But today, Shumei wasn't here, and Qianqian felt uneasy. Seeing Boyi come in, she suddenly stood up from the sofa, looking a little bewildered. She deliberately walked to the dressing table and grabbed a comb to play with it.
"Sister Shumei is helping you look after the store, isn't she? Why are you looking for me?"
"She didn't come to your place? That's strange. Where could she have gone?"
Boyi didn't ask any more questions and walked out of the barber shop muttering to himself. Looking at the familiar street, he didn't know where to look.
Qianqian saw worry on Boyi's face. After thinking for a moment, she said to Boyi at the door, "Could he have gone back to the village?"
"I just came from the village. She hasn't gone back yet! Okay, go ahead and do your work! If she comes to your place, remember to tell her to go to my place. I have something important to tell her."
After Boyi finished speaking, he hurried towards the direction of the vegetable market without waiting for Qianqian to respond.
Shumei sat by the river for the entire afternoon, leaning against a large willow tree, her body soaked by the rain. The rain had stopped and the sky was clear, a sunset glow filling the horizon.
Shumei took out the photo she had with her and looked at the little Shuangning in the photo, with her bright eyes, white teeth and radiant smile. She had been expressionless until now, but she finally couldn't help crying.
This photo is her only clue to find Xiao Shuangwan. Fortunately, they are twins with exactly the same appearance, otherwise even if Shumei wanted to find her, she would have no idea where to start.
The pile of fatal reports was placed on the grass beside her, and the words on them were blurred because of the rain.
Only when the last ray of sunset glow faded from the horizon and the earth was covered with darkness did Shumei struggle to get up from the ground and walk towards the grain store with heavy steps.
Boyi turned the whole town upside down, but still couldn't find Shumei. He was extremely worried and stood at the door of the grain store, waiting anxiously, hoping that Shumei would come back soon.
At this moment, his worry about Shumei had replaced the happiness in his heart. His brow was furrowed with worry, and he no longer looked happy about the good things that were about to happen.
Time passed by second by second...
When Boyi saw Shumei in his sight, he was beside himself with excitement. Like a lion pouncing on its prey, he rushed into the night at lightning speed, rushing to Shumei's side. Without saying a word, he pulled Shumei into his arms, holding her so tightly that she couldn't breathe.
"Where have you been? I've been looking for you all afternoon. You almost broke my heart. Shumei, if you run around without saying a word in the future, I'll be worried about you. I can't live without you."
Boyi's words, full of reproach, worry and deep affection, made Shumei unable to hold back her tears.
She didn't know what to say. At this moment, she could only use tears to express her current mood.
After the excitement, Boyi realized that Shumei was soaked all over. He quickly pulled her into the house, pushed Shumei into the inner room, and asked her to change her wet clothes.
Boyi closed the door for Shumei and waited on the sofa in the store. At this moment, he was extremely excited. When Shumei came out, he could tell her about the wedding banquet.
Despite all odds, they finally found their union. Boyi was filled with excitement and happiness. His happiness blinded him, so much so that he didn't notice the pain on Shumei's face. He sat on the sofa, fidgeting a bit, chugging glass after glass of water.
Shumei took off her clothes and stood in front of the dressing mirror on the wardrobe. Looking at herself in the mirror and the terrible abscess on her body, she bit her lower lip tightly to prevent herself from crying out loud.
They had agreed to give up treatment, but when she saw Boyi was so anxious just because she had been missing for a long time, she wavered, hesitated, and was conflicted.
After she changed her clothes and came out, Boyi quickly pulled her to sit on the sofa. Boyi held her hands tightly and looked at Shumei lovingly.
"Shumei, I have good news to tell you. Our wedding date is set for the second day of next month. The invitations have already been sent out, and we've set up 50 tables. I can finally fulfill my promise to you and marry you in style. Are you happy?"
Boyi's smile was as beautiful as a flower, and Shumei could smell the scent of happiness from his excited voice.
She understood that Boyi wanted to give her a surprise, but for her right now, it was more of a surprise than joy. She frowned, not daring to look up at Boyi, and she didn't know how to face this sudden happiness.
"What? Are you unhappy? Are you blaming me for setting the wedding date without consulting you? Shumei, don't be unhappy. I just wanted to give you a surprise."
"I'm not unhappy, it's just a little sudden, and I haven't recovered yet."
Boyi also took out the gold ring and necklace prepared for Shumei from his bag and placed them in front of Shumei.
"Shumei, this is for you. I've been with you for so long, but I haven't given you anything decent. Come, let me put it on you."
Without waiting for Shumei to say anything, Boyi took out the ring and put it on Shumei's finger, then took out the necklace and put it on Shumei.
Afterwards, Boyi sat down and admired his masterpiece with satisfaction.
"Shumei, I will love and protect you for the rest of my life. Thank you for giving me the chance to love you."
Boyi took Shumei's hand with the ring, put it to his lips, and kissed it in ecstasy.
Oh my God, what have I done wrong? I already owe this man so much, are you going to let me hurt him again? Why are you so cruel? Why did you let me suffer such a disease?
Shumei still couldn't hold back. After a struggle in her heart, she threw herself into Boyi's arms and burst into tears.
