Chapter 127: There is hope in life

The journey was long, and even though she stopped and walked, she was still sweating profusely.

This familiar yet unfamiliar village, and the villagers who seemed to have not been seen for hundreds of years, made Zhang Xiaoqin feel no sense of familiarity at all.

Since she divorced Jiang Fu, she has never returned to the village, and she doesn't care whether her children are doing well or not. She is the kind of person who only cares about her own life and death, not whether others are good or bad.

It seemed that she was not very popular in the village. As she walked along, few people talked to her. What's more, some people would walk away from her when they saw her from afar even though they were clearly coming towards her.

Zhang Xiaoqin used to have a good relationship with this person. Zhang Xiaoqin was thinking about going up to him and having a good chat, but she never expected that he would avoid her like the plague. She felt that her warm face was put on the cold butt of this person, and her smile suddenly stopped.

The man didn't want to do this to Zhang Xiaoqin, but was forcibly dragged to take a detour by her husband. The woman even complained about her man for this.

"Why are you pulling me? I was just about to go up and say hello to Xiaoqin!"

"What are you saying? This kind of vicious woman is untouchable. Do you want to imitate her, plotting against your husband's sister-in-law, disobeying your parents-in-law, and being fickle?"

The man scolded his wife harshly, not wanting her to be led astray by Zhang Xiaoqin.

The woman did not refute. The two of them walked arm in arm, walking around Zhang Xiaoqin and heading into the distance.

"Bah! What kind of people are you? You all think you're so noble and so great that I have to come up to you and say hello. You are so contemptuous, don't you think I am? I curse that sooner or later your families will be broken up and you will not have a good end."

Zhang Xiaoqin looked at the attitudes of these people and felt a surge of anger. She spat on the ground and walked towards home, cursing to herself.

Back then, divorce was not so common, and divorced women like Zhang Xiaoqin were treated like monsters. People tended to ignore who was right and who was wrong, blaming the woman for the mistake, believing it was because she was unfaithful that she was dumped by a man.

Zhang Xiaoqin was smart all her life, but confused for a moment. This was probably the most unwise choice she had ever made. But under the circumstances at the time, even if she didn't leave, it would probably be difficult for her to gain a foothold in the Jiang family.

She was thick-skinned and not afraid of the strange looks. She continued to walk forward with her head held high.
