Su Li gave up on taking the car and went directly into the alley next to her.
There were hardly any people in the alley; it was quiet, and even the streetlights seemed very dim.
Su Li gripped her bag tightly and quickened her pace.
"That woman is up ahead, hurry and chase after her! The boss said we must get the earring!"
The footsteps behind them continued, growing ever closer.
In a moment of panic, Su Li went through the back door of a house, ripped off her mask, quickly tied up her long hair, and took off her coat.
She pushed open a door and was stunned by what she saw.
The room was bustling with activity. A dozen or so children sat around the table, playing and laughing, with toys scattered all over the floor.
This place turns out to be a childcare center.
The footsteps outside were getting closer and closer. Su Li didn't have time to think, so she strode over and sat down between the children.
"Beautiful sister, are you the new teacher?" a cute little girl asked, staring at her.
Su Li smiled and said, "You can think of it that way for now."
"Go inside and take a look!"
The door was pushed open, and the bodyguards rushed in.
The children inside were terrified and immediately hid behind Su Li.
The leader was a foreigner with dark skin, sharp eyes, and a tall, muscular build. The children were afraid of him.
"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid."
Su Li comforted the children, then looked at them and asked, "Who are you? What do you want by barging in here?"
The man looked around, his gaze finally settling on her, and asked in broken English, "Are you a teacher here?"
"I am."
Su Li said sternly, "There are so many children here. What do you want to do by bringing so many people in? Leave now, or I'll call the police."
They looked at each other, knowing they couldn't cause trouble here.
"Did you see anyone suspicious come in?"
Su Li: "No."
"Let's go."
The man turned around with the others.
Su Li breathed a sigh of relief and patted the children's heads beside her.
When they reached the door, they suddenly stopped.
Her heart leaped into her throat again as they slowly turned around, their eyes fixed on her.
A bad feeling welled up in Su Li's heart.
The man grinned wickedly, stroking his chin. "You're quite a pretty little girl. How much can you make as a teacher? Why don't you come work for us?"
Their lewd smiles sent chills down my spine.
Su Li: "What do you want to do?"
"If you don't want us to scare the children, then come out with us."
Su Li knew they wouldn't let it go, so for the children's safety, she slowly got up.
After they left, the after-school care teachers rushed back and were terrified by what they saw. They quickly went in to check on the children and only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that they were all safe and sound.
"What are those people doing here?" the teacher asked, puzzled. They even took a beautiful woman with them.
Su Li followed them out of the alley and saw several cars ahead.
The two people in front of her were talking in hushed tones, glancing back at her with wicked intent.
"This woman is really beautiful. Even if we don't find the person who took the earring tonight, the boss will be very happy to bring back such a beauty."
"We failed to complete the mission, so the boss is definitely unhappy. But if we bring a beautiful woman back, he won't be too angry."
They were speaking French.
Don't assume she doesn't understand.
Although I don't know who their boss is, if his subordinates are like this, then the boss must be no good.
If she really gets on the car, she won't be able to escape.
