do you hear me? I am Consort Hui! You've arrested the wrong person! You're after Consort Shu!"

"It was Consort Shu who poisoned the Empress and the little princess. The poison is still under the locust tree in her palace. Why are you arresting me instead of Consort Shu?"

When Consort Shu heard this, her mouth was so wide open that an egg could fit in it.

No wonder his two sons came to the Hall of Mental Cultivation; they must have accidentally witnessed something, realized he wasn't the one who poisoned them, and came to explain on his behalf.

Consort Hui wanted to take the young princess to live with her, but instead left herself here.

"Release me, do you hear me? Or I'll chop off your heads!"

"Your Highness Consort Hui, only His Majesty can behead me. I'm afraid Your Highness cannot do that to me, and besides, you are the one I've arrested."

The guard answered expressionlessly.

"Your Majesty, Your Majesty, these treacherous servants have arrested the wrong person!"

Qin Jue laughed when he heard Consort Hui's uninvited confession.

"When did I ever say that the poison was found under the locust tree in Consort Shu's palace? Only I and the two princes who accidentally witnessed the poison being found in Consort Shu's palace know that it was discovered there."

"And how did you know that?" The question was already tinged with anger.

"What? You don't remember what you did? Do I have to help you recall it?"

"You poisoned the Empress and the little princess, placing the poison under the locust tree in Consort Shu's palace, and then killed the servants who did it for you."

"You think you didn't know that after the Empress passed away, you adopted a little princess so that I would come to your palace?"

"You really think you can get away with this?" Each sentence was sterner than the last, until this last one was utterly filled with rage.

Qin Jue, not wanting to hear Consort Hui's annoying voice any longer, raised his hand to signal...

The guards covered Consort Hui's mouth and dragged her away.

"It's filthy, and you're still eating it? Don't you know your hands are covered in dust?"

The two little rascals were relieved to hear that it wasn't about killing their little sister. It would be such a shame if their father killed such a cute girl!

Consort Shu was overjoyed to learn that it wasn't her son who had done wrong.

Qin Jue pulled his finger out, and the little dumpling looked at his hand, now that it was gone from his mouth.

I felt so wronged after being lectured again.

She closed her eyes, pouted her little mouth, and burst into tears with a "waaaah!"

I put my hand back in her mouth, sucked on it a couple of times, and found it was still there.

She grabbed Qin Jue's hand with her two little paws and continued to nibble on it.

A pair of big eyes were still darting around, looking here and there.

After sucking on it for a short while, she got bored and used her tongue to push Qin Jue's hand away, then picked up the jade pendant again and started nibbling on it.

Qin Jue looked on helplessly, thinking, "You little ingrate!"

Remembering that there were still three people kneeling below, he told them to get up and leave.

Qin Jingtai heard his father order him to leave, but he hadn't even seen his younger sister yet, and he felt resentful.

He spoke directly, "Father, I also want to hold my little sister."

Upon hearing this, Consort Shu immediately covered her son's mouth.

"Your Majesty, this little brat is talking nonsense. I'll take him back right away."

Despite Qin Jue's murderous glare, she pulled her two sons away from the Hall of Mental Cultivation.

Mother, I'm not as cute as my little sister, and Father is so scary. What if I scare my little sister and make her cry?

Qin Jingtai spoke earnestly, unaware that his father, the Emperor, had heard everything.

"Sanhezi, go and tell Consort Shu that the Third Prince is not familiar with palace rules, and ask Consort Shu to teach her son the rules properly."
