Qing Ke was sitting in front of the dressing table, wearing a lace pajamas, looking drowsy and obviously not fully awake yet.
She held the makeup box in her hand, but just stood there without taking any action.
She looked at the mirror listlessly, and the more she looked, the angrier and more aggrieved she felt.
Today is Sunday, and she had thought she could sleep in, but her dream was shattered by her parents.
She put down her makeup box angrily and crawled back into her bed, wanting to take a nap.
Director Shang and his wife Bai Meng had finished packing and were almost done with breakfast. Seeing that Qingke hadn't come downstairs yet, they started to feel a little anxious.
Director Shang glanced at the clock on the wall and frowned.
"Bai Meng, why hasn't Keke come down yet? Look, it's almost nine o'clock. It wouldn't be good if people misunderstood us and said we were being arrogant. After all, the Wang family is a well-known family."
Bai Meng put down the chopsticks in his hand and looked upstairs.
"How about I go up and urge them again?"
"Go quickly."
Director Shang waved his hand, signaling Bai Meng to go quickly.
Bai Meng ran upstairs with a crackling sound of noise. Seeing Qing Ke sleeping soundly on the bed, she was as anxious as an ant on a hot pot. She rushed to the bed and pulled back Qing Ke's quilt.
"Keke, why did you fall asleep again? Hurry up and get up. You're going to be late. Don't make your dad angry. Hurry up, go wash up and dress up. Put on something nice."
Bai Meng forcibly dragged Qingke up from the bed and pushed Qingke into the toilet.
"Ouch! Mom, can you let me sleep a little longer, five minutes, just five minutes?"
"No, hurry up."
"Really? These business gatherings are so boring. You and Dad can just go. Why do you always have to drag me along? It's always the same people."
Qing Ke closed her eyes and complained to Bai Meng, her body limp and she just didn't want to leave her shop.
"Don't waste your words. You know your father's temper. If you make him angry, he will take it out on your mother. Just treat it as a filial piety to your mother and deal with it quickly."
Qing Ke was helpless. Bai Meng was her fatal weakness. If she didn't obey her, she would turn into a mad tiger and make Qing Ke have no peace of mind.
Although Bai Meng often resorted to crying, making a scene, and even threatening to commit suicide in front of her daughter, she became a docile little lamb in front of Director Shang, obeying him in everything. This is really like the saying "one thing conquers another" and "one thing conquers another".
"Oh!" Qing Ke's "Oh" sounded so reluctant!
Qing Ke walked towards the bathroom, quickly washed up, and sat in front of the dressing table to comb her hair and dress up.
Bai Meng didn't rush downstairs, but rummaged through Qing Ke's room, trying to find the right clothes and shoes for her. She searched for a long time, comparing each piece of clothing to the full-length mirror, as if she were carefully selecting her own wedding dress.
After a long time, she finally found a dress she liked among all the different kinds of clothes. Looking at the dress in the mirror, she nodded with satisfaction and held the dress behind Qing Ke.
"Keke, Mom has found some clothes for you. Wear this one with those silver high heels."
Qing Ke saw the dress in Bai Meng's hand in the mirror. It was a light pink lace dress with a translucent lotus leaf-shaped hem and a shirt collar. The dress was pure yet playful.
Qing Ke sneered, stood up from the stool, glanced at the clothes in Bai Meng's hand again, and walked straight to the closet, ready to choose clothes for herself.
"Isn't this a business party? If I wear this, Dad will probably ask, 'Are you going to the market?' And Mom, this isn't your first time attending a party like this. Can't you tell the difference between formal wear and casual clothes?"
As Qing Ke spoke, she took out a floor-length dress from the closet. The dress was very simple, without any decoration or embellishment.
"No, listen to mom today and wear this. Your dad promises he won't say anything to you. Don't you trust your own mom's judgment?" Bai Meng snatched the dress from Qing Ke's hand and forced the clothes in her hand into Qing Ke's hand. "Hurry up, I'll go downstairs and wait for you."
Qing Ke didn't like wearing those cumbersome dresses in the first place. Since Bai Meng said so, there was no reason for her to refuse, so she happily changed into them.
Following Bai Meng's request, she took the pair of silver high heels from the shoe rack and put them on. She turned around in front of the dressing mirror, took a shoulder bag from the clothes rack, and walked downstairs with her high heels jingling.
"Dad, good morning!"
Wrapped in her clothes, she looked particularly pure and lovely, but no matter how beautiful the clothes were, they could not hide the laziness in her eyes. She slapped her lips and yawned loudly, sat down at the dining table, stretched, and ate breakfast as if nothing had happened.
She had already prepared herself for Director Shang's harsh words, so she kept her head down as much as possible and avoided Director Shang's gaze.
"Our Coco is truly naturally beautiful. Dressed like this, she looks just like Snow White."
Director Shang's eyes were full of praise. Instead of scolding Qing Ke, she praised him with admiration.
Qing Ke was so frightened that she almost spit out the porridge in her mouth. She raised her head and gave Director Shang a puzzled look.
Am I hallucinating? I'm dressed so casually for a business party, and he's actually praising me?
Director Shang's eyes met Qing Ke's unexpectedly. Director Shang smiled kindly, and Qing Ke also smiled awkwardly to deal with it.
"Eat quickly, it's getting late."
Qingke didn't say anything else. He lowered his head and finished his breakfast in a few bites.
The three of them drove to the party venue together.
