50. Warmth and Coldness

50. Warmth and Coldness

Inside the room, Ke Qi sat on the sofa with Gu Zhao's arm around her waist, obediently holding a glass of warm lemon water, sipping it and chatting with An Qingyao from time to time.

As they chatted, the topic of their first meeting inevitably came up.

"I'm sorry, Kiki."

An Qingyao smiled, somewhat embarrassed, "I hid my identity from you when we met last time because I was afraid that revealing it abruptly would be too abrupt and would affect your relationship with A Zhao."

"And the reason I asked you those questions is because this is Zhao's first relationship. I was afraid he might do something wrong that would upset you, so I wanted to check him out beforehand. I hope you don't mind."

"I don't mind." Ke Qi smiled at her. "Gu Zhao is a good person, and he's very good to me too."

She glanced at Gu Zhao sideways, then lowered her head shyly and murmured softly, "Everything is fine."

Good looks, good values, good physical strength...

Cough, that's good too.

Feeling the tiny tail swaying beneath her skirt, Gu Zhao smiled and whispered in her ear, "So I'm that highly regarded by you, baby?"

The word "baby" carries a warm feeling, intimate and tender, vaguely resembling the gentle coaxing during last night's passionate lovemaking.

Ke Qi's ears turned red instantly. She shrank her neck, lowered her head, and stopped talking.

An Qingyao witnessed the intimate interaction between the young couple and smiled, "Well, that's good."

Her gaze casually swept over the barely noticeable red mark on the girl's fair neck, and her smile widened.

"Qiqi".

She took one of her hands and placed it on her knee, her gaze softening as she said, "Since you think A-Zhao is quite nice, when would be a convenient time for me and your Uncle Gu to meet your parents and discuss your engagement with A-Zhao? What do you say?"

Ke Qi was slightly taken aback.

"Are you getting engaged?"

It was an exceptionally smooth meeting.

An Qingyao and Gu Zhuoyan were indeed as Gu Zhao had said, enlightened parents. They treated her with gentleness and consideration from beginning to end, and never showed any criticism or contempt for her or her family background.

Ke Qi lowered her eyes slightly, the nervousness and apprehension she felt upon arriving gradually dissipating, and a gentle smile appeared on her face. "I..."

"Dad, Mom!"

"I heard my second brother brought his girlfriend back. Has she arrived yet?"

A soft, tinkling girl's voice suddenly came from the doorway, interrupting their conversation at an inopportune moment.

Ke Qi stopped speaking and subconsciously glanced at the door.

As soon as I looked in, a lively and lovely-looking girl walked in.

She had a pair of beautiful peach blossom eyes just like An Qingyao and Gu Zhao, delicate eyebrows and eyes, a small and straight nose, and naturally upturned smiling lips. When she smiled, it was as romantic as spring flowers in full bloom.

At the same time, a young man with a cool and aloof demeanor walked in right behind her.

But before Keqi could get a good look at the young man, her attention was interrupted by the approaching girl.

"Wow, what a beautiful lady!"

The lively and beautiful girl saw Keqi the moment she walked in, so she ran over in her nine-centimeter stilettos and sat down opposite Keqi.

Then, she looked at Ke Qi with a mixture of amazement and politeness, her gaze finally settling on Gu Zhao's hand that was intimately wrapped around her waist, a mischievous smile on her face.

"Second brother, you've really made something of yourself! You've actually found such a beautiful girlfriend!"

She kept calling him beautiful, and Ke Qi felt a little embarrassed by the compliments. After nodding and saying "hello" to the girl, she didn't know what else to say. She reached out and tugged at Gu Zhao's arm, looking at him for help.

"She is Gu Xi." Gu Zhao gently patted the back of her hand reassuringly and said in a gentle voice, "My sister."

"Hello, sister!" Gu Xi greeted her with a smile and introduced herself. "My name is Gu Xi, you can call me Xi Xi."

"Oh, right."

After she finished speaking, she pointed to the young man sitting on another sofa and introduced him: "That's my older brother, Gu Ye."

Upon hearing the name, Ke Qi's breath hitched slightly as she thought of something, giving her a chance to look up and carefully examine the young man sitting not far away.

He sat there quietly, his silver-gray suit tailored to fit perfectly, looking crisp and noble, his long legs elegantly crossed, exuding a cold and ascetic air.

Sensing Ke Qi's gaze, he calmly raised his sharp phoenix eyes, which resembled Gu Zhuoyan's, and stared at her quietly for a few seconds.

"Hello."

His deep, clear voice was like the moonlight on a winter night, carrying a hint of aloofness that kept people at a distance.

The moment he spoke, Ke Qi inexplicably felt the temperature in the room drop a few degrees.

And whether it was her imagination or not, she always felt that Gu Ye's gaze towards her was inexplicably strange.

Involuntarily, Fang Zeqing's words from last night resurfaced in my mind, and my relaxed nerves instantly tensed up again.

"Hello."

After politely greeting him, she immediately looked away, not daring to look at him again, and subconsciously moved closer to Gu Zhao.

Subtle actions that are a mixture of dependence and fear.

"What's wrong?" Gu Zhao sensed it, lowered his head slightly, and gently rubbed his high nose against her soft cheek, saying softly, "Are you afraid of him?"

Ke Qi didn't speak, but bit her lower lip tightly and turned her face slightly away, trying to avoid Gu Ye's cold gaze that kept scrutinizing her.

"Don't be afraid, Qiqi."

Seeing this, An Qingyao comforted her, "My eldest son is just like that, just like his father. He always has a stern, cold face, like he's about to eat someone alive. You'll get used to it."

After she finished speaking, she looked at Gu Ye and said, "You brat, is it going to kill you to smile? Didn't you see you scared Qiqi?"

Upon hearing this, Gu Ye calmly withdrew his gaze, his cold voice flat as he said, "I'm sorry."

"N-nothing, I wasn't scared."

Ke Qi stammered in response, but as she spoke, she subtly shrank closer to Gu Zhao again, like a little turtle.

Seeing this, Gu Zhao looked up at Gu Xi and asked, "I remember you used to collect a lot of rare and out-of-print anime merchandise?"

Gu Xi nodded. "Yes, what's wrong, Second Brother?"

Gu Zhao didn't answer, but lowered his eyes and gently rubbed Ke Qi's head. "Do you want to go upstairs and play with Xi Xi for a while? You should be very interested in her things. I'll come up and call you when dinner is ready."

Upon hearing this, Ke Qi felt as if she had been granted a pardon, nodding like a chick pecking at rice, "Okay!"

Gu Xi laughed, raised one hand in a funny salute, and said, "Alright!"

"Sister-in-law, let's go."

Without a word, she took Ke Qi's hand and headed upstairs. As she turned back, she made a face at Gu Ye, who was standing not far away, and called him "You stinky ice cube!"

Seeing that her beloved daughter-in-law had been taken away, An Qingyao had a moment to discuss with Gu Zhao, "Ah Zhao, I think Qiqi still likes you very much."

"From our conversation just now, she seemed willing to marry you. Do you want to discuss it with her and arrange for her parents to meet sometime to talk about your marriage?"

Upon hearing this, Gu Zhao smiled and said, "Fine, I..."

I disagree.

Before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by a cold and indifferent voice.

Gu Ye looked up at her and said, "Ah Zhao, you and her are not a good match."

A calm, still tone instantly extinguishes all the liveliness and warmth, bringing the atmosphere to a freezing point.

Gu Zhuoyan didn't say anything, but An Qingyao exploded instantly.

"You brat, what nonsense are you talking about? You're useless yourself, and now you want to interfere with your brother, huh?"

Gu Ye ignored her, his calm phoenix eyes fixed on Gu Zhao, and coldly repeated, "Break up with her, Zhao."

Gu Zhao's faint smile faded, and she squinted at him, "Reason?"

Gu Ye: "She is a filthy succubus."

A deathly silence spread.

Until the next instant.

"Bang!"

The tea on the coffee table was kicked over. Gu Zhao had already walked up to Gu Ye and coldly grabbed his collar, "Say that again if you dare!"
