Chapter 109: Wedding Preparations

Indeed, Boyi and Zhou Hengliang were only ten years apart, and he felt awkward when Zhou Hengliang called him "Uncle." Now that he was about to move up a generation, Boyi was unprepared and had no idea what the child should call him.

Zhou Hengliang pondered for a moment, "Should I call him Uncle? Look at what this means. My uncle is so young, but he's already being called old."

"Yes, yes, you should call me uncle. What's so old about me? I'm lucky. At my age, some people are almost holding their grandchildren. Little darling, do you hear me? I'm uncle, come and smile for him."

Boyi has never hated children. As he grows older, he likes children even more.

"Uncle, since you like children so much, let Aunt Shumei give birth to one for you when the time comes. Aunt Shumei is still young anyway."

Li Miaomiao looked at Boyi who was so intoxicated and said something casually.

To be honest, Boyi had always dreamed of having a child with Shumei, but when he thought of Shumei's heartache, he gave up the idea.

He knew that Shumei hadn't properly recovered from Jizong's accident and was in poor health. Childbirth was very draining on a woman's essence and blood, and he didn't want to harm Shumei's body any further. So he didn't intend to bring up the matter of having a child, leaving everything to Shumei.

"Let everything take its course!"

Boyi handed the child to Miaomiao, his expression clearly showing a hint of helplessness. He pulled a large red envelope from his pocket and slipped it into the child's blanket.

"Xiao Hengliang, this is a gift from your uncle. I wish you a safe and healthy life."

Zhou Hengliang smiled and thanked Boyi on behalf of the child. At this time, Wen Dazui came over holding little Youchen.

"Bo Yi, we're all family, why are you being so polite? Come and sit down. I'll go pick some vegetables from the fields and cook a few dishes you like."

Wen Dazui's face was full of smiles. As time went by, Wen Dazui, who used to speak carelessly and without distinguishing the important from the unimportant, now speaks more like a lady.

At the lunch table, everyone chatted and talked about the house that Boyi had just built.

"Uncle, if you buy some furniture for your house, you should be able to move in. None of us have ever lived in an apartment building. How about you leave one for Miaomiao and me so that we can also take advantage of your kindness and live in an apartment building?"

Zhou Hengliang had his eyes on the Boyi Building, and he said this with a grin and half-jokingly.

"If you want to live in a building, earn money and build it yourself! Don't be shameless."

Before Boyi could reply to Zhou Hengliang, Wen Dazui spoke first.

"Aren't we family? What's wrong with staying together for a while?"

Zhou Hengliang couldn't stand how nice Wen Dazui was to Boyi. He thought it was a betrayal, a betrayal that only supported the right side of things. He was her biological son, yet she didn't speak up for him, but for Boyi instead. He grumbled to himself.

Wen Dazui stopped scolding Zhou Hengliang, but his expression was not very good, and he glared at Zhou Hengliang angrily.

"No problem. Once your aunt Shumei and I have finalized our marriage, you can stay as long as you want. If your aunt Shumei doesn't want to stay at home, I'm counting on you to help me look after the house! Besides, there are so many rooms that we can't even live in them all."

Boyi clearly sensed the awkwardness of the atmosphere and quickly spoke out to ease the situation.

"Hey! My uncle is always good to me." Zhou Hengliang smiled brightly, picked up a piece of twice-cooked pork from the table and put it in Boyi's bowl, "Come on, uncle, eat more."

"Bo Yi! From what you said, you built this house just for your wedding and didn't plan to move back in and live there permanently?"

Wen Dazui could tell from Boyi's words that he had no intention of returning to the village.

"I have to take care of the business at the store and can't afford to run back and forth. Even if I come back to live here, it will probably be just Shumei and Xiao Youchen. If she doesn't come back, the house will just be empty for the time being."

Boyi's original intention in building this house was to fulfill his promise to Shumei: to give her a home. Whether she lived there or not was not important at all.

"Since you were planning to make a living in town, why didn't you just buy some land and build a house there? Don't you think you have too much money and want to burn it?"

Wen Dazui was clearly dissatisfied with Boyi's actions. Even if he had more money now, he shouldn't have squandered it so lavishly! Life is long! Things change over time. Three rich and three poor years aren't enough to make you old! Money should be kept and used wisely, for emergencies.

Of course, her main consideration was Xiao Youchen. She didn't want Boyi to think about Xiao Youchen's future for the sake of a woman. Xiao Youchen would have many places to spend money in the future!

"I thought about it at the time, but aren't Ji Zong's parents still in the village? Xiao Shuang Ning is also there, so Shu Mei will have to go back to the village sooner or later. She can't just ignore Xiao Shuang Ning! So even if it doesn't cost a lot of money, she'll have to live there sooner or later."

Boyi explained to Wen Dazui that even though it was such a big thing as building a house, Boyi first considered Shumei and her daughter, and did not consider his own inconvenience at all.

As expected, Wen Dazui knew that Boyi must be doing this for Shumei.

The house was already built, and she had no more to say. Besides, what else could she say? Boyi was just her dead sister's man. If it weren't for little Youchen, and if Boyi and Shumei had been married, the two families would probably have been strangers!

After hearing Boyi's words, Li Miaomiao pinched Zhou Hengliang and whispered, "Did you hear that? He spoils me like this before we're even married. He'll probably spoil me to the skies after we're married. You better learn to be nice to me, or I'll kick you out and find someone like my uncle-in-law."

Boyi's goodness made a young woman like Li Miaomiao envious and jealous. She and Zhou Hengliang were still newlyweds, and their life was as ordinary as water. These two were both second marriages, and at such an old age, they could still interpret love so vividly through their actions.
