Chapter 12 Nian Nian is a Psychologist

Chapter 12 Nian Nian is a Psychologist

Has the pressure reached this level?

Shi Guilin's face sank slightly, his eyes lowered to the white floor beneath his feet, and he thought of the figure whose fingertips were dancing on the piano keys.

His sister, Shi Nanxi, was arguably the only artistic member of the Shi family. Consequently, Shi Jianfeng was often teased by his friends, who said that while the whole family reeked of money, they had a spotless young artist.

Whenever this happened, Shi Jianfeng would always smile proudly and never argue, because his daughter had spent almost all her youth and time on the black and white piano keys, and everyone in the family had witnessed every detail.

Shi Nanqi became famous overnight on an ordinary yet extremely hot afternoon in the summer when she was eighteen years old.

After the college entrance exam, she and her friends leisurely returned to their high school campus. The cement path along the campus was steaming hot, and the sun made everyone's necks sweat, and their long hair on their foreheads stuck to their cheeks.

"Let's go to the piano room. I recently composed a song." Shi Nanqi raised a can of Sprite, took a sip, and suggested with a smile.

"Okay, what's the theme of the song Nanqi is composing this time?"

"Let's guess, is it summer?"

"What's the temperature of the hot damn thing?"

"A carnival after the college entrance examination?"

Her friends gathered around her, each holding a can of drink, chattering and guessing.

Shi Nanqi raised his index finger and shook it left and right. "Oh, everyone is right, but not entirely. The theme of this song is about us during graduation season."

The group walked and walked until they arrived at the piano room. Shi Nanqi sat down, put his hands on the keys, closed his eyes, tilted his head slightly, and said, "Let's start playing directly. You will understand after feeling it."

Everyone breathed softly and remained silent. One girl raised her phone and silently recorded the moment.

After they finished playing, they returned home. Shi Nanqi received a video of the piano room sent by a friend. She posted it on her personal social media platform simply for the sake of commemoration.

Unexpectedly, he became famous overnight.

In the stillness of the night, human emotions are at their most sensitive. The video's pristine white walls, the clear light beams within the room, the vast expanse of emerald green leaves outside the window... these ambient colors immediately transport everyone back to their middle school days.

Youthful faces, cans of drinks with water beads on the outside, and most importantly - bursts of piano music that are as cheerful as the jumping of birds, but as lost as the shadows of people leaving school stretched by the sunset.

That night, in this graduation season of eighteen years old, Shi Nanqi swept the Internet with her self-composed piano piece "Eighteen Years Old Under the Green Leaves".

This was Shi Nanqi, a woman with boundless creative energy and inspiration. Shi Guilin couldn't even begin to associate the words "unable to compose a song" with his sister.

"Alas." Shi Guilin slowly exhaled, looked up at the ceiling, and almost wanted to sneer. Wasn't he only radiant on the outside, but in reality, he was already rotten on the inside, his mind and body a mess.

"Papa." Nian Nian's cry stopped his sinking mood.

Shi Guilin controlled his lower facial muscles, tried his best to smile naturally, walked over, bent down, lifted up Nian Nian's fleshy butt, and picked up the little one.

He kissed her and said, "What's wrong, baby? Are you hungry? The meal will be ready soon."

Nian Nian didn't say anything. She held Shi Guilin's face with both hands and kept touching it. His strength was very light, and Shi Guilin felt a little itchy. He joked, "Do you think daddy is too handsome? Hahaha."

"Papa." Nian Nian didn't smile. He pursed his lips, his eyes turned down, his round eyes now filled with the thought of his father. His hands kept stroking Shi Guilin's eyebrows and face, and from time to time he would poke the corners of his mouth upwards, as if trying to make him smile.

Shi Guilin and Nian Nian stared at each other face to face, their mouths as if glued shut. Suddenly, they were speechless. After a long while, they finally said in a voice as soft as it could be: "What are you doing, Nian Nian?"

"Papa." Nian Nian was stumped for a moment, her face tense as she tried hard to utter a few useful words. Her voice was childish but had a unique purity. "Papa, no, don't cry... Papa... smile..."

Shi Guilin was stunned, his heart seemed to be tightened by an invisible hand, and he felt so depressed that he had no way to vent. "Silly Niannian, when did your father start crying? Little Niannian, you spread rumors."

"Papa, yes." Nian Nian argued, muttering "yes" in her mouth, and her right hand rested on Shi Guilin's brow without leaving.

It took a long time for Shi Guilin to realize that he had been frowning. The moment he realized it, he relaxed his brows in a daze.

As soon as she relaxed, Nian Nian spoke again: "Papa, mua."

His soft and warm lips touched Shi Guilin's brow.

Then, he put his short arms around Shi Guilin's neck and clung to his shoulders like a soft and small sticky dumpling: "Papa, papa."

Shi Guilin hurriedly lowered his eyes to hide his slightly red eyes. The 23-year-old, 1.8-meter tall man quietly pressed his side face against Nian Nian's sweet-smelling little body with some affection.

"Daddy won't cry. Good boy Nian Nian."

He felt the little girl's body temperature absentmindedly, and his eyelashes trembled. Otherwise... otherwise, he should go to the psychologist for a follow-up check-up tomorrow.

Shi Guilin nuzzled his chin into the warm crook of Nian Nian's neck. He'd already managed to fall asleep without medication once, so he thought, "I think I'm feeling better."

The two of them were quietly nurturing their father-son relationship, while Shi Linzhuo was frantically hiding snacks, hiding all the things that the children couldn't eat in corners where Nian Nian couldn't see.

Just as everyone was doing their own things in the living room, another person came home.

"I'm back! Where's my cute little nephew? Where is he? Let me give him a kiss. I saw Lin Zhuo's circle of friends this afternoon and I've been holding it in until now. I finally rushed home."

Shi Nanqi heard the voice before she saw the person. She had just changed her shoes and turned her head left and right like a robot to explore and search the living room. Her flowing long hair couldn't even keep up with the speed of her head shaking.

"Where's the child? Where's the child? Hurry up and hand over my dear little nephew!"

Shi Linzhuo: "..."

Shi Guilin: “…” Are you sure this is a state of lack of creativity?

Nian Nian tilted her head: "Hmm?"
