Extra Chapter: Jue Shi Rong Yan 36

Looking at Hongwu, who was somewhat disguised, Xiao Liyan had a bad feeling, and sure enough, she was right.

"Miss, something terrible has happened!"

"Uncle Hong, what happened?"

Hongwu glanced at Xiao Shida, who sat listlessly on the bed due to a cold, and then looked at Xiao Liyan.

Seeing that Xiao Liyan didn't say anything, he spoke up, "The government has posted our portraits, saying we're being hunted down. If you have any news about us, please go to the government office."

"The government? Who gave the order?"

Xiao Liyan frowned in confusion. "That night's events were orchestrated by that person; the government can't be trusted."

Hongwu nodded in agreement upon hearing Xiao Liyan's words, inwardly admiring her intelligence. Then, considering the current situation, he sighed.

“Miss, you’re absolutely right. Not only that, the person in white that night was with government officials.”

Who are they?

Xiao Shida did not see anyone dressed in white, since he had escaped through the tunnel.

"People from the Empress's maternal family"

"Miss, you know?" Hongwu asked, a hint of surprise on his face upon hearing Xiao Liyan's words.

"Yes, Dad told me some things before, and after that night I guessed some of them."

Hongwu understood.

"It's no longer safe for us to stay here. We'll leave tonight after dark. The authorities have posted our portraits, so we can't leave through the city gates."

"Uncle Hong, tonight, please use your light-footed skills to take us away."

"Yes, Miss."

Xiao Liyan walked to the stool and sat down. "The waiter has seen us. We need to be careful he doesn't go to the government office."

"When I first returned, I specifically observed that waiter; he probably doesn't know about the notice and the portrait yet."

"In that case, Uncle Hong, I'll have to trouble you to keep a close eye on that waiter, at least to make sure nothing happens to him before we leave."

"Don't worry, Miss."

Xiao Liyan looked at the jade pendant in her hand, sighed, and showed a sad expression.

Listening to Hongwu and Xiao Liyan's conversation, Xiao Shida looked at his hands with regret, clenching them into fists. He was angry at himself for not listening to Xiao Sheng and practicing martial arts before, angry at himself for never caring about these things and not being able to share Xiao Sheng's burdens. Now, this grown man had to rely on his sister, who was only a quarter of an hour older than him, for protection.

Hongwu: "Young Master, please rest for a while. We'll continue our journey tonight. Your cold hasn't gotten better, so you need to be in good spirits."

"Um"

Xiao Shida lay down, turned over so his back was to Xiao Liyan and Hong Wu, and thought about his past interactions with Xiao Sheng, and then about what Xiao Sheng might be like now...

Tears silently streamed down her cheeks and dripped onto the bed.

"Miss, you too..."

Hongwu was interrupted by Xiao Liyan before he could finish speaking, "Uncle Hong, I know, you don't need to say anything."

"Uncle Hong, could you please go to the pharmacy and buy some portable medicine for colds and high fevers?"

Manman is not fully recovered yet.

Hongwu nodded, then left the room.

————————

Qin Jue moved his body, and once he found he could move again, he quickly walked out of the alley and began searching for Hongwu.

Shortly after Qin Jue walked past the notice board where the portraits were posted, a person walked up to the notice board.

He looked at the portrait above and seemed to be deep in thought.

County Government

"You said you have information about them?"

"Yes, sir."

After the magistrate entered the house, he sat down on a stool. "Then tell me in detail."

"Yesterday, I saw the man in the portrait carrying a lot of medicine."

"You mean, this man bought the medicine?"

The magistrate picked up a portrait, pointed to the person in it, and asked...

"Yes, sir, when I passed by him, I smelled a very strong herbal odor."

"Do you know where he is now?"

"This humble commoner is unaware"

"Someone, give me the money!"

As soon as the magistrate finished speaking, someone handed a money bag full of silver to the kneeling man on the ground.

"This humble subject kowtows in gratitude to Your Excellency, thank you, Your Excellency, thank you..."

The magistrate waved his hand and dismissed the man. After he left, a person dressed in white emerged from behind the screen.

"That person was injured, so they should be easier to find."

"I've ordered a tight guard. You take your men to search, but don't make it too obvious."

——————————

"Dr. Zhang, I've come to pick up some medicine that's easy to carry."

Dr. Zhang nodded and took out two porcelain bottles. "This one is for taking one pill when you have a high fever, and this one is for taking if you are severely ill and unconscious."

"One type has three pills"

Hongwu paid the money, said "thank you," and left.

Just as Hongwu left the clinic, a group of people entered.

"Have you seen these three people? They need to be protected by the government now."

One of them saw that Doctor Zhang was still preparing medicine, so he took the portrait and showed it to Doctor Zhang, saying, "Do you see it?"

Dr. Zhang ignored it.

"I'm asking you a question, do you see me?"

Dr. Zhang glanced at the portrait, then continued preparing the medicine, saying, "Never seen this before."

After everyone had been questioned, they left.

After the person left, Doctor Zhang put down the medicine tray in his hand, looked towards the entrance of the clinic, and saw Hongwu standing outside, nodding at him, before leaving.

Dr. Zhang shook his head and went into the inner room of the clinic.
