Chapter 130: Sending a Letter

Shumei climbed onto the coffee table and used her body to shield her letter. She turned around and glared at Wencai angrily.

"Humph! What are you so proud of? I didn't ask you to watch it, so go do what you need to do."

"How dare you chase me away? Are you the boss or am I?"

Wencai felt like he'd invited back a ancestor. Shumei kept saying he was her benefactor, but she never showed him any mercy. She hadn't changed at all from four years ago, bickering with him every day and completely ignoring him.

Shumei still had that sour face and stared at Wencai without saying a word.

"Okay, I won't read it. You can take your time to write. I just paid for trouble and invited an old Buddha back."

Wencai muttered softly and sat back on the sofa to watch TV. Shumei then turned back to write her letter.

Although Wencai complained like this, his heart was actually not what it seemed. In his heart, he particularly enjoyed this kind of bickering life, which at least made him feel that life was not so boring.

Shumei placed the letter to Wu Ju in the envelope containing the money. She then took a new piece of stationery and wrote a letter to Qianqian, hoping to use Qianqian to report to Boyi that he was safe and to convey what she wanted to say.

She really felt useless and didn't even have the courage to write a letter to Boyi.

Qianqian:

When you read this letter, you must want to scold me harshly, right? Actually, I also want to scold myself, scolding why I abandoned you and wandered around alone, without considering the feelings of those who care about me.

I survived. I met my lucky star, who paid for my surgery.

But now I don’t want to go back. Although my life has been saved, I am no longer the same person. The part of my body that could be used for breastfeeding has been completely removed due to surgery, leaving a scar the size of a bowl.

It took me a lot of struggle to get out of the nightmare and accept this cruel reality.

Now, I look like a ghost, and I really don't have the courage to go back and face Boyi. I'm not with Boyi, so please take good care of him for me.

I will go back, but not now. I am still struggling with this. You all need to be well. Don't worry about me. Don't come looking for me. I am doing fine.

The Unworthy Friend: Kang Shumei

Shumei's expression was very heavy. She carefully folded the letter, put it in an envelope, glued the two letters together, wrote the recipient's address and name, and affixed two stamps.

"I'm going out to post a letter and will be back soon."

Shumei held the letter, informed Wencai, and prepared to go out to mail it.

"Wait, it's so late, I'll go with you."

Wencai put down the remote control in his hand and hurried to the door.

"No, it's not that far. Besides, I'm just a broke babysitter. It's not my turn to do something like robbery."

Shumei squatted behind the door to change her shoes while jokingly persuading Wencai.

Wencai was not so obedient. He also took out his own shoes from the shoe cabinet and put them on his feet.

"That's not necessarily true. You're a woman after all! If you can't rob her of her money, you can still rob her of her body! I'll take a small loss and be your bodyguard for free."

"You're a crow's mouth. A dog can't spit out ivory. You're not going to bother me. Just stay home!"

Shumei quickly put on her shoes, rushed out, and slammed the door.

Wencai's entire face almost hit the door, but fortunately he reacted quickly and leaned back to avoid disfigurement.

By the time he opened the door and chased out, Shumei had already run out of the community, and he didn't even see Shumei's shadow.

Wencai's home is on the first floor. The gate of the community is just a few dozen meters away.

Although this residential area was considered a relatively high-end community at that time, there were no regular gatekeepers and only an iron gate.

Although there is no one guarding the gate, it is locked after 11pm every night for the safety of the community. There are only two locks on the gate, one is in the hands of the gatekeeper, Mr. Zhang, and the other is kept in the office of the community management office.

Night markets were not popular at that time. After get off work, most people would go home and rarely go out after 11 o'clock.

Wencai trotted out, ran out of the gate of the community, and in the dim light, he easily found Shumei's figure. He quickly caught up with her and walked forward side by side with Shumei.

"Why did you follow me anyway?"

"Who told me to hire such a stubborn nanny? This letter should be sent in the middle of the night. There's money in the envelope. Be careful, if a thief breaks into the mailbox at the post office in the middle of the night, you'll end up losing more than you gain."

"What thief would have so much fun prying into a mailbox?"

"Everything is possible, don't you just not believe it."

Shumei said nothing more, looking lost in thought. As she walked, she suddenly stopped.

"Or, I'll just mail it tomorrow! I've waited so long, there's no need to rush."

Shumei looked at Wencai awkwardly, feeling embarrassed for her own lack of consideration.

Wencai looked at Shumei's serious expression and burst out laughing.

"You're such a stubborn ox, you're only interested in scams. You've already done it, so why would you back down? You believed my threats. Do you think everyone else would be as dumb as you, sending money in the middle of the night? Even thieves aren't that dumb. Let's go!"

Wencai grabbed Shumei's arm and dragged her towards the post office.

After delivering the letter, the two strolled on the familiar streets. The moonlight gently fell on them, as if covering them with a mysterious veil.
