Looking at Boyi's worried eyes, Shumei really couldn't bear to refuse him, so she reluctantly agreed to stay.
If it were anyone else, tonight would have been a smooth process. After all, they were both adults, both had been married before, and both loved each other. But Boyi actually curled up on the sofa and slept all night, not even setting foot in the back room.
Shumei's life became peaceful once again. She would run back and forth between the grain store and the barber shop every day, like a repeat of the previous day. There was no ripple at all. Perhaps this was what they called the end of prosperity, the return to simplicity and nature, and the way a happy life should be.
Except for going back to the village to see Xiao Shuangning, where Zhang Xiaoqin made things difficult for him, everything else seemed to go particularly smoothly.
A few months later…
The house has been built, and in order to decorate the house and move into the new home, Boyi had to go back to the village.
Shumei was also familiar with the procedures in the grain store. In order to prevent the grain store from closing, Shumei decided to discuss with Boyi that she would come over to help look after the grain store during his return to the village.
After Shumei and Qianqian had agreed, she packed some clothes and headed towards the grain store. In order to hurry up before Boyi returned to the village, she quickened her pace.
Arriving at the grain store, Boyi was packing his things for the trip back to the village. Little Youchen was sitting on the sofa in the store, watching TV and eating candy. When he saw Shumei come in, he happily ran over and threw himself into her arms.
"Mom, why did you come to pick me up so early today? Didn't Dad say that I don't have to go to your place today? He wanted to take me back to my hometown."
It was indeed quite early today, it was still dark outside. Boyi was rushing back to the village and forcibly woke up the sleeping little Youchen.
"I miss our little Youchen! Where's your dad?"
"Dad is in the room." Xiao Youchen said, pointing in the direction of the inner room.
"Xiao Youchen, stay here obediently. I'm going in to talk to your dad."
"Um!"
Xiao Youchen nodded slightly in response and ran back to the sofa. Shumei, carrying her bag, walked straight into the inner room.
"Is it packed?"
Looking at Boyi rummaging through the drawers in the house, Shumei asked in a very calm tone.
Last night, they had agreed that Shumei wouldn't come pick up Xiao Youchen today. He would go back to the village to arrange everything, arrange the necessary decorations, buy the necessary things, and set a date for their wedding. Then he would come pick Shumei up, so Boyi was still surprised to hear Shumei's voice suddenly.
"Shumei, why are you here?"
Boyi turned around and asked in a surprised tone.
Shumei put her bag on the chair and said while helping Boyi fold his clothes, "I've already told Qianqian that I'll look after the store while you're gone. We have to close again after we have the wedding banquet, and it's always been closed for three days in a row, which affects business."
"It's normal to be closed for a while. Everyone has things going on at home. Since you've already made arrangements with Qianqian, how about coming back to the village with me?"
Shumei pondered the matter carefully. Moving into a new house was a good thing, but if she were there, Zhang Xiaoqin would definitely complain again. That would definitely make everyone unhappy. If she didn't go back, Zhang Xiaoqin probably wouldn't have the audacity to go to Boyi and pick a fight.
It's better to have less trouble than more, so I decided not to go back. Besides, the power outage, water outage, and other trivial matters will take at least ten days or half a month! If I can't open the store for business for ten days or half a month, the loss will be huge. Even if I don't need money, I can't burn it!
Seeing that Shumei didn't answer for a long time, Boyi continued to ask: "How about it, have you thought it over? Come back with us! It's so hard to seize such an opportunity all year round, let's take a break for ourselves."
Shumei handed the packed bag to Boyi, "Okay! Let's do as I planned. I'll look after the store and you go back. Get everything done as soon as possible. I'm still waiting to be the legitimate wife of the store owner. I'll try to handle the things I can handle in the store, and I'll save the things I can't handle for you to deal with when you come back. Be careful on your way."
Shumei took Boyi's arm and walked him out of the store. Before leaving, Boyi gave Shumei some money for her to use for her daily necessities and to buy food for the store.
Boyi took little Youchen and set out on the journey back to the village.
Because we left early in the morning, when we returned to the village, Wen Dazui and the others had not started preparing lunch yet.
Boyi parked his bicycle in the yard, carried the things he bought for Wen Dazui and the others, and took Xiao Youchen into the house.
Little Youchen ran into the house, shouting loudly, "Auntie, Auntie, I'm back..."
He excitedly threw himself into Wen Dazui's arms. After all, Wen Dazui was the person he had seen the most times since he was born, and he and Wen Dazui were very close. He missed Wen Dazui very much after not seeing him for several months.
Wen Dazui was also like his little nephew. When he saw him come back, he excitedly hugged little Youchen and spun around in place with him holding him high up.
Both of them laughed out loud, so happily.
"My little darling, you are so lucky to come back to see your aunt. Your aunt misses you so much."
When Li Miaomiao and Zhou Hengliang heard the sound, they knew that the God of Wealth had returned, and they hurried out of the inner room with their children.
Zhou Hengliang came forward and took the bags from Boyi's hands.
"Uncle, why didn't you call me when you came back? Miaomiao and I could pick you up at the village entrance!"
"What are you picking me up for? It's not like I don't know the way. This little Hengliang! He's almost two months old, right? The little guy was born just as the grain harvest season came, and I haven't had time to come back. Come on, little darling, let... what should I call him?"
Boyi took the child from Miaomiao's arms, held him in his arms and teased him, but was suddenly stuck on the issue of seniority.
