Extra Chapter: Jue Shi Rong Yan 35

Qin Jue was stunned when he saw the portrait posted on the notice board. "What's this?"

Qin Jue frowned, then looked at the posted text on the side. After reading it, she was surprised and murmured to herself.

How could that be?

Qin Jue thought for a moment, then left. He then recalled the people he had seen walking on the street from his window a few nights ago, and fell into deep thought.

"The medicine prescribed by Dr. Zhang is quite good; it's only the second day, and I already feel much more energetic."

"That Dr. Zhang is the best doctor in Lu County, and the medicine he prescribed for the young master is also excellent."

Xiao Liyan nodded. "If we drink for another day tomorrow, we should be able to continue our journey the day after tomorrow."

"If I didn't have a high fever, wouldn't we be almost at Yuansheng Hall by now, and able to find someone to rescue Dad?"

Xiao Shida's spirits sank. Xiao Liyan patted him on the shoulder, "Your health is just as important."

"Uncle Hong, I'll need your help to go out and gather information over the next two days. Those people..." Xiao Liyan said, pulling the blanket up around Xiao Shida, then turning to look at Hong Wu.

"That's what I think too, Miss."

"Wait a moment, after lunch, Uncle Hong, you can go and gather information."

"Yes, Miss."

——————————

Did you see the notice that was posted this morning?

"I see it! I see it! The little girl in the portrait is actually our High Priestess from the Southern Kingdom!"

"Yeah yeah"

Qin Jue sat at the dining table and overheard a conversation at the next table: "Who did the High Priest's family offend? They're being hunted down!"

"You don't understand, this isn't just a simple hunt; they want to slaughter the entire High Priest's family."

"Poor High Priestess, such a young girl, her prime years have just begun."

"What a pity, tsk tsk."

"The entire family of Feng Cheng, the High Priest's uncle, were assassinated multiple times."

The people in the restaurant were all discussing this matter.

"The High Priest is supposed to protect our Southern Kingdom. What will we do if he's really gone?"

One of them, while talking, suddenly slapped his thigh, looking worried. "I heard the High Priest has a cousin, and since they're from the same family, her cousin could also be the High Priest."

The people in the restaurant felt sorry for Xiao Liyan's plight, but at the same time, they were already thinking about what to do next, as if they could forget about it at any time.

Just as Qin Jue continued listening to them, he saw Hong Wu walking outside the restaurant.

Qin Jue quickly got up and walked towards the outside of the restaurant. He took out some loose silver coins and threw them behind him, which landed on the table where he had just been sitting.

Qin Jue walked out of the restaurant but still couldn't see Hong Wu. He could only follow the direction he'd seen Hong Wu walk in earlier and continued walking. After walking for a while, he finally saw Hong Wu at the front of the crowd.

Qin Jue quickened his pace and caught up. Hong Wu walked along, keeping an eye on the people around him.

He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that the people he expected weren't there, but Hongwu didn't let his guard down. He continued to observe, and when he reached crowded areas, he would slow down to listen to the conversations among the people in order to gather the information he needed.

Hongwu stopped after walking a few steps, glanced back slightly, then, seeing a large crowd, quickly walked forward again. Noticing that someone was still following him, he turned and twisted his way into a less crowded alley.

When Qin Jue caught up, he didn't see anyone. Standing in the alley, looking left and right, just as Qin Jue was looking around, a knife was held to his neck.

"Who sent you?"

When Hongwu asked that question, Qin Jue turned to face him. Hongwu was surprised to see this, but the knife in his hand remained against Qin Jue's neck.

"It's you? You were following me?"

"I'm not trying to stalk you, I just want to make sure it's you."

After Qin Jue finished speaking, Hongwu's eyes sharpened.

"Who sent you?"

"I just want to know if Miss Xiao and Young Master Xiao are being hunted down."

The knife against Qin Jue's shoulder was now even closer to his neck.

Seeing Hongwu's reaction, Qin Jue knew he was right. "The county government has already posted notices, clearly stating that they will reward you with silver if they find any clues about you."

"If I'm not mistaken, you are indeed being hunted. Since you haven't gone to the authorities, even if the notice is true or false, you can't let the authorities find you."

What do you want to do?

Qin Jue looked into Hongwu's eyes. "I saw you by chance a few days ago, and then I saw the notice. I wanted to find you so I could warn you that this place isn't safe."

Hongwu loosened his grip on the knife slightly, signaling Qin Jue to continue.

"The people with the government officials were a group of people dressed in white."

At this point, Qin Jue recalled that the night before last, while having dinner, the people at the next table, dressed in white, had noticed the embroidered patterns on the sleeves of the men.

"Their cuffs had a flower embroidered in black thread, but I couldn't make out what it was."

Hongwu narrowed his eyes upon hearing Qin Jue's words.

He then directly pressed Qin Jue's pressure points and put away his knife. "I'll investigate everything you've said. If it's false..."

Hongwu gestured with his hand in front of Qin Jue as he spoke, then turned and left.

Before leaving, he added, "You can move around in half an hour."

————————————

After leaving the alley, Hongwu headed towards the place where Qin Jue had told him about the posted notices.

Just in case, Hongwu specially used a brush to draw an unpleasant "birthmark" on his face.

When Hongwu arrived, he saw the notice Qin Jue had mentioned right there. After quickly reading it, Hongwu left the crowd.

You can hear people talking all the way.
