Chapter 17 Talented Players (1/2)

The next day, it was time to slack off in the break room.

Jiang Yunzhi was listening to her colleague talk about the juicy gossip of a wealthy family's first wife outsmarting her mistress when she suddenly received a call from her father.

Father Jiang commanded, "Come home today."

Jiang Yunzhi: "No, I'm busy."

Father Jiang was very angry: "Busy, busy, busy, what's so busy about?"

Jiang Yunzhi: "Uh."

Father Jiang adopted the authority of the head of the family and began to lecture in a fatherly manner.

“You’re a woman, quit your job, take good care of Mr. Yan, and give him a son. You’ll never have to worry about anything for the rest of your life.”

Jiang Yunzhi scoffed at feudal traditions, saying, "If they don't speak like human beings, they're done for."

Jiang's father was so frustrated by the misunderstanding that he almost exploded.

Remembering the purpose of today, he said in a deep voice, "Come back for dinner tonight, your mother misses you."

Mother?

Such unfamiliar words.

Before transmigrating into the book, Jiang Yunzhi was an orphan with no mother, only a grandmother. After transmigrating, she found that she saw no love in the eyes of the original owner's mother.

Jiang Lulu is Zeng Mingfang's good daughter.

After getting off work, Jiang Yunzhi took a taxi to the Jiang family home.

Mr. Jiang didn't bother with pleasantries or small talk; he went straight to the point, saying that several of the Jiang family's projects had recently been going poorly, and that no amount of persuasion or favors would help.

If this continues, the Jiang family will face a business crisis and a broken cash flow.

Ultimately, the Yan family's attitude is the key.

After the incident at Old Mrs. Yan's birthday banquet, the business partners were not optimistic about the Jiang family.

"Ultimately, this whole thing was caused by you, so you're responsible."

Jiang Yunzhi: "..."

How can someone lie so blatantly?

Out of politeness, she rolled her eyes at the other person.

Father Jiang gritted his teeth in anger: "The Yan family's South City Resort project, our Jiang family wants to bid for it. You talk to your husband about it, the Jiang family is the one who will be chosen."

Mother Jiang: "Yes, yes, Yunzhi, we should keep the good stuff within the family."

"If the Jiang family prospers, it will benefit you too, and you will have someone to rely on."

Jiang Yunzhi murmured, "For example? What benefits? Company shares or dividends? Or the Jiang family's land?"

Everyone was speechless.

Jiang's mother fell silent, frozen in place.

I didn't expect Jiang Yunzhi to be so blunt. She was just saying it casually; I really couldn't imagine what the benefits would be.

Jiang Lulu bit her lip: "Sister, how can you talk to Mom like that?"

"We're family, talking about benefits will only hurt our feelings..."

It was interrupted by Jiang Yunzhi's cool voice.

"I can't handle the resort project."

For a moment, the Jiang family members all looked rather grim.

Jiang's father's face fell when he realized that Jiang couldn't even do such a small thing.

When the Yan family proposed to cancel the engagement, the Jiang family went to great lengths and spared no expense to find Jiang Yunzhi.

Ultimately, the marriage arrangement was facilitated, and the Jiang family secured several major projects, making a fortune and resolving the company's crisis.

Father Jiang: "Do you know how much we sacrificed to find you?"

Old Deng shouldn't try to morally blackmail her.

Jiang Yunzhi retorted, "Did I eat your rice? Or spend a single penny of your money? Don't you know how much you've given up for what?"

The original owner didn't enjoy any of the benefits of being a rich heiress; she was purely a tool in an arranged marriage.

Jiang Yunzhi stood up, crossed her arms, and said, "I'm too lazy to criticize you all."

He turned and left.

He paused, then turned his head and said, "By the way, didn't my brother say that the Jiang family wanted to sever ties with me?"

Jiang Ceheng started sweating: "I was just joking, don't take it so seriously!"

"As a complete stranger, I don't find this joke funny," Jiang Yunzhi said, and strode away.

If she were the original owner of this body, and her own brother threatened to sever ties with her and force her to apologize to the fake heiress, her heart would be broken.

Jiang's father pointed at Jiang Ceheng and yelled, "Sever ties? Have you lost your mind?!"
